The best instance of momentum I've seen in a baseball game happened to me last night. A ball was hit over Heyward's head in right field...he went back on the ball, turned around and caught it backpedaling...There was a guy tagging from second to go to third and even last year, Heyward would have stopped on a dime and thrown a BB to third. This time, I tried to throw right away and Heyward stopped his momentum but threw off his back foot and short hopped the cutoff man even (who was just outside of the infield grass behind second base. He just got nothing on the ball. Unreal. That just has never been in a game before...the momentum completely ruining a throwing arm. Awesome.
I had an opposite situation happen to me in a Cubs Spring Training game last night. . .was able to properly catch a ball with Fukudome (with my momentum coming toward the infield) and nail a guy at home on a failed sacrifice fly attempt. The game rewarded me for trying to apply proper technique and I think I am still smiling a bit inside for it. . .

I am new to The Show (have only had the PS3 since the holidays) and simply am amazed by the attention to detail in this game. It has totally lived up the hype. I had heard it was the best and now there just isn't any doubt.

Fellas,

anyone have any feedback on the ps2 version of the game? If the gameplay is solid I may just grab a dirt cheap used ps2 just for this game.

I would say this is your time to buy a PS3, too bad you missed the Kmart deal where they were giving away a free copy of The Show 11 with the purchase of a PS3.

I haven't played the PS2 version since the game went to the PS3 but it still is very good but not like what you would find on the PS3. If you can hold out I would stick with MVP 2005 and try and download rosters from OS.

After a couple weeks with the analog controls now, I love 'em. They make the game sort of breezy, in a way it's never been. I finally ironed out my problems throwing to first base by accepting that, the way I hold the controller, I basically have to flick it diagonally to hit true east with the stick, and am almost always in the green now.

Still not enough walks in the game overall, but games are exciting and unpredictable, so I'll give it a pass for now.

My batting is slowly coming around. I really have to concentrate on hitting a pitch where I'm looking for it at first, then go into contact mode and swing at more when I have 2 strikes.

I was even able to beat the Phillies this morning with my Pirates, 2-1.

An interesting thing in the game, Victorino hits an inside the park home run for the Phils (we were playing in Forbes Field by the way). At the end of the inning, they talked about his home run, but actually showed a replay of one I hit earlier in the game. Strange.

I had an amazing game last night as the Royals taking on the Red Sox. It was a nail biter up until the 6th inning or so when I took a 4 run lead and was able to hold on for the win. Dice-K got hurt early, so they brought in Wakefield and his stuff was just nasty and it took me 3 innings to figure him out. I had the nasty curve working with Jeff Francis almost all game and that really helped me out. You could just feel the intensity of the game, it just delivers such an amazing experience.

Something I found out last night playing RTTS, maybe its old maybe its new. When on the base paths, when the ball is hit, you can change the camera to an action cam that follows the ball by pressing and holding R2+L2 to get back to your player just let the triggers go. Pretty cool when you're safe on the base or in between bases.

Question, with classic base running on...

If I have runners on 1st and 3rd, how do I send the runner on 1st without sending the runner on 3rd?

Just encountered a couple of bugs. Had an opposite fly to left that bounced out of the LF glove and disappeared over the fence, for what should have been a home run. The LF runs in place for a few seconds then reaches thru the wall and grabs the ball and throws it to the cutoff man. Fortunately I had M. Brantley running and he still got an inside the park,so the result was the same.
Then the dreaded freeze after the game was over. After watching the highlights, the box comes up that asks me if I want to save the highlights. After clicking no,the box begins to disappear, and then freezes. I couldn't even hit the center button on the controller to quit the game, had to turn off the console with the power button on the back
I pitched my a$$ off to win that game. Hope this was a 1 time thing with the freezing. So far 3-1 in my 14 game season with the Indians. Great pitching so far,but as in real life, scoring with the Tribe is difficult. My 3 wins have resulted in 6 ,3 ,and 2 runs, and was shut out in my loss. Got the feeling this is going to bite be in the rear pretty soon.

Not sure if this will help, JRod, but I always just push the stick to the runner I want to control, and then hit the button for the base I want him to run to. Pretty easy, and you just do it again if you want him to stop or run back. Good luck.

Finally decided on a team for my season. I will be going with the Atlanta Braves this year. They have a lot of which I like, most importantly power from the left side. Not sure about their relief staff but they have solid starting pitching. I also like the simplicity of Turner field. Stadium looks great, and it's not too busy like some of the other ball parks.

They had one of the top bullpens last year and this year they will be even better. They have some arms. You'll be fine with them as your team. No one else gives them a shot cuz they are in the Phillies division, but I've got high hopes this year. It's gonna be a good one.

I had a bug the other day where I went to the bullpen to change pitchers and I kept getting a message that I had to enter a pitcher that was on the other team. Needless to say I had to reboot. It's only happened once so far. I love this game.

Buster Olney agrees. He has the Braves winning the division and Phillies the wild card.

Anybody else pay to play more of the challenge of the week? I sprung $5 to play some more and have really enjoyed it to the point where I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the challenges/prizes throughout the year. Never would've thought so before I gave it a try with the Lincecum/Howard challenge. Fun stuff.

Make that L2 only for action cam

Giving up or drawing walks? I had a couple recent games where I drew 6 + walks (default All-Star, no slider adjustments). Pitching-wise, I think it's the best game I ever played for giving up walks and I'm a stickler for that stuff.

There is definitely something wrong with the way the AI handles their closers. I've seen a few situations where they take them out immediately after giving up a run. Last game I played, Brian Wilson came in with a 3 run lead. He gave up a home run, got two outs, gave up a single, and was pulled for some random lefty to come in and get a one-out save, up by two. Stupid.

The only thing I've seen that needs to be addressed in a patch.

Not giving 'em up. Maybe one walk issued per game. I'm on All-Star right now... maybe control is tougher on Hall of Fame.

I'm still waiting for my mega deal copy of The Show from Modells. I'm still playing last years game and I do hope they have addressed one thing that bugs me about RTTS. If you are a stud SP you'll find yourself traded several times. Come on, totally unrealistic and this has been going on for several years now.

Now that i've been traded from the Rays (AA) to the Angels (AAA) and now the White Sox this kind of sucks. Oh well i'll teach them, i'm going FA and signing with the Yankees. :)

Wait...stud pitches get traded all the time in real life. Hell, Cliff Lee's been traded like ten times it seems.

And a lot of those trades would have Show players demanding a patch for the GM AI. :D

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned to manager that the team has bad clubhouse chemistry. Maybe I shouldn't keep asking why he keeps pulling me out of games. :)
