Hit my first cycle in RTTS. Then finished the season batting .200 in triple. It's hard to play for a bad team so I didn't sign with the Mets farm system and signed for Baltimore. In RTTS they are a little to eager to promote. At least that's my impression. I was batting .250 in double AA and got the call.

I suck at hitting. I would go to timing but I don't think it's as good as MVP 05 system. If you don't use the zone system vision, disciplne and clutch are key catergories to improve.

Fellas,

How do I access hot / cold zones and typical pitcher and batter type info during the game?

Also. anyone else have trouble seeing the ball?

Just hit a 2 run homer in the 9th to tie the game.. only to give up a leadoff triple to Ichiro in the bottom of the 10th and a sac fly to bring him home.

I do find it hard to pick up the ball sometimes. Last night I started a night game against Cleveland. I couldn't see the ball that well for the first two innings. I had the bright sky in the backround and shade at home plate initially. Once the sky got a little darker, I didn't have as much trouble. It's pretty amazing how the day turns to night by the end of the game.

I think I have finally found a camera angle that I'm comfortable hitting with at the plate. I can't tell you how many times I kept changing views. I've settled on Catcher 9.

Well, I guess I'm just a button pusher.....literally! I've resigned to hitting with the buttons (timing), pitching on "classic", and fielding with the buttons as well. It just feels right to me.

Does anyone know the answer to this.......I'm using "timing" for hitting. If I press the R2 button and the right stick up or down prior to the pitch, I'll get vibration. I always thought prior to the pitch, you pushed the right stick up, down, left, right to direct the ball. Is there an explanation for the R2 button in the manual?

Has there been any mention of when the opening day roster update will be out? That's when I plan to pick this year's game up.

Over at OS, Knight and his comrades put out their full roster including minor leaguers last night. Gonna download those and start my season this evening.

My Tigers are o-4 on the young season. I'm still learning the game and have been in each game. However, there has always been one inning where It all goes terribly wrong. The Yankees batted through the order one inning, putting up 10.

Any advice on what to do in those innings to stop the bleeding?

For me, I was having trouble scoring runs, getting consecutive hits in an inning, giving up the big inning, etc. I downloaded Marino's sliders from OS a couple nights ago and it has literally changed my feelings on the game in a more positive way. I swore from the day I got the game I wouldn't download anyone's sliders, but so far I am very happy with them.

Even if you don't elect to go with his or someone else's sliders, I do think on default at least that the CPU power needs to drop a click or two. Also, strike frequency needs to drop a few clicks, along with CPU foul ball frequency.

Fellas.

A couple of quick questions.

1. is there a way to "cancel" a throw command. There are times when I think an infielder can get to a ball where I call for a throw to first only to see the ball make it into the outfield. The outfielder picks it up and throws it to first, leaving the runner to go to second. Anyway to "super cancel" out of this?

2. I played a game this morning and three times I had base runners apparently get stuck.. they were just standing there between bases. I'm not ruling out user error, but it seemed as if L1 or R2 wouldn't get them to move in either direction.

3. Any tips for hitting? I have been using timing, does LS influence where my batter is swinging in this mode? Seems as if I could swing low only to have the indicator show the yellow circle somewhere else post pitch. I just did some practice with zone hitting, which I seem to like. What hitting mode do you guys use?

The outfielder picks it up and throws it to first, leaving the runner to go to second. Anyway to "super cancel" out of this? All you have to do is put in a new command. So say you hit X to throw home...before the ball gets to your outfielder, just press like L1 so that he will throw to the cutoff man instead. So just put in the correct input before the outfielder starts to make his throw. There is also a way to fake throws by hitting the same command or something, but you have to enable the cancel throws in the menus. I don't use it because I'm so used to the old system so I don't need to.

2. I played a game this morning and three times I had base runners apparently get stuck.. they were just standing there between bases. I'm not ruling out user error, but it seemed as if L1 or R2 wouldn't get them to move in either direction. I personally use the classic baserunning system where you can press the face button for the specific runner and just advance them manually by pressing to the next base for each runner. I like having control individually. You have to enable classic baserunning in the menu as well.

For some reason I don't think that hitting circle is very accurate or you're pressing the direction too late in the swing. It's like the circle only is accepted when you press the corresponding face button. I use button swinging so maybe it's different than the analog, but sticking with the buttons is definitely my preferred way to hit.

Just dawned on me last night. I've turned off analog hitting, throwing and pitching. Pretty much could of saved myself $60 since this is almost the same game as last year once you turn all that off. Except of course for the idiotic commentary of Karros.

Why wouldn't you use the pitching? I agree about the other two...pointless, but the pitching is fantastic. And there are quite a few different things (momentum in the field being the biggest improvement) to differentiate between 11 and 10. These are not even close to the same game.

I didn't say the analog pitching was bad just that I turned it off. Games take too long with it on for me and I find with classic pitching I still walk the right amount of guys and it saves 20 minutes a game. I also said it is almost the same game, I realize there are other game play improvements but I turned off one of the big ticket items, the others (move support and 3D) are gimmicks. With those things turned off or not being used I don't see $60 worth of improvements.

Still love the game but I loved 10 as well so just how I felt, YMMV obviously.

I only play RTTS and i've gone back to Classic pitching myself. I've always had the right amount of walks and strikes and i'm now so used to the analog pitching in MLB 2K that I prefer that. I agree with Dan the changes between MLB 10 and 11 are small. Still can't complain since I got it for $36 sale from Modell's, just for db. :)

I still think MVP's throwing system is superior.

But I switched to Dan's suggested slider (up a few posts) and the game has really opened up. On default, the pitches were able to paint the corners, viscously. I still strike out, too much but now I'm able to take walks. Plus the games are 2-1 with 12 hits per team.

After messing with it some more Dan is right very little has been added gameplay wise and Karros sucks. Sold it to Amazon for a 50 cent loss.

what is classic pitching? does the CPU handle pitch placement while the user selects the pitch type?

You choose the pitch and select location (and velocity if you want..hold button in longer for more velocity)...the players ratings, fatigue, etc. impact the result. Many like it because it is a very simple interface and you can "watch" your pitcher make the delivery. Some sim nuts like it because there is no human factor involved other than choosing the pitch/location. I used it prior to analog.
