How many games of Madden 10 have you lost so far overall?
Four. I generally find a way to pull it out in the end as long as I can keep it close.

Last night in the official OS Online Franchise I took down Ian Cummings' (the lead developer on Madden that you see talking about it in all the videos) Giants 45-21 in New York after picking off Manning 6 times. Was a fluky game, but I'll take it.

I was beaten once by Steve in my first ever online game, then hammered 48-28 by him with the Saints over my Lions in the "Bottom 8" OF.

Lost another to a buddy Squint, and then one other one somewhere in there.

I just want to say I appreciate how everyone has been playing their games and doing recaps. The extra stories and what not make up for a lacking league website and is what keeps everything fun. Right now it irks the hell out of me to have to turn on the game and then look at every team to see who is injured etc.

Here is hoping the website improves. I hope everyone is enjoying the league, and the pace is good enough for all involved. I want to thank Zep for stepping up in the free agent thread, it is really appreciated. I also love the fact I have not gotten one report of questionable play.

I will be out of the loop a lot this weekend possibly. I made the Aerie Cup team at my golf club. They hold an annual event that plays just like the Ryder Cup with two teams. So starting tomorrow I have matches and dinners and everything else involved.

My cut is far from healed but I can now bend my trigger finger and can hold a controller so I'm planning on rejoining tomorrow after the flip. Thanks for understanding guys and I'm sorry Seminole for not giving you a human opponent this week. How did your game against the AI go? Did my boys at least put up a fight? :lol:

Mark1177, I sent you a PM. I'm out of town this weekend, so my only chances for week 4 are tomorrow (Thursday) night or some time late on Sunday, not exactly sure when I get back.

I'm guessing our games will be shortened to 7 minute quarters after the new patch?

Why? That's for online ranked games. There is a setting in OF, I could of set it to 15 min quarters. I set it to 8 because people said anything higher and the games would be too long. IMO this should be set at 10 or 11 for our league but I did what most wanted.

I watched both videos on what is being worked on.

Here is the good stuff in the first update

* Made fatigue affect ratings more

* Tuned broken tackle chances

* Reduced/removed holding on kick attempts

* Improved-toe drag catch logic

* General pursuit improvements

* Man coverage improvements

Here is what sucks, they are improving all Offensive players pursuit logic in this next roster update which will reduce the number of INT returned for a TD. Which is a hack way to fix it because

1. It doesn't help any OF
2. It doesn't help the generated draft classes issues.

I guess I'll go on record saying that I think 8 is just way too short.

12 with 20 second runoff has been perfect in the 3 other leagues I'm in, as far as number of plays and stats. I always feel rushed in the DSP games, and the games are over before they really get started (you can tell by the number of shutouts and low-yardage affairs).

I agree, when I see people putting up 50+ points in 8 minute quarters I wonder how that is even effin possible.

I agree with both you guys. 8 is too short. You never do get into the flow of a game.

I AM NOT SAYING we should do it but I used 15 mins in my solo franchise and I got fantastic results. That really would be too long for our league as the games would take 3 days but the 10-12 range would be great.

Well I can change it I think at anytime, not that I am going to right now.

We're learning as we go with this league but the truth is I think paying style is more a factor of game length then anything. I've played buddies in 12 minutes quarters and the games have gone faster then DSP games because they run a balance offense. I've played guys who pass 90% of the time and the game takes forever.

I am upset over the fix for the pick 6's being in a roster update though, that's pretty much crap right there.

I think 8 minutes was a good place to start. We can get through the first season relatively quickly and then make adjustments in between seasons. Plus, as the patches drop and we get better with the game, the big plays should decrease somewhat. I think if we played longer games right now, some of these would really get out of hand.

I'm surprised to see how much is in the first patch. Hopefully the second one drops before we start season 2.

8 minutes is too short for human vs. human games. However, it is more than enough for human vs. AI games and therein lies the problem. I think the accelerated clock. has something to do with it. IMO there's no need for it with 8-minute quarters but then the games against the cpu would be way too long. It's too bad we can't have seperate settings for games between humans and games against the cpu.

I'll play however you guys want, but the 1+hr human/human matches sure as hell seem long enough to me.

My first human / human game against Nozzleman lasted 45 minutes I timed it. As I said I'm not changing anything yet, it's just a discussion.

You'll forgive me, but as a Bears fan I spend at least 20 seconds every play just gaping in amazement at Cutler's ratings and another 10 confused about why the Bears even have an offensive playbook. These things do not align with my understanding of real life Bears football. :)

You mean you don't automatically run a pitch to Leon Johnson on third and long?

I think when the season is over, we can look at the points and team yardage and adjust the time. I suspect 10 minutes with an accelerated clock would probably be a good medium between realistic play and realistic expectations of the time people can spend.

My two cents

Post by tmdba37 »

Personally, I think the 8mins. is perfect, but the accelerated clock is a kick in the pants for me so far. . .but I'm getting used to it game by game. . .

I think Brando is on the right track. We need to play it out the way we've started, and make adjustments in between seasons, once the patch(s) have dropped, etc.

First of all, I think the accelerated clock fixes a lot of issues with games against the CPU in terms of TOP and number of plays and so on, and I think it works just fine in human v. human games as well. But I am of two minds on the issue of quarter length. On the one hand, I would love to play realistic, 60-70 plays-per-team football

But online games need to be schedulable or the thing just won't work at all. With a group this large, it's so much easier to get games played when you know going in it will be maximum one hour.

And while I agree longer games would or could be a lot better, I'm really enjoying the 8' quarter games I've played and am not feeling like it's ruined or messed up. I haven't played any other time settings yet at all (so as to get used to league rules!), so maybe I'm conditioned or who knows.

The one thing I wish they would fix as far as the online franchise is the simmed stats. In the Scoop/ Mac simmed game, both teams had season highs in every category because the simmed games are all full games. That doesn't ruin the thing for me at all, but it takes away a lot of potential goodness.

And thank YOU Danimal for stepping up and taking the lead on this whole league. The way the OF is set up, where people can leave and come back, can select a different team in the offseason if we want, and so on, is key, but there's no doubt this group is excited to play these games and we're getting them done. It must be because they're so damn fun! But it seems like a great group we have going here. I'm still bummed blublub can't get in. I wish they'd fix that stupidity in a patch.

Agreed. We should finish the way we started . Would like though to see a continued discussion on adding a couple of minutes after season 1.

Yes.

I would love to play a a game in its entirety instead of these 55-60% half games but I do understand the time limitations. Why I would never expect anything like the way I play solo.

I will save the 60-70 play games for when Im lonely.

2 games left this week, one is head to head and the other against the AI. I am flipping at midnight, I certainly hope these games get played.

Patriots over the Falcons 21-7. This one was truly one that wouldn't end! In all, there were 9 turnovers, with 7 (5 INT thrown by Ryan) of those charged to Atlanta. Glad our game ended in time before the rollover!

They kicked my ass!! You are still undefeated. I didn't post a write up because I was pissed off. I should have won IMO but I think the AI cheats. Guys breaking plays for 70+ yds and my guys couldn't tackle for s***. Its all good though, you would have beat me anyhow I am sure. God I hate Baltimore! ;)
