Let's give Kessel the benefit of the doubt, there are rumors that he might have cancer.pk500 wrote:No doubt. Kessel was dogged by rumors of a "lazy, bad attitude" all last season, which caused his draft stock to drop. Remember, there were scouts two and three years ago who put Kessel on the same or a higher level than Crosby.
I sure hope this isn't the start of a Bryan Fogarty nightmare for Kessel. Still the saddest story I can recall in sports:

Now who's going to replace M. Kitchen to coach a bunch of overpaid underachievers?
P. Nevded waived for the second time this season. If nobody claims the Czech, it's safe to say his career is over.
P. Bondra to the Hawks is a great addition to CHI, reuniting him with Havlat and Smolinski in their OTT days. Good pick up, I wish VAN took his contract in lieu of our offensive problems this year.

I am glad A. Murray is a getting a second chance. Frankly, I thought he would have been great in Columbus when the position was still open, with a younger group there but he'll do just fine in St Louis. He's a great communicator, now they just have to get rid of some veterans.
M. Kitchen won't be out of a job for long, but perhaps as an assistant next time.

Havlat looked FANTASTIC Sunday night against the Oil. A ton of jump, great backhander over Roli for a goal. Showed no ill effects of the injury at all.10spro wrote:Now who's going to replace M. Kitchen to coach a bunch of overpaid underachievers?

I believe something is going to go down. The Blues and Oilers have some history on the trade front. We seem to have what you want, you seem to have what we want. Even with the new coach, they have got to send a message to some of the players. I know we want young players and draft picks. We'll see what happens.pk500 wrote:Funny you ask, my friend! Very good move for the Blues. Murray gets a long term deal and the Blues are just about ready for a firesale on their veteran players. The future of the team is promising and we've got several top prospects that will play in the WJC later this month. There will be a few kids playing here next year, plus we are going to get another top pick in the 2007 draft, maybe a couple before all is said and done. Now is the best time to be a new coach coming to the Blues without a doubt. Murray just has to get through the rest of the year and then he can start looking towards the future.Naples39 wrote:I always thought he was an excellent coach who did great things with the Kings. I have to say that the Hawks have been doing better than I had hoped they would under Savard. They are definitely playing better hockey and have gained a point in each of the 8 games under Savard (5-0-3). The return of Havlat has made an impact on the offense and even Bondra lit the lamp in his first game as a Blackhawk. I've always like Bondra and just hope he isn't too old to contribute.
Tallon has gone on record saying that he will not trade Keith or Seabrook and the signing of Bondra confirms that. I really like the direction the team is heading. With Havlat back, Bourque back, Bondra in, and Khabibulin playing much better I like the Hawks chances of making a run at the playoffs.
A lot of people doubted the hiring of Savard at the time but a lot of people forgot that he was an assistant coach for 9 years and a brilliant offensive mind when he played the game. He seems to know how to play in the new NHL more than Yawney ever did.
Another plus is how well the Norfolk Admirals are doing. It looks like the Hawks have a fine stable of young players for the future.

Crosby gets 6 points tonight in an 8-4 win over the Flyers but the highlight of the night was Jordan Staal scoring a shorthanded goal with less than 10 seconds to go in the game, a meaningless goal but still it was a beauty.

A career-high six points for Crosby in the demolition of the Flyers, a goal and five assists.

Fun lead story now at ESPN.com. Choose from a group of all-time great forwards to make your four best lines, and vote. Players don't have to be in their ideal positions:
My selections:
1st: M. Richard-Gretzky-Howe
2nd: Esposito-Lemieux-Lafleur
3rd: Dionne-Messier-Bossy
4th: Morenz-Yzerman-Bo. Hull
I looked for a mix of scoring, creativity and toughness on my four lines. My second line definitely would need a strong pair of defensemen!
How about you cats?
Take care,
PK

JR was a washout already even before the season started. He would be good sitting in a booth and do some outrageous commentary.
Those Pens were just flying yesterday, toying almost with Philly.
Ironic how ANA drops the name "Mighty" and the Ducks this season are just that. Setting a new NHL record for most points during their 1st 15 roads games. Can anyone beat them?

Anaheim still can't score many goals. So if Jiggy or Bryzgalov, or Pronger or Niedermayer get hurt, the Dicks are going to be vulnerable. I still think Buffalo's depth at forward, combined with an underrated defense, could wear down Anaheim in a seven-game series as long as Miller is sharp in net every game.

I like the Sabres beating Anaheim if it comes down to that, especially in a seven game series.pk500 wrote:The F*cks look good, but I remember pundits claiming Ottawa was unbeatable at this time last year, too.10spro wrote:Ironic how ANA drops the name "Mighty" and the Ducks this season are just that.
