I know they haven't even played game 3 yet but I wonder if my man-crush Iginla regrets (supposedly) snubbing the Bruins for the Pens....

Holy $hit! It's 2013 and people who consider themselves hockey fans are still making statements like this about the officiating in an NHL playoff series? Everybody gets away with an assload of cheap stuff! It's the most inconsistently officiated sport this side of pro wrestling and there are about 2-3 majors missed or ignored in virtually every period. Hell, it's taken years off XXXIV's life fer chrissake!

It's the same BS as the NBA. It's impossible to enforce the rulebook as written and it's impossible to see a huge % of the infractions. The only possible result from that is hideously unjust and inconsistent enforcement of the rules. I can't imagine watching the sport without understanding that sometimes you'll get screwed, and knowing that there are guys on every team falling over themselves to take every possible cheap shot.

I'm not even remotely worried about this series, FWIW. Chicago sleepwalked through 2 periods and but for that freak back-of-the-blocker save by Quick, would have sent the game to OT. They might have one more game like that in the series, but I'm far less concerned than I was by the threat from that surprising Detroit team.

No truer words have been spoken. The moment the playoffs start the rulebook (selectively) gets thrown out - whether or not clutch and grab gets called is random.

Who said anything about getting screwed? I didn't say the Kings were getting screwed or that missed calls don't happen. I actually think NHL officiating is pretty good for the most part, all things considered. Trust me, there are people on this board who have WAY more problems with NHL officiating than I do ;-). Calls were missed and will always get missed. It's my opinion that in this series so far the Hawks have gotten away with some of the more dangerous plays, that's all. Just an observation and I'd like to see the NHL come down harder on these types of plays.

Keith suspended one game. Sounds about right to me.

Yeah, after 22 stitches, and a couple of broken teeths at least the incident got reviewed which was my main concern initially.

Agreed. OTOH, I laughed out loud at Shanahan's comment about Carter's slashing Keith across the hand being inconsequential. Shanahan would have eaten Carter's spleen with a nice chanti if he were Keith in that situation. :)

I am touched that people care but zebra hunting is what I do. Its natural. True there is much self sacrifice but the hard work is a reward all in itself. :)

Keith earned that game off. If he had been given one or two more I would have had no problem with it. s*** like that is NOT cool.

Why he apologized! 8)

I hope the Pens trainer has plenty of Vagisil in the med kit for between periods because his team's vaginas appear to be inflamed tonight. Didn't they learn anything from game 1? The bear LIKES to be poked.

It worked as Pens are back on their game now, but give me a f-ing break with these calls. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this is ridiculous the calls that aren't being made against the Penguins while the Bruins can't touch a Pen without being whistled.

On a serious note :P

This has been BY FAR the best game of a bad series. At least for the Pens.

Crosby has sucked ass so far while Malkin has been Malkin

Penguins have one period to live.

Live you assholes!

Agreed the Pens look more like themselves tonight. Their speed is a major factor in this game where it wasn't in games 1 and 2.

I take back all above whining regarding Pen favoritism from the stripes. What a brutal slashing call on Murray right there.
