I mean, it's an Internet Forum, right?

I think there's a good chance of a PM getting out with that sort of thing anyway, though.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:sportdan30 wrote:Yeah, I knew that would start a fire storm. It's unfortunate. Are other people really *seriously* looking for free copies??!! It's an easy thing to jokingly request for one too...

I'm pretty sure they are serious request, Russel posted the guy made a genuine request for information and wasn't asking for a free copy so that's why he offered. Some other guy was saying he made the same inquiries in another thread or something, I stopped reading too much thread reading at OS can lead to a loss of neurons.

But doesn't more systems = more sales for your game? That's the motivation. If they give the game away when someone buys a system, isn't that motivation eliminated?10spro wrote:But on the other hand what may have been like an honest and innocent response by Russell, if I wanted more PS3 in people's living room wouldn't this action and package be a great way to get Sony selling more consoles before their so called price drop?
True, but in this ridiculous economic depression it would have been Sony's response to their 'Stimulus Package'.dbdynsty25 wrote:But doesn't more systems = more sales for your game? BTW the PSP version has some serious punch as well, with improved presentation and graphics, the batting stats are more accurate and realistic than 08 where you could almost hack at every pitch thrown at you. They've even added 'Legend' mode as well and with that the AI is much tougher.
The rosters however are also outdated, if you have a PSP you ought to try this baby.
Agree about the PSP version. I got it on release day and have played it quite a bit since then. I keep reading how the graphics and the lack of choppiness are the main upgrades, but that is not really true. Those things have certainly been improved however the game engine itself is a lot better as well. The hitting is now much tougher than ever before. The CPU pitches a smarter game, and I am finding the stats in general to be very realistic. RTTS is quite a bit of fun on the PSP, but it's the regular season play that is drawing me in more and more. Certainly an incredibly deep handheld sports game. Between Show 09 and PP on the Wii I will be doing just fine to get me baseball fix.
I've had the game for a few days now. Only played it a bit but it seems perfect. So much detail, all the little issues from last year seemed to be fixed, looks gorgeous. I've already had a few exciting games. I can see myself finishing a season in a sports game for the first time in many years.

This game is just ridiculously good. Last night I played a game against the Royals. Lohse against their number 3, Bannister who was 9-16 last year. What a difference between a number one and number 3! I was able to work the count many times in my favor and bang out some really nice hits. I had three doubles, two of which went past first and third base in to the corners. The other was a deep fly between left and center. I had could possibly had a triple, but Molina was the batter.
Last night was the first time I felt really comfortable batting. I changed my approach to hitting and the results were very positive. Granted, I'm still playing on Veteran. Prior to the pitch, I use the right stick to aim up or down, left or right, etc to influence the ball. Instead of using the left stick, I simply just pressed the contact or power button. I sprayed the ball or at least made contact much better than using the left stick. Bannister only struck me out twice through seven innings. That's a record for me! Looking forward to seeing how this approach works against a team's number two starter tonight.
I freakin' love this game!

I haven’t been using either stick when hitting, just pressing the x-button (timing only). I know the manual says the timing only technique is for the beginner level only, but I’m getting realistic results with it on the All-Star level. Nice variety of hits in all directions. I haven’t even been using the power button (square) and seem to be getting a realistic amount of homeruns and doubles. I’m keeping it simple!sportdan30 wrote:This game is just ridiculously good. I also faced Bannister in a game at KC this weekend. I didn’t do as well as you did against him, I lost a tight 3-1 pitchers’ duel, him against Jake Westbrook. My only run scored on a sweet stand-up triple by Grady Sizemore, one of those shots down the right field line that hugged the wall and ricocheted around the corner in KC.
Grady struck out once because I swung at a bad pitch. The announcer said something like “What was he doing swinging at a pitch like that, it was at least foot outside!” When he went back to the dugout he just sat there with his head down while manager Eric Wedge b*tched him out big time! I was expecting Grady to lift his head, look straight at the camera and point saying, “IT WAS HIS FAULT, SKIPPER!!!” (meaning me). Ha!

In my game against Bannister, I set the weather to clear skies, although overcast. Therefore, I wasn't at a disadvantage with the shadows or the sun. I was able to really pick up the baseball very well. That's just another cool aspect about the game. I've played a game where the pitcher was in the sunlight and I was in the shadows. I definitely wiffed on the ball more times than I made contact because I had a hard time picking up the baseball.

LOL...someone's new signature.JRod wrote:OK here's my million dollar question as I look at getting a PS3.
For you HH'ers out there? Does this one knock of MVP 05 and HH. If the gametime are their stupid gameplay errors that really knock the game or they happen so infrequently it doesn't matter.
As for the game...the Show has surpassed HH as far as I'm concerned. It does just about everything as good as HH, except for maybe the time it takes to play a game. That's pretty much the only downside to the Show as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't understand your last question. But to answer your first, as a whole MLB The Show '09 is definitely far and a way better than both MVP 05 and HH. That said, there are things that each of those two titles do a tad bit better. The Show has gotten much much better in terms of it's pitching interface, but HH was darn near perfect. MVP '05 did a better job of allowing manual fielding. The Show has come a very long way, but the fielding is not on par with MVP '05 in my opinion. However, it's still very enjoyable to play in the field and turn double plays, track balls in the outfield, etc.JRod wrote:OK here's my million dollar question as I look at getting a PS3.

Other than that, The Show kicks HH and MVP '05 to the curb once and for all.
Hopefully, that rumored digital download (ditching UMD) version of PSP comes to fruition, but you're right about the game playing great.10spro wrote:As in most PSP games, the loading sucks. Do you have to have an older firmware version to be able to do that?WillHunting wrote:The loading is still long (playing it through memory stick/custom FW) but much better than UMD.Murph wrote: Hopefully, that rumored digital download (ditching UMD) version of PSP comes to fruition, but you're right about the game playing great.
