Beat me to it.Gurantsu wrote:I posted this in the deal alert thread also. I got an e-mail from Gamestop that says that the PC digital download version of MLB 2K10 will be $2.99 on Monday only, for opening day. Certainly worth checking out for that price! I already got a copy through steam, but may grab one for my wifes laptop also.

Yeah, we have a wired one at work so I'm going to trade an old wireless one for it. Can't wait to check it out later.dbdynsty25 wrote:If you've got a wired 360 controller (or the play and charge kit w/ the USB cable) you're golden. I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

I have both this and The Show, and I have to admit that this is seeing most of my playing time. I prefer the pitcher/batter battle, the way you get to choose how a mound visit affects your pitcher, and the presentation continues to blow me away.
I'm pretty much just jumping in and doing the MLB Today games, where it lets you play today's real-world games. On opening day they kept talking about it being a new season, and then they would show the upcoming real world schedule for both teams. They even told you about upcoming real world games, so far they seem real big on the Yankees - Red Sox series. Add to that the fact that they talk about how the teams did in real life in the previous games and it is a very cool experience. I like picking teams I don't normally follow just to hear about who they will play and how they have been doing.
Certainly its not perfect, but it plays a great game of ball and the presentation is second to none. Having a blast with it.

I like the mound visits, as it makes you choose between calming a guy down or getting a bigger boost to his stamina. Since you only do it once I like having to decide if I want to leave a rattled pitcher to his fate in the hopes I can use it to extend his stamina later.
What is the error patch? Is there not enough or too many? I have seen what I would guess is a realistic amount (including a dropped ball by the Nationals on opening day that was lost in the sun and gave the Phil's 2 runs).

ok, i need hitting help.
I play as the Nats (don't laugh) on All Star defaults. I try to wait for good pitches, blah blah, all that good stuff.... now the Nats have more contact hitters then power hitters, so when I'm at bat with, say, Morgan who's only got like 40 power, I tend to only use the contact swing with him.
However, I'm finding more often then naught I just hit a weak ass ground ball that the infielders get and throw me out. If i'm lucky, i punch one out over hte infield, but it's rare.
So, should I actually be using the power swing for everybody until the count dictates a contact only situation? I.e should i power swing with Morgan, knowing i may only get to the outfield?
Or is the power swing *really* only for the big guns like Adam Dunn and Zimmermann?
What do you guys do?

I've found that I REALLY need to pay attention to the pitch when using contact swing. If it's low in the zone then 9 times out of 10 it's a weak grounder. So I've been really waiting for something up in the zone to make better contact. It seems to be working, with the added bonus that I'm actually drawing some walks, which was pretty much unheard of for me!

It sounds simple and obvious but you have to try and wait for a pitch on the fat part of the plate. This game really penalizes you for trying to hit the "pitchers pitch" instead of waiting for "your pitch".Gangrel wrote:ok, i need hitting help.

Ditto. I use power swing unless I'm in a hole and really need to just get the ball in play. I hit a normal amount of HRs, doubles, and singles. Triples are almost impossible to come by due to the rocket/laser arms.webdanzer wrote:I use the Power Swing as my default swing, and only use the other in situations where I really just want to get the ball into play.
I have seen what you have in that the contact swing results in too many feeble tappers for me to consider it the 'normal' swing.
