The secondary is definitely at fault, but every corner in the league will struggle when a QB has that much time. It's not just the Titans, who do have a great o-line -- the Bears struggle to get pressure every week. That's why they get killed on 3rd and longs.
Vasher has certainly gone downhill, but the pass rush is the biggest culprit in my opinion. The Bears have to play off the receivers because they can't rely on pressure, which opens those short routes.
Sorry but we'll disagree, yes the Bear front four sucks and gets no pressure but that is not the reason they play off the ball, that is by design.
The Bears get beat on 3rd and long because:
1. The way too often show blitz with a nickel back or LB and then he has to drop back to get in position with a slot receiver that is a recipe for disaster with this secondary.
2. Never and I mean never do they bump the receiver at the line and on the rare occasion they do they get beat. Bo back and look at Vasher giving up the TD yesterday.
3. No zone awareness and in my mind this is the number one killer. Remember Atlanta, happened again yesterday. Guys have poor recognition on their responsibilities, Tillman had no clue where his receiver was in zone yesterday.
All of that still doesn't solve the slant, you can't play that soft all the time and defend the slant.
You can play successful cover 2 when you're getting no pressure and your secondary is woeful, they need to make a change in how they play but they won't.
