The J3 is a bit better than the S9. A few reasons that make it my daily mp3 player:

Expandable MicroSD slot
Better Battery Life
Buttons in a better spot along the side instead of built into the top of the device

Yes, the J3 is more expensive, but it's worth it in my opinion for the reasons mentioned above. However, if you're just looking for a player with outstanding sound quality, the S9 is just as good. Both sound the same.

I thought the higher the letter the newer the model which is why I thought the S9 was newer to the J3. I like the look of both the S9 and J3. DB I have some DiVX files, can I transfer them over to the S9 or J3 and it'll play? :)

Yes, they will play.

And Cowon's naming conventions are really weird. Their highest end model, the D3 runs android (not very well either) and the brand new C2 is just a tiny little brick. Go figure...no one knows what the hell they are doing. But their J3 is the best mp3 player on the market IMO. There are tons of interface tweaks out there so you can configure it however you want. Gotta love Flash support. :)

I went ahead and ordered the 16GB J3. :)

I read this thing uses gorilla glass on the screen. Looking forward to it. I got it from Amazon just in case, they have a great return policy.

Crazy that the 32gb is at 259 now...I got a replacement for one my wife lost about a month ago for 244. These things really vary. I picked it up and a 32gb microSD for under 300 bucks. Can't beat the value IMO. 64gb touch will run you 400...but obviously you get all the apps and everything, but I only use my Cowon for music...as they are meant to be used. You'll be stoked with it.

DB which Micro SD card should I get from this list? There's class 4 so unsure which one to order. Also when you add a Micro SD card how do you transfer it over to the Micro SD card?

Outside of the size and weight not really. All will sound outstanding.

As for microsd cards...it doesn't much matter but the higher the class the faster it will transfer so I'd recommend a class 10. And as soon as you plug the J3 in to your computer it'll recognize both the internal and external as their own separate drives that you can drag and drop to. Then when you start up the device it combines them so you can't even tell there are two storage drives. Its seemless.

Yup, stupid question. LOL.

As long as you buy a MICRO SD card, it'll be fine. Those two pictures are of the same card...one just has an adapter (regular SD) so that you can put it in a SD slot on your laptop or computer monitor. See the tiny card that comes out of the bigger card? That is the same as the bottom picture, just in different zoom levels.

My J3 is being shipped should have it by Weds. I'm thinking of buying one of these cases for the J3. They are for the Cowon's and they look nice, still deciding on the color although I do like the Coco color case lol. :)

Nice DB great choice this machine is awesome. Now I regret not getting the 32GB. Off to Amazon to buy a Micro SD card and a case. Can you customize the equalizer when watching a Concert Video? All I saw was presets.

Oh which headphones do you recommend for the J3?

Yup, it's one badass machine...no doubt. I love it.

No customization for EQ in video mode...only presets available.

And headphones open a can of worms. What kind of music do you listen to? How much do you want to spend? Do you want to be completely isolated in music or open to the world? Do you want in ear plugs, earbuds, over the ear, on the ear? All kinds of questions. LOL.

Okay, so if you want to stick with buds like the jbuds, you still have to give me a price point to start at. LOL. There are WAY better earphones that'll cost you anywhere between 40-100 bucks...like WAY better.

Lets shoot for $50 lol. I like a wide range of freqs which is why I like the J3 earbuds. Any other Cowon's on the horizon. I'm a convert lol. :)

DB any good source for legit/cheap 16GB Micro SD's?

Sorry...a little more than 50 bucks ($60 to be exact), I'd go with the Brainwavz M2 or the $65 NuForce 700x.

http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-BWAVZ-M ... =pd_cp_e_1

http://www.amazon.com/NuForce-NE-700X-A ... =pd_cp_e_1

I've had a difficult time finding anything cheaper than 50 bucks that I really like. Those two are solid solid headphones for that price point. I've got a set of Soundmagic e30s on the way from England to see if I can find a sub-50 dollar headphone I can use at the gym. The e30s are supposed to be a cheaper version of my headphone of choice, the Vsonic GR07, which at 165 bucks, is a bit too expensive to be using at the gym. :)

And I bought my microSD from Fry's. They are so cheap now it doesn't much matter where you get em from. Just get one with some good reviews on Amazon.com or Newegg.com.

The Brainwavz have solid reviews but burn-in for headphones?! :(

Are the NuForce that much better than the Brainwavz?

I don't believe in it...but people on Head-fi seem to. I guess I'm just not as good at hearing. LOL...don't worry about the burn in.

As for the NuForce...nah...they are about the same. Just get which one you think looks better. Sound signatures are pretty similar.
