Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Unreal that Arsenal has climbed into fourth after the Gooners' horrible start to the season.
I think Arsenal benefits from the Premiership having no dominant teams this season. There are some very good clubs but no true titans at or near the top. That gives a solid team a better chance at recovery.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Well, Suarez has apologized so racism is over and after making fun of Sepp Blatter the English Media seemed to adopt his stance that a handshake fixes everything.
I'm glad that this sordid mess is over - what with Liverpool fans chanting racist chants against Evra, booing his brother when he played, sending him a freakin' BULLET in the mail and let's not forget the clear video evidence of him saying those things.....wait, what? That's the John Terry/Anton Ferdinand case? Well we don't want to make a big deal about that - it involves two London clubs, two Englishmen including England's Brave John Terry so let's just keep that quiet. Wait, the trial was postponed till after the Euros? Great.
Also, now that we know that Sir Alex values pre-match handshakes so much (after all, he insists that Suarez never play for Liverpool again and that his actions could have caused a riot) perhaps he'll look back at the 2005 United-Arsenal match (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFkYRXlwQxA) where Roy Keane, Roy Carroll, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney all refused to shake hands with Patric Viera. Now he can't go back and ban Carroll and Keane but I'm interested to see how he'll get rid of Scholes and Rooney - it'll be a big loss for United this season particularly with them challenging but I'm sure he'll do the right thing. Perhaps he can sell Rooney back to Everton? If anything he's a man of principle and definitely a moral compass for football - I mean look at his teams over the years, it's not like he's had players that have 'missed' mandatory drug tests, players who have cheated on their brother's wife and then spent hundreds of thousands of pounds covering it up, not like he's had a captain that went into the crowd and kicked a fan in the head, or another captain that admits he intentionally tried to injure another player, or a keeper that's alleged to have called Ian Wright a 'f!cking black bastard'. Nope, if anyone can give a lecture on morality on and off the football pitch it's Sir Alex and Manchester United.
Thankfully the English Media won't just regurgitate his vomit as fact and will actually call him on these things...oh...wait.
Oh well, at least everyone can agree that Stewart Downing was utter garbage yesterday....

Never mind that nonsense Macca WHY AM I WATCHING A COLOR CLASH ON MY TV RIGHT NOW. Granted its the most exciting part of the game for me, trying to figure out who is who. Would it have hurt to throw on some black shorts city?
I used to have to watch in Black and white so its awakening memories of Farleys rusks and warm ready break and getting smacked around the head.

It's 'Ready Brek', actually.Jimmydeicide wrote:Never mind that nonsense Macca WHY AM I WATCHING A COLOR CLASH ON MY TV RIGHT NOW. Granted its the most exciting part of the game for me, trying to figure out who is who. Would it have hurt to throw on some black shorts city?

Thought the ref was going to adopt 'Anti-Fergie' time....where he doesn't blow the whistle til City concede.
Oh, and Dalglish is now attempting to save his job by getting Adolf Jnr to apologise. Word is that their Yankee overlords are NON too pleased about a number of things regarding his stewardship, not least this unseemly spectacle and Dalglish's intransigence.
Probably also connected to the £100m he has shot up the wall on a collection of players who befit a team desperately attempting to ensure qualification for the Europa League. Liverpool are closer to relegation than they are to City.
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Suarez needs ti dial it back a little or the team will be forced to do something with him.
What has he done since he came back , lets see.
Wellied Scott Parker in the ribs(accidental my arse)
caused a riot by not shaking Evra's hand
Booted the ball at man u's dug out at the end of the half.
I like him a lot but man is he annoying.

More of a Liga (and I'm not talking Spanish football here) man myself.Jimmydeicide wrote:That comment has maybe the potential of being understood by what 3 other people on here?![]()
Here's someone who's not just satisfied with the fact that Farleys Rusks taste great. He wants more...hair!!!

Pompey and Rangers going into administration.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Without playing very well, Barca did enough to steal a victory from the hosts in Germany as Alexis was lethal in a night where he and Messi were the difference. The pass that lead to Alexis first goal was just brilliant.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Let's just say that Arsenal got off easy with the 4-0 loss to Milan where the Prince had a beauty and Ibrahimovic was just unstoppable in CL action tonight.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Boateng - Golazo! When he is on he's one of my favourite players to watch.
I miss Liverpool in the Champions League, hope those fans that wanted Benitez out appreciate how good we had it those 6 years where we not only qualified most of the time but made at least the last 4 on numerous occasions (not to mention 2 finals and that win). Now we dream of the Europa League....

On the bright side, it has to be nice to have your Dad around the house more these days. Plus he probably has a closet full of Inter swag that he grabbed before he left Milan.

Indeed, a nice World Club Championship medal too - whatever the hell that is! Still don't completely understand what he's saying though.RobVarak wrote:On the bright side, it has to be nice to have your Dad around the house more these days. Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Arsenal sucked didnt they?
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Otamendi is lucky to still have his left eye after the incidental kick from Maicon in the game against City. Scary stuff.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
If you lose an eye in the Europa LEague, did you really lose it?
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
One day Liverpool will win a final without making me have a heart attack. One day......
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Championship caliber sounds about right.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
We beat Stoke (Away), Chelsea (Away) and also beat City (Away) to get to the final.
Can't control who we play in the final and Cardiff were more than a handful.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
It's the fecking League Cup. You are supposed to play your youth team until the finals anyways.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread, 11/12
Liverpool played almost their starters and had to go to penalties. Ya you won silverware but you didn't really win.
