At first, EA told OS it would be patched shortly after or around the release date. Funny, that post is now gone and nothing has been heard from EA since.JRod wrote:There's some wonky AI on the 360. You can implement a house rule of taking control of a team late but other than that there's little you can do.
I wish they would fix the fatigue. I don't know if they will regardless of what OS says. That kills the franchise mode more than anything. When Tatum Bells gets 35 carries in a game...yikes.
They probably looked at their sales and said, "We don't need to devote any money or time to fixing the fatigue issue as we've already made our sales goals". Next game....

I know the thread is there Sully, but there was a statement from EA about the timeframe of a patch. It was stated they hoped to have one right around the release day. I don't see that post anymore.Sully wrote:The patch information thread is right where it's always been...at the top of the Madden forum.
EA informed OS, IGN, Gamestop, all of the Madden fan sites, etc....that a patch would be released to correct the fatigue issue.
It's not a big deal.

I hesitate to ask this since last year this never got by training camp.
But does anyne with the Pc version want to try and multiplayer coach only franchise?
The PC version has the spawn game feature. So it would run as we tried last season the the Xbox. There would be an order for the teams and the file would be passed down the line.
Anyway if you have the pc version and could commit to playing a game a week in order to keep it moving let me know.

"Todd Sitrin, EA VP of marketing at EA stated, "Consumers are the most meaningful judge of game quality..."
I do like Madden, particularly on the PC this year, but company speak like this will never cease to annoy the crap out of me. Basically because it's a lie. Of course this is a marketing guy...

It's my fault. I have purchased both NCAA and Madden on 360 and PSP. That's the equivalent of $160 (net of the $15 coupon for NCAA PSP and the CC deals) of EA football this yearDanimal wrote:This is why EA can release a football game without fatigue

However, the good news is that I'm enjoying them tremendously and would buy them again!
I just got the PC version too. Like it so far. Lots to learn!
Are you guys using the "passing cone" or not? Which way makes
passing easier? I need all the help I can get!

what's worse than playing a random guy who happens to be a cheeser?
Having that sumbitch beat you on the last play of the game!!! I had to take 20 minute woooooosahhhhhhhh after this game. This bastard uses Miami and I shoulda known I was in trouble from the kickoff. Most people who win the toss defer and take the ball first after halftime. Not this idiot. I shoulda known I was in more trouble after his first play....a pass play...Culpepper takes the snap and takes off to the right. Bastard did this the whole game. Bastard went for it on 4th in the first half, stopped him though. Bastard no-huddled me to death. I finally got pissed and just called a timeout. On the flipside and what's typical of a cheeser, THEY HAVE NO GAME DEFENSIVELY. This idiot made me punt once or twice. So I finally overcome the cheesiness and take the lead with 1:04 left on a Julius Jones catch and run for a td. We all know what happened next, Culpepper takes off. Culpper takes off again. Culpepper again. No huddle, no huddle, no huddle which was understandable in this situation. Anyways, I got him on like the 12 with 4 seconds lift. Bastard took the snap and Culpepper took off....run to the right, endzone. Game over! Dolphins win 38-35. Sigh...

Well now that I can get the 'live game' feature to work (who would've imagined I might think to invite someone before I hit start on the team selection screen?), I have to say, this 'live game' feature is freaking cool as all hell.
The first one I played was against Slumber in his franchise, and I noticed that no player stats were shown in my game after it was over. Then I played one in my own franchise, and voila all the player stats were there. One thing that sort of stinks is the weather; you guarantee yourself beautiful, sunny wind-free games when you take it online.
Still, it's pretty cool to play franchise games with people online.

I agree, live franchise is pretty cool... and it may be the game's main saving grace for me, because I sort of can't stand this game offline. It's so choppy and unresponsive compared to NCAA, screen passes don't work as well as NCAA, presentation is nil compared to NCAA... you get the picture. And I'm not a fan of college football. Not to mention, there are instances of brain-dead DB play that put NFL 2K5 to shame. I shut my game off in frustration yesterday when one of my defenders tied up the CPU runningback and I instinctively came over to help bring him down, but because the game can't recognize gang tackles I ended up phasing through both of them, Kitty Pryde-style, while the back broke free and ran like 70 yards for a touchdown.
Online works for me because at least you get some human error and unpredictability to offset the bullsh*t.

I agree...I've bitched in this thread about that. It happens on kickoffs most often. You'll be running into a wall of guys and since the rest of them can't do a damn thing when one guy tries to tackle you, if you break that tackle it's off to the races. That is the one major gripe I have with the game.Slumberland wrote:I shut my game off in frustration yesterday when one of my defenders tied up the CPU runningback and I instinctively came over to help bring him down, but because the game can't recognize gang tackles I ended up phasing through both of them, Kitty Pryde-style, while the back broke free and ran like 70 yards for a touchdown.
Ok, so you like online because you get instances of human error, but lambaste the offline AI for making mistakes in the defensive backfield?Slumberland wrote:. . . there are instances of brain-dead DB play that put NFL 2K5 to shame. . . .

One of the problems I have enjoying play v. the CPU in most sports games is the sense of fighting-game style robot like efficiency with the controls and angles, the timing and appropriateness, if you will, of the move selected in a microsecond. This is where WE tends to shine, in that despite super-human facility with the controls, the CPU makes unpredictable decisions and mistakes you'd never or only rarely see in an American sports game (dribbling the ball right out of play, for example).
If the db AI mistakes are consistent and exploitable, then yes that's a big problem. But I pine for football game AI that is prone to making the kind of misreads, or mistake button-pushes, or poor timing that is par for the course with human players (not to mention playcalling AI that doesn't seem either entirely random or as if their play-caller was in my huddle, a real issue with me in games like football or baseball, not so much in hockey or soccer). 2K's VIP thing was huge step in the right direction, despite it's many flaws, particularly with pre-snap movement. As it is, though, once again I will most likely not finish a season v. CPU. With 'live game,' though, I am sure I will complete at least one if not more, not to mention play many games in other people's franchises.
'Live game' rules! Now maybe by the time we elect a new president, we might have online franchises if we're lucky, lol.

Yes. With online play, it's often a matter of people making defensive misplays. Offline, my frustration is with my defensive backs being in a position to make a play but doing absolutely nothing.Zeppo wrote:Ok, so you like online because you get instances of human error, but lambaste the offline AI for making mistakes in the defensive backfield?
I haven't touched Franchise mode since 'discovering' Superstar Mode and the creation of myself as QB, drafted by the Packers. I turned on the option to play D and other plays when I'm not 'in the game' for any reason, and I love this mode.
The camera and need to look left/right with the right stick is the best 'virtual' QB experience ever.

yet there is a hit by a madden developer that gang-tackling will be in the PS3 version in some form.I shut my game off in frustration yesterday when one of my defenders tied up the CPU runningback and I instinctively came over to help bring him down, but because the game can't recognize gang tackles I ended up phasing through both of them, Kitty Pryde-style, while the back broke free and ran like 70 yards for a touchdown.
from the HOF Edition on PS2...
yeah because we know this isn't possible on the 360.One of the developers says (referring to the upcoming PS3 Madden) "you'll actually see situations where two guys try to wrap up a ball carrier, and a third tackler will join in to push the ball carrier back... this is something we haven't had the ability to do before"...

I haven't touched franchise mode because of the fatigue issue. I'm waiting for "the patch" that I hope will be coming out. Fatigue, I thought before the release wouldn't be too huge an issue. My views have changed drastically. Especially after playing a guy online yesterday and he took Tomlinson and ran up and down the field on me, play after play.Sport73 wrote:I haven't touched Franchise mode since 'discovering' Superstar Mode and the creation of myself as QB, drafted by the Packers. I've really been enjoying Madden. With that said, this game doesn't play too well out of the box. But after some good slider sets (Playmakers at OS has some excellent ones) I've been very happy. Once I get the the roster and fatigue patch, I should be good to go.
As for PS3 Madden being different than the 360 version, eh, I really don't see it happening. Like J-Rod said, maybe a new animation or two.
