Rock Band - Impressions...

Okay, drum experts, a technique question. I've gotten good enough at Medium that I think I'm ready for the Hard drum tour. What position do you keep your foot in: flat on the pedal or arched up in the "rock" position? I don't think I can keep up with some of the faster bass beats in the flat position, but the rock one feels a little awkward to me right now.

Definitely "Heel Up". And "bounce" by giving a little "flick" with the ball of your foot. Don't lift up anymore than you need to in order to register a hit. And rest you foot flat down on the pedal when you can. Be careful! You don't want to break that plastic pedal! I reinforced the bottom of mine with some heavy duty adhesive backed felt and it has been fine.Brando70 wrote:Okay, drum experts, a technique question. Just try and "bounce" by flicking the ball of your foot, instead of just lifting your whole leg. And try and keep the ball of your foot in the same spot.Naples39 wrote:I keep trying to play heel-up, but I'm just not good at it. I will keep at it though, because playing most things on expert heel-down would be near impossible.
I actually found it easiest to play with a bare foot, as a sock is too "slippery".
Somehow I beat that song on my first try. For me, I just said forget making it sound pretty just be more or less accurate so that even though I'm missing a lot I'm not dying. Granted I am nowhere near beating Run to the Hills on hard so maybe we just have different strengths in drum playing.JackB1 wrote:I finally beat "Run To The Hills" on Hard!!!!! Boy is that song a workout!
Now if I could just make it thru "Won't Get Fooled Again! I get to about 70% and fall apart. All those crazy fills are tough at the end. No real pattern to follow.
This guy may be on to something, as he shot 3 for 3 on this week's DLC.webdanzer wrote:Someone at scorehero supposedly found what appears to be a track list in one of the files in the latest DLC pack.
EL Scorcho - Weezer
Why do you love me - Garbage
Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots
I just beat WTFA so I have completed a HARD Drum solo career. That shows how much fun this game is, as I NEVER complete any games. I am now going back and trying to 4 star everything on HARD. That will be very difficult on some songs. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!Naples39 wrote: Somehow I beat that song on my first try. I just got some pads from http://www.DrumPads4RockBand.com - they look pretty sweet and sound nice! It looks like they sell the foam pads and gum rubber also.

Don't feel bad, I've replaced every piece of equipment that came with mine including the USB hub. Apparently they are using the same Quality control as MS.Spooky wrote:Broke my SECOND goddam kick pedal this weekend!!!Snapped right in half again.

I've been trying to beat "And Justice For All" on expert with the drums since I got my 360 back and I finally did it!
It feels like an actual accomplishment. I love this game more and more each week. It's the best offline multiplayer game IMO too.

Yeah, I've got the Pokemon (gotta catch 'em all) thing going on with the Rock Band DLC at the moment, though the Thrash pack might finally kill that off.Naples39 wrote:You buy the whole pack? There's no way I would buy more than one or two, if that. Any specific recommendations?webdanzer wrote:I give the Grateful Dead pack a thumbs up. Totally dig some of the psychedelic video, too.
Let me get back to you once I've played through them on Guitar. I've just done drums for all of them so far.

For the record...I HATE the decision on how they coded the expert drum track on Truckin'. What a pain in the ass to play and NOT fun at all IMO. I don't mind difficlt but this one is just annoying and does not feel like I am playing drums what-so-ever.
