Congrats to the Florida Gators. Has there ever been a back to back basketball and football championship like this?

Btw, Leak's old team, Independence High School in Charlotte, has not lost since he graduated. Up to 108 game win streak now.

Kinda funny that people were saying Michigan vs. OSU was the true national championship last month. Both team got embarrassed.

OSU looked totally unprepared for what Florida was going to do on both sides of the ball. Meyer completely out coached Tressel and the UF players completely out played the OSU players.

That game left no doubt to who the better team was.

I'm just glad I DVR most football games and watch them in about 30 minutes. That was not an entertaining game to watch. Florida played fantastic, but it was too one-sided to make it a compelling game. The best entertainment last night were Monday's episodes of How I Met Your Mother and New Adventures of Old Christine.

I was rooting for OSU as a Big Ten alum but OSU was certainly preparing by watching episodes of How I Met Your Ass Whoopin and New Adventures of Old Overrated Big Ten Football.

I must say my hatred of Florida no longer exists. When Spurrier was there I could not stand the Gators because of him. Meyer gives UF much more class. Congrats UF.

What a JOKE! Just caught a glimpse of the polls. If this were the regular season, OSU would have dropped more than to #2 after that trouncing. UM and ND dropped several spots and each were thoroughly embarrassed. OSU's was the worst (Heisman winner, the hype), and they take the short trip down to #2. BSU moves up a whopping 3 spots to #6.

While I am no fan of the Gators, I can't help but feel good for the under appreciated Chris Leak. He may not be the most talented QB out there, but he was a hard worker and a student of the game.

Say what you want about Ron Zook, but the man can recruit. Meyer basically won the NC with Zook's players.

Edit: I am a huge college football fan, but this game was played so late in the year that it was hard to stay interested. If this game had been up against one of the lesser wild card games, I would have gone with the NFL game. And the number of commercials during the broadcast had me so annoyed that I jumped onto the 360 and played a game of NHL 07 in the second quarter.

I have come to hate the bowl system. Once December hits and the college season ends, the NFL heats up and it is hard to switch back and watch bowl games.

I was playing my DS at halftime with the broadcast in the background. They even whored-out the halftime show. While the bands were playing they put big freakin' Blockbuster graphic that blocked the view.

Check out http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multim ... ml?cnn=yes

I'm no fan of those CNN/SI polls, but a few comments

1) those CNN/SI galleries are pretty dumb
2) Last year's Rose bowl with UT/USC ranks #2? What game were they watching. That game goes down as one of the best college FB games EVER!
3) too many blowouts in the "national championship" game

How sweet it is (and was)!!! Nothing like seeing the mighty OSU Buckeyes get their butts whipped. Congrats to the Florida Gators.

Terrible call by Tressel to go on 4th and 1 at his own 30. He said something like he was doing it to show his kids that he believed in them (or some other rah rah bs). That was so un-Tressel like, more Charlie Weis!

Didn't OSU only have like 80 yards of total offense? What a total butt kicking. As for the Heisman trophy winner, did he play?....jk

I agree but they needed to throw a bone to OSU fans after that beating last night.

Tressel....wow...That 4th and one call on his own 29 was one of the dumbest things you will ever see. Talk about losing your mind.

Florida...My apologies... I couldnt have been more wrong about you. That was total domination on both sides of the ball and on the sidelines.

No. Florida is the first school to hold the Division I-A football and basketball national titles simultaneously.

Take care,

The pass was barely forward. Besides, Ohio State should just be happy Florida was trying to get first downs to run out the clock quickly. It probably saved Smith from getting sacked another time or two.

Was it just me or did Troy Smith look like he bulked up a little since the Michigan game? He sure looked slower out there. And I can't believe Ginn hurt himself in the celebration after his TD. Geeze. Plus some kicker who's 4 for 13 on the year starts drilling them dead center from 40. You know it ain't your night when stuff like that happens.

They just didn't show up. Disappointing.

Could this system be more of a joke? OSU gets destroyed in the title game, LSU and USC have two losses each, and all three get ranked ahead of the lone undefeated team, which had no chance to play for a championship. Those rankings obviously don't matter, but they just show the mentality of the idiots running this system. It's like they got together, ate a box of Wheaties, and said, "Whatever we poop out, that's our championship system."

"and all three get ranked ahead of the lone undefeated team, which had no chance to play."

They should have played a decent schedule. Auburn went undefeated a couple of years ago and I did not hear the same out cry for them when they played a harder schedule. Sure, they played a soft schedule out of conference( I am not defending them) but at least they played someone in conference.

There are 8-10 teams every year that could run the table with Boise's schedule. IMO, they should not even be ranked 5.

I know that Boise is not as talented as the teams ahead of them, but they won a BCS bowl, and furthermore, they destroyed a common opponent that whalloped USC (Oregon State). In the big-person world of the NFL, which uses the play on the field instead of votes from the Cheeto-stained fingers of reporters to determine rankings, that would bump them ahead. I'm also pretty sure Boise could have produced more than 82 yards of offense last night.

I could see LSU being ahead of them since their only losses were to top 5 teams at the time.

It just goes to show that you shouldn't use the same system for picking Olympic figure skating champions to decide college football champions.

Congrats to the Gators, though, for absolutely bringing it last night. They looked ferocious.

As a Gator who watched every game this year, I didn't expect that kind of performance. The offense has shown flashes of brilliance all season, but have never consistently put together a half like they did in the title game. And the defense...wow. Florida's strength this year was their D-line, and it showed. (And is OSU's O-line that slow? Was it the layoff? I only saw the Texas, Penn St, and Michigan games this year, so I really don't know.)

And Tressel...eek. For his entire career, Leak has thrived when he has time to pick apart a zone, whereas he will make mistakes under pressure. And for nearly the entire first half, OSU played zone and would rush three or four...which is what Leak loves.

It's great to be a Florida Gator.

BDunn,

12 plays on the last drive - 11 runs, 1 short pass, and they took a knee.

I repeat: As long as voting is so predominantly featured, it's figure skating or gymnastics.

I love watching the people who claim that there is no time for a playoff hem and haw in the face of the 7 week break that OSU just had.

That was going to be my first response to a Buckeye fan that blamed the layoff. :) If you are going to protest the time off, the protest better be that the time would be better filled with several weeks of playoffs, so questions like 'What about Boise?' could be answered on the field.

Big 10 football has always been overrated. Congrats to Chris Leak and the Gators. Florida could have hung 60pts on the Buckeyes last night if they had wanted too. The look on the faces of Troy Smith and Tedd Ginn and the rest of the Buckeyes was priceless, not to menton Tressel..they believed their own hype. They had no idea what hit them.
Percy Harvin looks like he's going to be a player.
