Unfortunately the days of good UI designed for PC users are gone. MVP PC is just a straight console port. I hate that I can't drag and drop players to lineup spots, or even when warming up a pitcher etc.Bill_Abner wrote:I still think running a franchise in MVP is a pain in the pass due to the interface. That's prolly my #1 issue with the game in that I feel like I'm fighting the menus off the field.

I am feeling the same way. It won't stop me from playing the game a whole lot, since most of my time is spent on the field, but it is annoying.Bill_Abner wrote:I still think running a franchise in MVP is a pain in the pass due to the interface. When I started a fantasy draft I immediately ran into issues. There is no way to sort the available players by a particular attribute, like speed. SO if you looking for a leadoff hitter and want to find the fastest guys left, you either have to already know the players with speed, or go through the list by overall ability one at a time looking at their speed. I also hate that I can start a dynasty with budgets on, but while I'm drafting I can't see their contracts.

Well, yes and no. I think roster management and general interface is vastly more important in a baseball game than in any other sport simply because of the number of players and all of the minor league players combined with the daily moving that you have to do. It's a pain in the ass when a A ball CF gets hurt for 14 days in this game.dbdynsty25 wrote:If that's your number one issue, you're doing alright.Bill_Abner wrote:I still think running a franchise in MVP is a pain in the pass due to the interface. MVP wants to give you the whole enchilada, which is great but then it hamstrings you when doing basic functions. Compare this to the GUI of High Heat 2002 PC or OOTP for that matter and MVP's GUI is PAINFUL to use. I know that's because it's a console port but EA has muddled this interface up so much even for a console game.
A huge, huge issue is the CPU Optimize function. It absolutely sucks. Why in the hell can't we designate CPU Optimize say...AAA only? Why when I hit that button does the CPU totally FUBAR my entire damn team? That might be the most asinine design feature I have seen.

Braves at Mets, Smoltz vs. Glavine, pitchers duel all the way, tied 1-1 in the tenth. My bullpen falls apart, gives up 5 runs to the Braves. I think about simming the rest of the way, figure what the hell? Scratch out a run in the bottom of the tenth, then load the bases, and Cliff Floyd hits a grand slam (my first) to tie it 6-6. Game goes five more innings, my bullpen is nearly empty, Zambrano gives me two innings, Looper's forced to throw three innings, pitching out of jams twice. Bottom of the 15th, David Wright hits one into the left field mezzanine, just right of the foul pole, walk off homer. Best baseball game I've ever played!
As long as you optimize in that particular level (AAA, AA, or A) the game will NOT optimize the rest of your team levels. I always select "fix manually" when an injury occurs to one of my minor league teams and then do the optimize from there.A huge, huge issue is the CPU Optimize function. It absolutely sucks. Whenever I get an injury and the optimize chioce is there and I do that it always messed up my entire organization. What am I doing wrong?MizzouRah wrote:As long as you optimize in that particular level (AAA, AA, or A) the game will NOT optimize the rest of your team levels. Ill take a look again tonight but that's still a terrible way to design that. Why not just off the main menu where it says CPU Optimize have a sub window appear when you click on it that asks which level you wish to have the CPU fix? ML, AAA, AA, A or All?Leebo33 wrote:I think he is saying that you should choose to fix manually and then on the screen where you can fix it manually there must be an option to optimize from there.
I'm not sure. Last night was the first time I had to put someone on the DL.

That is a little confusing, when I choose CPU optimize, I have never seen it change anythign except for that particular level.
For instance a AA CF got hurt last night, I said CPU Optimize and it didn't touch my MLB or AAA rosters. I didn't check A.
I've never had it make changes to my MLB roster and I have used that button a ton of times. If I am just getting lucky and it does actually screw your MLB roster then that sucks.

If the injury/suspension happens while simming games, DO NOT select optimize from there, it's messed up my rosters something fierce.
Select "fix manually" from there it will take you to that level's roster and then select "cpu optimize". It only optimizes that particular roster.
Hope this helps.

Also, Bill, did you do your positional rankings? I've heard that helps with some of the optimization issues. I haven't used it yet (I always do everything manually) but that's what I read on OS.
That screen is also great for learning more about your minor leaguers. I found out I had some single A guys who were rated much higher than my AAA players.

To my knowledge you can't.Bill_Abner wrote:Is there a way to view another team's lineup/rotation during the season? I like to browse the league, especially after an off season, just to see how each team is looking; I must be missing something because I can't see how to do this. Any help?
You can view the lineups for that days opponent via the scotuing report on the main menu. But I have found no way to see other teams lineups etc.

Most of my MVP love comes from the game being played on the diamond. To me no other game has been this good at it.
The rest of it is passable at best.

You can check it out looking at the batting/pitching stats screen. But that just has the list of players not a lineup or rotation.Bill_Abner wrote:Is there a way to view another team's lineup/rotation during the season? Are you kidding me? Turn it down to -50...then go to MVP. Saying there are too many homers is ridiculous when you don't have the slider all the way down in the first place, and in the second place...there is a whole 'nother skill level available. Use it.TRI wrote:There are just too many home runs in MVP 2005 on ALL STAR level. I even tried putting the Human batting power slider at -10 and still hit too many home runs. I am going to start playing on MVP level and tweak sliders as needed. IF I find some good sliders for MVP level I may post them.
