I'm really enjoying the "classic" style pitching. I think it does make pitching a bit more challenging, and it also speeds up the game. No more watching the meter. My question though is if you hold down the button longer, does that increase the velocity of the pitch, but also lose a little bit of control?
I like using the meter pitching but I wish there was a way to make the meter invisible. Classic just seems to detached for me...it's to much more engaging trying to find your release point. I try to never look at the meter when I'm pitching. I just go by the timing of the pitcher's motion.
The hit variety is even better in 08. I'm seeing more doubles this year, especially on balls down the line.
AI pitchers work the corners more effectively too. There were a few too many breaking pitches over the heart of the plate in 07 for my tastes.
The CPU offense seems less potent though. On All Star default I was shutting them down with ease. I feel as though the AI doesn't punish you enough for mistake pitches over the heart of the plate. I threw 3 scoreless innings on HoF throwing just fastballs down the middle.
Overall I'm really digging it. I'll agree that not much has changed since the PS2 days but everything has been polished so well. The physics, the animations - it just feels so mich tighter and realistic. But if I didn't already own a PS3 I doubt I would run out and pick one up just for this game, especially if you had already started to tire of the series.

Yes and yes. I was a meter guy last year but switched to classic during the latter half of my time with the demo and i'm sold. The flow feels so much better to me. I also have turned the pitch indicator from Fade to Off and i am REALLY enjoying the challenge. Basically it gives you the glove but once you select your pitch it disappears so you're on your own in terms of hitting your spots with the stick and pitch selection. It's not easy, but i like the "control" it gives me. It makes ringing someone up feel so much better to me also.I'm really enjoying the "classic" style pitching. The PSP plays similar to last year's version which is great. Some new animations and no much change graphics wise. Preferred the classic style pitching after a few games and yes it does seem that the longer you press the button, the speed of the pitch increases although you may sacrifice the control. It also depends who's on the mound. Love the in-game save, it should be included on all games.
Great to see an update rosters when I jumped online. It's effective as of Feb 29th.

I've been playing RTTS mode mostly and have been seeing some weird things. I'm still in spring training as a #B with the Cubs.
- I have yet to been given a sign. No steals, no hit and runs, no bunts. I'm batting in the 8 hole and this morning I am up with runners on 1st and 2nd with no one out and we are down by 1. I was thinking I would get the bunt sign..nope.
- Another 9th inning head scratcher, we are down 1 and I am up with a runner on first and 2 outs. I double so we have 2nd and 3rd and the manager lets the pitcher hit. At least the commentators were smart enough to notice the blunder.
- I am manning 3rd and i see a little message play for the bunt so I do. Bunt is popped up on the first base side, no way i can get to it. But the pitcher and the catcher just go stand there and let it drop between them.
- Fielding is still pointless you don't get any training points for it so I don't get why I need it.
- Same goes for base running, whats the point.
I haven't played enough single games to notice any weird managerial logic but I was hoping for more from RTTS 2.0

That's not true. I got like 10 points for having 3 assists at SS the other day. Plus I got points for turning a double play.Danimal wrote:

I also got points for stealing a base.

After the game it breaks down a summary of your points gained in the game.Danimal wrote:Where are you seeing those points?bkrich83 wrote:That's not true. I got like 10 points for having 3 assists at SS the other day. Plus I got points for turning a double play.Danimal wrote:

Well, you're right on many things. I dont want to sour this game for everyone, but there seems to be a lot of bugs. At least more than the ps2 version I played the last 2 years. It's still a solid game, and hopefully these things are patched up soon online.Danimal wrote:I've been playing RTTS mode mostly and have been seeing some weird things. couldn't find myself a retail copy so I decided to plug away at the demo some more. Something that just blew me away and things like this may well have been in games in the past ( i just never noticed) but I was playing with the Sox and Ellsbury was on 1st, Lugo it a little texas leaguer up the middle and I noticed Ellsbury was watching the ball. So I replayed it several times and he followed it until it landed, I even zoomed in on his face and not only saw his head move, but his EYES followed the ball. How cool is that!!!
I hate reading the little things that are appearing to be wrong, STOP IT!! Nah its ok, just hope its all patch able!

I'm purposely not reading any of the bug/glitches thread. Fortunately, none of the bugs have shown up in any of the games I've played thus far. I'm not concerned at this point.XXXIV wrote:Youve come to the wrong place... I have so much appreciation for Kolbe, Chris, and the gang that I'm very optimistic that there will be a patch made available to at least clear up some of the issues. No way everything will or can be addressed, but these guys seem so dedicated to making the best game possible. If this was an EA game with different developers, my outlook on fixing these issues would not be so bright.

I'm not saying there's a need as I haven't experienced any problems yet. I would say the majority of people haven't. However, there is always a vocal minority. In the case of Madden, it wasn't the minority though.greggsand wrote:Wow, this game just came & there's patch talk already?
But, it does seem every game gets patched at least once nowadays. If you think MLB 2K8 isn't going to have bugs, specifically ones brought up within the first few days, then you'll be greatly disappointed.
That said, just enjoy the game. It gets frustrating when others purposely look for issues. My advice would be to turn a blind eye until you're affected.
