Cause they finally beat the Celtics in a playoff series. Pretty classy by LBJ at the end giving props to Boston.Lancer wrote:Why are the Heat celebrating like they won the Finals?

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Sad to see the season end for my C's, seems like the window has been closed shut for them.
Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Fair play to the Hawks for a well-played series, but it was nice to see the Bulls D find its mid-season form again these last two games.
Extra props to the Bulls fans at the game, who managed to cheer without instructions from that pathetic, bush league P.A. announcer.

That was a very satisfying win by the Bulls. Good to see Boozer being aggressive on the offensive end.
Looking forward to the Heat series. Miami is playing their best ball of the season and are going to be very tough, but the Bulls have shown they can handle them defensively.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
I would put my Heat as underdogs in this series. The Bulls are 3-0 against the Heat. The only difference now is as you said the Heat are playing their best ball and the Big 3 have finally jelled and are feeding off each other. Earlier in the season no one was really sure who wanted to stand out. It was like it's D-Wade's team. Now they are playing like it's their team so it doesn't matter who has the big game. Earlier on they played very confused and without an identity.Brando70 wrote:That was a very satisfying win by the Bulls. Good to see Boozer being aggressive on the offensive end.

Still, playing the Bulls and beating them is no easy task. They are really good and Dallas is the best of the bunch. Dirk is a MONSTER.
Re: NBA Season 2010-11
The formula teams use to stop the bulls seems easy, just stop Rose. I think that's the wrong approach. It reminds me of young Jordan. The way teams beat him in his early years, like the Bird Celtics and the Thomas Pistons, were let MJ score, but stop everyone else around him. That worked, until MJ had skilled guys like Pippen later on his career. I'm just a fan, but don't you think that's the best way to stop the bulls? Stop Rose's role players, let him score. If he can score 100 points by himself they deserve to win, but that's not going to happen.
On another note, Simmons had a great article w/ Phil Jackson this weekend in case you missed it :

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Not since the old days of kicking the Knicks to the playoff curb have I been so satisfied by a Bulls playoff win. But seeing them completely shut down the Miami Globetrotters in the second half was a thing of beauty. What you saw last night was talent vs. team, with team running talent out of the arena in the last two quarters. Nearly every Bulls player made a valuable contribution. And nothing made me happier than seeing Taj Gibson feed his nuts to Wade as he dunked over him.
Still a lot of basketball to play and the Heat will be very motivated to come out strong on Wednesday, but that was a tremendous statement game for Chicago.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
My favorite part was hearing Spoelstra tell the team that running iso wouldn't work...and yet seeing the Heat run almost nothing but iso plays for the next 2.5 quarters. They're going to have to install an actual NBA offense by Wednesday.
Well, it was my second favorite part after the complete posterization of Wade.

I called it. CHI will win this series. I think the Bulls played to the Hawks level. The Heat are to the Bulls what the Celtics were to the Heat. It's extra motivation to them.

Looks like the NBA wants to help Cleveland out a bit.
The lottery, why bother with transparency when you can have a little sleight of hand?
Cleveland could use the top pick just as much as Minnesota, though it's suppose to be a weak draft, so it's not a blatant setup like the Knicks getting Ewing the first year of the lottery.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
This draft sucks (probably the worst one in about fifteen years)...I would NOT want to win the lottery this year. You've got a 75% chance of picking someone who's out of the league in 5 years.
And I really hope the Suns don't draft Fredette like the analysts predict. What a disaster he's going to be in the NBA.

have the Suns even drafted anyone since Sarver took over? F#cking cheapskate.dbdynsty25 wrote:This draft sucks (probably the worst one in about fifteen years)...I would NOT want to win the lottery this year. You've got a 75% chance of picking someone who's out of the league in 5 years.

Don't hate on Fredette.
He's going to be better than Adam Morrison.

That's okay. Mo Williams, who the Cavs gave up for that top pick, also has a 75% chance of being out of the league in five years. As it turned out, I think most teams would gladly make that trade and take their chances with the top pick.dbdynsty25 wrote:I would NOT want to win the lottery this year. Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Clippers gave up a lottery pick for Mo Williams?
Wow retarded. Usually they have lottery-protected picks in trades.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Yeah, it was a trade mostly involving the Clippers getting rid of Baron Davis and his salary. The pick had less than a 2% chance of hitting. It was projected to be around the eighth to tenth range. And as everyone here has pointed out, this year's draft sucks, so it seemed like a good idea at the time.wco81 wrote:Clippers gave up a lottery pick for Mo Williams?

See. Home court and everything...gone in an instant. Heat are fine.
Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Lots of lessons in this game.dbdynsty25 wrote:See. Home court and everything...gone in an instant. Heat are fine.
Rose cannot finish against the quickness and length of this defense, so he needs to dish when he drives or pull up for a jumper.
When Haslem plays like that it's a totally different Heat team. But I'd be willing to bet more than walking around money that he doesn't have another night like that.
The Heat are capable of playing a real NBA motion offense for short stretches...but not 48 minutes.
But the main lesson is one that nobody ever seems to want to learn: Regression to the mean is a b*tch.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
It's not surprising that the Heat won -- as Rob hinted, it's hard to beat a team like that five times in a row. The Bulls offense was terrible, worst performance of the playoffs, and it's surprising they didn't get blown out (and a testament to their defense). They missed their moment when they couldn't convert on a couple of possessions at 73-73.
Sucks to have to wait until Sunday for game 3, but I think the extra time off will be beneficial to the Bulls and give them a chance to sort out their offensive kinks.

Also, hilarious halftime segment last night where Kenny told a story about Barkley calling out Chucky Atkins when Atkins had to guard Barkley during a playoff game.
