They call a time out. Im expecting either the fg unit for the long kick try or one more play to get closer. What do they do?

They f***in punt....are you f***in kidding me?

Thats embaressing.
Ya I posted earlier when I was playing vs the vikes, they had the ball at the 20/30 something for a game typing fg with 20 sec left but ran a play instead of going for the tying fg. Hopefully the patch fixes these things up.
This is why I hate EA...Im 100% sure they spotted this bullshit and just ignored it to ship the game on time... The suits at that company are the biggest douchebags in the industry bar none.

EDIT...Meanwhile Im probably going to end up voting for Madden as sports game of the year :P

game is growing on me too. I went back to play ncaa night online and it was so wide open. At one point, the online opponent and I were just trading TDS. I think the IQ thing is cool, but the game gets too grind it out. Almost seems fake. But when I switched to regular modes, I feel the game is much more playable. You can run and pass when you get the right situations like it should be. IQ at times just seems scripted at times where some players get superhuman speed.

One thing still bugging me is the cpu offense isn't explosive enough. I had my 2nd franchise game vs the colts and all they did was dink and dunk. I don't want to see this playing manning, i want to see him go long and try to burn me with his great WR's and his great QB'ing. But this has always been a problem with EA football so I don't know if they were ever fix it. I won the game 13-3 w/ the vikes, but the colts shouldn't be held to 3 points vs me.

The game is fun and I have not enjoyed console football in a long time.

I really like the fact that I can customize my difficulty rather than a ton of sliders!!!!!!

That said, I cannot believe the bland presentation and the borderline awful graphics in this game. 2K5 is still light years ahead in this department. I have the PS3 version and the graphics really are poor. While there are some nice in game animations, the running looks completely awkward. The white outline on all the players makes them look painted on the screen. Yuck.

You may want to check your display settings on your PS3 then. The game definitely does not look poor.

I didn't bother to do it in the game. It lets you quit out of it and then one of the choices is something like "do not ask again."

But if you play computer, even an exhibition game, it gives you an IQ score anyways, based on how you do.

on the team select screen, you can press X (360) and it'll bring up options to go to the regular game modes (rookie.allpro.allmadden.superstar).

As for the graphics, i don't see a white outline, maybe it's something on the ps3 version? The graphics aren't as colorful as ncaa, but they're more detailed. The day games look great but night games suck due to the bad lighting. Exactly opposite as in NCAA the night games look totally awesome, great lighting, and the day games are good.

I don't like the ugly menu and presentation boxes.

I checked that site out and didn't even know where to start. I don't buy many PSP games anyway. Madden 09 came bundled with my blue PSP.

Actually, I think the PSP version of Madden took a step backwards in 09. They added a rookie mode supposedly there to help those that never played it on the PSP and while the idea is a good one, they failed in the execution. So for newcomers playing offense for example, you only get to press only the X button as you read your receivers' pattern and once you see him open a green circle will appear above the players' pattern and all you do is press X.

I managed to complete passes even when a receiver was covered (red circle color) and the CPU would pick the wrong receiver (showing green) while another guy would be completely open. Then you still have to use the nub for kicks-offs. Thankfully, you get the advanced mode too.

Playing online was a nightmare, the game lags badly. So if you're planning to get a new PSP by any means get the package, but otherwise i would stick with 08.

Supposedly the white outline on the players is just PS3. The overall game just has some really bad looking aspects to it. Yes, the grass and weather effects are very nice. The lighting on some stadiums at certain times of day is nice. But most of the movement in replays is laugh out loud bad. And the textures in some instances are just grainy and over sharp.

And don't even get me started on the crowd...what year is it???

Again, I am enjoying the game, I just can't believe this is what we have from EA Sports in 2008.

I like the crowds in ncaa better. I like the crowd AI in ncaa but not sure if madden has that or not.

I haven't tried any rain or snow games but everyone is saying they look great. I think the reason they made the graphics the way they did is for one thing : EASPORTSWORLD.COM.

Because when you view your replays on EAsportsworld.com, madden's look F'N Real World Life Like Amazing! The animations really come out on the replays and sometimes you can't distinguish from real life or videogame.

Compare my ncaa and madden repls :

edit : Well I had them on here but the embed stuff had like 100 lines of code then the video.

Boy, I have mixed reactions about this game when I play.

Sometimes it's awesome, other times it keeps you thinking wtf. It's not like ncaa where it's broken but fun, but it does so many good things then it doesn't. Madden is not broken like ncaa.

for example, I still can't get over that Peyton Manning did not try one deep pass during my game vs the colts. I guess it may have to do with the fact that all the teams play the same where in ncaa they differ. I am still finding my season w/ the vikes fun since I have a great Rb and not so great QB on offense. And the defense is good but maybe it's bec. the cpu offense is inept.

Maybe the game makes adjustments during the season so maybe in week 10, they'll be scoring on me more than they are now.

I may just suck......actually i know i suck, but i'm using Heel's sliders that sportdan posted earlier in this thread and in two season games with the Patriots i have been thumped by both the Chiefs and the Jets. The Jets put up 41 points on me. The games have been fun and i certainly can't say the CPU offense is inept using that setup.

I will say, however, that neither team put up huge rushing numbers but that's been a Madden issue for years now.

You may have solved the cpu ineptness, get out of the IQ mode and do the regular difficulty modes. I think I will try this my next game. So far, I've only allowed 3 points to the cpu offense the last 3 games. I've scored 10, 13, and 27. Basically all 3 games have been carbon copies of themselves, which does not equate into enjoyment if you are playing the same game over and over again.

I will switch to the regular difficulties and see what happens. Maybe the cpu is inept with IQ on because my IQ score must not be high enough? I don't know, but will try this out.

Silly question. When Madden loads for me, the title screens and the game is all in letterbox. However, I'm running on a 21.6 inch monitor, and every other game, including Head Coach, runs fine at 720p and fills up the screen perfectly.

Am I missing an option in one of the settings screens or something in the game? It can't be my Xbox, as everything else runs fine.....

I changed to All Madden , no sliders, and the game was great, cpu offense actually drove and scored! It wasn't really their offense but their defense. They got 4 sacks on me, a safety, and a force fumble. I think I will stay with default all madden and see where it gets me. BTW I played the Saints and lost 26-17.

The 'IQ" thing is broken. Just use either one of the default difficulties or use 'Custom'.

I made the change to custom and am getting gashed by Portis and Campbell is making some downfield throws. That is definitely the way to go--I really like the 'reaction time' slider, it makes it more beneficial to switch players against the run.

wow i didnt even know there was a reaction time slider. so what does it do, just make changing your players faster?

It seems to slow down how quickly your AI teammates figure out the play and charge towards the ball, so it is probably similar to the awareness slider. The defense seems to swarm too quickly on a running play, this has helped so far.

Well, to reply to myself......

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but i found on another forum that people say you have to run the game in 720 to get the bars to go away? I'm using a VGA adaptor and running at 1280 x1024, which works for everything else.

I wouldn't mind it if the bars were small, but basically at the moment, the game takes up just 1/2 to 3/4 of my screen, with the rest being black.

I guess I'll try changing my display to 720 after I get home from work..... see if that helps.
