I don't even like the PS3 controllers in general, but the control is phenomenal with the Dual Shock, XXXIV. The only thing I haven't really liked is the NASCAR oval racing with the controller, as the fine tuning required for long, sweeping turns seems to be pretty tough.

But even with the default triggers, I think the throttle control with the triggers is dead on. I've been kind of split 50/50 between using the G25 and the controller. For NASCAR races I'm throwing in the wheel, but for a lot of races (like rallies) with a lot of counter steer and tossing the car around, I started using the controller and was extremely surprised.

I actually like the comfort and feel of the DS3 over the 360 controller for racing games with these badboys snapped into place. I am finding the gas/break control to be sublime with the DS3.
That's a very nifty add-on. Big bang for the buck.

I'm too much like PK to spend $5 on something that should have been there in the first place. :)

When I got them I was like "wtf, it couldn't cost more than 20 cents to make these," but they really do make a nice difference for racing games and shooters. Sony should include a pair with every DS3.

Hey if any of you feel like your garage is too clustered, don't forget that you have the option to give away your precious car to a friend. Anything is good.

I am 'xeneixe' on the PS3.

I got the Real Triggers about a month after getting my PS3. They're awesome, but it's sad what a poor job Sony did turning L2 and R2 into triggers.

Dual Shock 2 > Dual Shock 3.

Despite a few positive comments from some of you, especially regarding the driving in the game, I just can't seem to pull the plug on spending $60 on this. I just don't see this game as a full price release. There are simply too many quality games out there which provide better racing AI, better damage, and equally good handling. Heck, right now I'm playing Indianapolis 500 Evolution again, which was a budget title. I'm thinking the AI in that game is still better than GT5, despite the AI not pitting in I500E. And it's certainly got a damage model light years beyond GT5. I pulled Race Driver 2006 from Codies out on my PSP and it likewise is still a fantastic game.

BTW, funny GT5 video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_G9ZSWbnqM

I'd wait if I were you. Within 6 months it should be a greatest hits title. If it weren't for the $40 in Amazon videogame credits I had locked to my GT5 preorder, I would not have purchased GT5. In fact I emailed Amazon and they said I would lose my credits if I cancelled my order. The AI in I500 Evolution is pretty damn good, there is no AI in GT5.

Yep, driving is great. Is it worth $60? I don't think so...not if you already have Forza 3. The only real pull is the "get more cash, buy another version of a car you already have" type of gameplay. It's a great simulator (NOT a good racer) and a good car compilation. But if that doesn't sound like $60 worth for you, then I'd definitely wait on it.

Have to hand it to Polyphony Digital - I can't think of another developer that has flat-out refused to acknowledge what other developers are doing in their genre. I know the whole "Gran Turismo is pure Gran Turismo" quote made me laugh, but damn it is true. PD clearly has a vision (deranged as that vision might seem) and has stuck with it for 13 years, refining it with each game.

Buncha crazy bastards.

Damage patch is out and you'll need FW 3.55 as well.

Ooooo, more waiting before I get to play!

Anyone seen the pics of the underside of that car in GT5?

http://kotaku.com/5708966/gran-tursimo- ... e=true&s=i

Could it be that the perfectionists at Polyphony were scanning die-cast car models for the non-premium cars....oh wait, they said that it's an 'Easter Egg'....and yet they're going to patch it out because it's 'embarassing'.

I'm confused.

Not only do the tires look like pop caps but there's no axle.

I can say this for a fact. I will not fall for the GT6 hype nor will I preorder it, i'll only get it after impressions and reviews. If GT6 is released in the same mess as GT5 or if it's basically the same old same old, then i'll pass.

Still enjoying this game immensely. The deeper into the game I get the more I am appreciating it. It's still feeling nothing like a grind to me, which is very good.

The HKS controller was not officially released until yesterday, so I ordered it from EBGames with overnight shipping last night. I'm hoping it will come tomorrow. I called around and everyone told me it is an online-only product.

I wasn't all that excited about the game when it came out but I literally have no played a single game other than GT5 since that time, so obviously they did something right.

Let us know how you like it. Just spent a good chunk on headphones and I do have a Logitech driving force wheel, which I have yet to set up. Curious if it's worth the investment.

The more licenses you uncover, the more levels you get to, the fonder the game gets for me.

But right now I am having a heck of a time getting the International 'C' license (I think that's what they call it) and the last stage where you have to finish at least on 7th place is giving me enough fits.

Thanks for the update 10 hours after your previous "stale" game comment. :)
