Yeah haven't some past WC games been received better than the FIFA games that year?

When I pointed this out, 10spro advised me of this tweet from EA SPORTS, so *some* WC content will work it's way into next-gen FIFA but, I agree, it is something of a disappointment...

For fans on X1/PS4, #FIFA14 will have a range of World Cup content and tournaments within FUT. More news closer to the tournament. 2/2

Just so we're clear Dan, my comment was not directed at you but at another site with another "OMG screen shot" story. I really don't care what anyone posts in here, this is all of our places to hang out and shoot the s***.

I'm just curious how both system have so many missing promised features almost 5 months after launch and that's not a story.
No offense taken. Honestly, I don't know why I even care anymore at age 40. Visually, I have a hard time telling a difference when playing the same game on the Xbox One and PS4. That wasn't the case last gen, especially when it came to EA Sports game, at least initially. As I said, I have both systems, and they each offer something different and positive. As predicted, I'm playing my Xbox One more thus far, because it's firmly planted in our family room with the PS4 in our basement.

Excellent point regarding the missing features. I liken it to Presidential candidates in which they very rarely follow up on their promises.

You have DirecTV, right? Do you run TV through the console, and do you have issues? My DirecTV Tivo still has issues if I use Instant On instead of Energy Saving. I've heard the Genie is better, but I want to confirm before changing with someone that has it. What are you using?

It's all such a blur I don't even remember who promised you would be able to jump in your friends game and take control of it. I will bet money that feature never comes out.

That was Sony. I know they said you could view your friends playing a live game, and I seem to recall being able to take control but I'm not 100 percent sure on that last part.

So I broke down and got a One tonight. So far just messed with the menus while NBA took 10 hours to install..... give or take.

Dumb question time. For the audio settings, I see that the Dolby stuff is being patched in eventually..... so right now my choices are 5.1 uncompressed, or DTS surround.

DTS is better than just the 5.1 right? I don't think the 5.1 has any special processing?

I guess I'll play NBA whenever its done, and see if DTS gets me sounds out of my surrounds.......

How are you connected to your AV Receiver from the Xbone? If by s/pdif (optical) you want DTS instead of PCM. If by HDMI I imagine you'd want 5.1 uncompressed instead of DTS but I'm not sure so you'd do well to try both and see what works best.

I do have DirecTV. I have not yet upgraded to the Genie, but it is an option if I'm interested. Before the update, I had very few issues. No freezing problems or Instant On issues. Since the update, I'm now suffering from the black screen which is been widely reported. The only way to remedy it is to hold the power button for 10 seconds and have the Xbox One reboot. I am having ocassional freezing problems when watching the ESPN app. Thankfully, I've only had to use it twice to watch the KU games. The instant on feature is rather hit or miss, which is disappointing because I really like using that. The voice commands work probably 90 percent of the time, but it's still that 10 percent that is a little aggravating.

I'm using a HDMI cable from the Directv receiver to my stereo receiver, and have wonderful surround sound.

Have One and Genie running through One with HDMI and ZERO issues.

My PS4 has been acting up the last few days.

I turn off the system, not put in suspend.

But recently, when I start it up with a disc in the system, I hear it read the disc and then suddenly stop and the system doesn't turn on. I have to eject the disc manually and the system starts up. Manually hitting Power on the console doesn't do anything either.

Any ideas if this this is dying or is there a simple fix?

Nah, doesn't sound like it's dying because it wouldn't boot without a disc either. Have you tried booting it with another disc? Have you tried a hardware reset?

ya i tried the shutdown , turn on 3 times after it happened and it worked fine. maybe it happens when it's been off for some hours. I just have had this happen last few days, it was fine before. How do you do you do hardware reset?

I would first unplug the PS4 and let it sit for 15 minutes unplugged, put everything back and try again. If it's still doing the same thing, to do a hardware reset, with the device powered down you press and hold the power button for a little more than 7 secs and you'll see it boot and then the safe mode menu appears then it should restart.

Funny thing where I live is that there haven't been any PS4s or XOnes available for purchase whenever I go into either bestbuy or EB. I've thought about getting one or the other but I've not so far been faced with actually having to decide whether to go through eith it yet LOL.

so..... so far this morning I have tried to play NBA 2k14. Twice when trying to load into an actual game, it just keeps loading forever. I can get back to the Home screen, but the controller won't do anything.

I hard resetted both times. Then once I got into the game and the intro was playing, and my controller didn't respond to button presses, but when i went back to the Home screen the controller worked fine.

Gah. Is this an issue with the game, or with the console? I've already hit the "black screen" after coming out of stand by mode a few times.........

At least I made it through a Blu Ray last night without any issues!

It's the game. Same thing happened to me today when my kid wanted to play. 2k forums report same issue. 2k is a joke.

Ah, ok thanks. Wasn't sure if it was the console or not, as I had a couple black screens when coming back from stand by mode too.

All these problems you guys report with next gen systems have me locking up my wallet even tighter. I clearly recall the huge graphical leap from PS1 to PS2 and then to 360 (the last three console generations I've chosen) and I couldn't resist the wait to upgrade.

Long install times, hardware AND software glitches, no MLB the Show until May make me happy to stay with my 360 for the foreseeable future.

At least when I do take the plunge, I won't have to choose Xbox over PS this time as you've reported versions of both games are pretty well even. The PS3 versions of multi-platform games at launch were severely lacking.

I'm with you, dude. I'm more vested into the 360 than ever.

There are some phenomenal sales on old and recent titles, both brick-and-mortar and in the Xbox marketplace. Most of those games are new to me since I climbed on the 360 train just two years ago.

Agree 100%.

I have quite a backlog of single player titles and with the major multiplayer games still very active online, I have no interest in moving ahead to next gen. And there are still many good games that I haven't played that I will be able to get dirt cheap.

I took the jump to the One a bit earlier than I had planned, but wanted a Blu Ray player in the new man cave...... figured it was get a One, or shell out $100 on a BR player, THEN probably get a console down the road.

Aside from the glitches (of which my problems yesterday were all NBA related, not the console) it's pretty cool. The gesture control on the Kinect is a bit hokey, but the voice commands are usually bang on.

We'll see what develops this gen........ I still have the 360 hooked up, so i have access to NHL and MLB 2k13 for my baseball fix.

In U.S. an XB1 Titanfall bundle is available for preorder at $500. A $60 savings.

In U.K. only XB1 is getting a price drop on Feb 28th, from £429 to £399. And the Titanfall bundle is £399.
