The Van der Vaart signing was pretty exciting to me back when it came out of the blue, and he sure is paying off. Never particularly cared for Pavlyuchenko, Keane is worthless, and Crouch is so limited--good to find another consistent scorer beyond Defoe.

They continue to struggle in CL games but a least they got a point. Ronaldinho is a shadow of his former self and Ronaldo didn't do much either. Inzaghi was offside.

Apparently there will be no further ramifications as the referee 'saw the incident during the game' and his failure to apply any disciplinary action precludes any further developments from the Premier League.

The Football League Trophy, open to all teams from the 3rd and 4th tiers of English football and currently bearing the Johnstone's Paint name for commercial reasons. I think it was still called the LDV Vans Trophy last time Wednesday were a League One team, mate. In my youth it was the Auto Windscreens Trophy, Dave probably calls it the Sherpa Van Trophy, but whatever it is, it's a waste of time.

Having said that, there's a trip to Wembley in it for the finalists. Having said that, I live the thick end of 300 miles away from Wembley and I'm sure I couldn't be bothered going even if we did make the final.
