Yeah, I am sorry this last week was so messed up. I am trying to figure out the best thing to do here. Since it appears that I am going to be manually calculating season points anyway, it feels like we should just throw this week out. However, I also hate for those who had a good week to miss out. I am open to suggestions. If only Codemasters would allow for a few things:

1) Ability to edit the season events after the season has started. If I could do this, I could have extended this week once the severs came back up, and then re-set the next events. Currently once a season starts there is no editing allowed, even if the event is 6 weeks out. Only options once the season starts is to cancel it entirely. Which I could do at this point. Manually set the scoring, and then start again with the remaining events.

2) The ability to modify points. The interface allows for applying penalties, and there is a place for bonuses, but it doesn't appear to work. If I could just edit the points I could fix this.

3) The ability to see the individual stage results online after the event is over. At least now you can see the final results after it ends. They did add that. I would also love to see the individual stage times and stage rank as well as the overall. Then I would not have to do the gentleman's agreement cut-off time, just so that I have time to screenshot and copy/paste the data before the next event starts and everything is erased.

This is such a great game, and so close to everything we ever wanted in a rally sim. The server issues and the little design quirks drive you crazy because it is so good otherwise.

I'd say that guys just be able to run the stages with visual evidence of their time. It's what I would have done, but I saw it up at 4:30AM and just fired it up and flew through them as quickly as I could while they were working.

By the way, Jimmy...absolutely SCREAMING first stage! That was bad-fast.

Ok, hopefully I don't make anyone mad, but I made an executive decision and we will re-do Rally 3. Since CM's site was not correctly tracking the points for me anyway, I am going to do it manually. So everyone gets a second shot at Greece this week. Then the season will progress as normal after that as long as Codemasters servers don't botch again. This felt like the fairest thing to do, and the easiest way for me to be able to get the results and points right. So, after 2 Rally's (Monaco and Sweden) here are the standings:

1) Rockjaw McGraw - 50
2) Fshguy - 33
3) RingBearer - 30
4) DChaps66 - 18
4) MetaSacamano - 18
6) theycallhimsim - 15
7) Wilk5280 - 12
7) The Deicide - 12
9) CP Zeppo - 8
10) I0spro - 3
11) MixDJ1 - 2
12) Ace EZ - 1
HOGZ TheTruth - 0
XXXIV 34 - 0
vader29 - 0
Dbdynsty25 - 0

Rally 3 - Greece, Route 2 - TAKE TWO

Vehicle Class:
Hyundai Rally - must be used by Rockjaw McGraw, Fshguy, theycallhimsim, RingBearer
Volkswagen Polo Rally - can only be used by Dbdynsty25, vader29, Ace EZ, HOGZ TheTruth, XXXIV 34
Everyone else can pick from Ford Fiesta RS Rally, MINI Countryman Rally Edition, Hyundai Rally

*** Nothing will change from the previous week's car assignments. If in question, always go back to your last completed rally event. Top 3 will always have to use the Hyundai Rally, bottom 3 and/or anyone outside the top 10 are the only ones that can use the Volkswagen Polo Rally.

I just went into the roster management and it shows you both in the league as active. Sorry, I wish I knew what was going on.

I for one am quite happy with this executive decision, feeling more at home on gravel than tarmac or snow.
Tried 3 or 4 evenings to get it going but I guess it went down around wednesday

I did manage, after going off the road many many many times, to finish stage one last night. Can honestly say I was never worse. Nightmarish to the point I couldnt stop laughing.

Much better second stage but that still means horrible in terms of competitive.

Why are there BIG rocks on the road?

Finished with 3 penalty's overall. Had a scare early in the second stage where I don't know how I saved myself from going over the edge. Last stage I rolled the car once and survived and also wasted 10 seconds on another part of it trying to get back on the road without hitting the y button to avoid the reset and auto penalty but ended up having to use it anyway.

Ran through it yesterday. If I never see Greece again, it will be too soon. I do nothing but struggle there.

Greece is a pain in the ass. I try to drive it like a snow course, because if you hook one wheel on the side of a cliff, you go careening off the other side. Every time. It's so hard to keep it centered in the middle of the track there. I'm slower there than most other locales, but I think it's because I just pussyfoot around everywhere trying to keep the car in the middle (and I still end up with a couple of penalties). I can't even beat the AI on Open, as it's the only location I think I've never won a rally at.

So yeah, I agree.

Yeah, I went thru that from stage 3 on. Thing is sometimes I just want to press Y and take the penalty as I am left hanging forever eating precious seconds while I am desperately pressing Y but it won't let me. Is there a way around it? I mean I am willing to take the 15 seconds penalty so why leave me hanging in there to prolong my agony?

On the plus side, I finished all stages without any server issues.

My stage one correctly explained.

Wrath of the Gods? I maybe should have raced under the Greek flag?

So, by fluke i found out that Best Buy up here was having a VIP sale. I ordered the TM TX 458 Italia Edition for $299, which is $200 off the regular price. They had the "leather edition" that comes with the better pedals on sale for $449....... I figure if i hate the wheel, I can swap it for something else, but I'm not that picky.

As for the pedals, i can pick up the fancier pedals for $99 down the road, so that still has it $50 cheaper overall...... I'm not interested in a clutch though. But I don't think the regular Italia brake pedal has the thing where it progressively gets harder, does it? That would be a nice thing to have maybe......

So, as long as BB didn't screw me over and end up cancelling the order (it's happened before to me) I'll probably look for a wheel stand. Anyone here use one? Any recommendations? My Xbox is in the basement (as any Dragon can attest!) and my comfy LazyBoy sofa is the only chair down here with no room for anything else, so i'd like a stand that works for sitting on a sofa.......

I wasn't planning on getting a wheel anytime soon, but $200 off was too good to pass up. If any Canuck wants, look today as the sell ends at midnight i believe.

Default pedals are trash. You'll want better ones almost immediately.

I used an XLerator Wheel stand and it was awesome. Highly recommended.

In a theater waiting for the movie to start. I'll elaborate later lol

It all depends on how discerning you are. :) I have the default pedals and while they are not the greatest, I have not felt the need yet to upgrade, but it is cool that I can. Thanks to Mix, I have the Wheel Stand Pro V2 (first link below) and it has worked very well. They have a new version that is even nicer if you are going to go with the upgraded pedal set (2nd link).

Also, there is a $10 DIY brake pedal mod for the TX that gives some progression without breaking the bank. I have not done it yet myself. Here it is from the folks at Inside Sim Racing:

I checked out Terry's suggestion for a stand and it's not sold anywhere in canada, but the wheelstand pro is. So that may be the way to go.

As for the pedals, I figure i'll try them out and see. It's cool that 10$ will mod the brakes though. Or if all else fails, maybe i'd splurge on the pedals (which then means I need to make sure I get the deluxe wheel stand)

Not that any of this will make me a better driver, but it will make me have more fun. I'm 40, and spend too much time drinking and playing virtual hockey with strangers, so i might as well stick with a similar hobby. :P
