true. Although in fairness, CC cannot be judged by last year's playoff performance. It was only one game. And he was coming off being handled like the economy Hertz rental car fleet at JFK airport.

Congrats to the Pirates' ownership that has alienated an entire generation of fans with a 17th consecutive losing season. It's amazing to think that you would have to be in your late twenties to be old enough to remember a winning season. Thank God for the Pens and Steelers.

Yeah, it looks like you Pittsburgh fans will have to make do with only two parades this year.

Wainwright wins his 18th. Carpenter has 17 wins. Are they one, two in the Cy Young Voting?

Pujols smacks two homeruns today against the Brewers. Does he have the MVP race all but wrapped up?

What an unbelievable season by the Cardinals!!!

I hope the majority of you guys pick the Cubs again next year to win the NL Central.

Tremendous season and what a job the new GM (Mozeliak) has done this year.

I'm very excited for the playoffs!

The two fake umpires were in Oakland last night. I couldn't tell if they were the original ones from Toronto on a national tour or copycats from Oakland, but either way they made the Tribe/A's game almost watchable.

Well maybe a little hypocracy in some of what he said as players like him are part of the reason its been a century.

Yeah it was so far fetched to pick the Cubs to win what turned out to be an entirely weak division. Cubs were only coming off a 97 win season, that had a team that lead the league in runs scored and what appeared to be the elite pitching staff in the NL. The Cubs season has been a complete mess and there was no excuse for it. But the Cards are winning a division where only one other team is over .500.

I thought the same thing. What was Pujols thinking? The tying runner was at third and would have easily scored on the sac fly. Albert should have been a LOT more conservative on the base paths.

How so? Pick your bullshit stereotype, but it's hypocritical for critics to level both charges over the course of a year as they've done this year...again.

Either Cub fans are apathetic, mindless drunken drones who don't know anything about baseball or they're maniacal hypter-attentive and too demanding for today's sensitive baseball sociopath. I call bullshit on both counts.

There's a reason why Bradley has bounced around the league, because he's a dysfunctional, self-centered prick. When you get paid $10 million per year to play baseball, you better a) live up to your contract and b) have a thick skin when you don't. Otherwise find another line of work.

I have to tip my hat to the Cardinals. Terrific job making moves and managing the roster this year. I really thought the Cubs would repeat and that the Cards would need to retool this year.

Having said that, get bent in the playoffs, St. Louis. :P

I think the cards had every intent of making this a rebuilding year, but after a couple months in they looked around and saw 1) the Cubs spinning their wheels and 2) brewers just tanking it. Once Carpenter looked to 'be back', they had to take a shot. I love it...

I'm sure Wainwright and Smoltz had something to do with influencing Pujols to f'*** the Braves over. Congratulations to the Cardinals and heres to a third World Series appearance in six years. I've loved every minute of the Cubs demise and sticking it to the Flubs fans at work all year!!!

Since when former Jay C. Carpenter became a hitting machine?

Tension is way up there, but the Twins are still alive.

And a Rockies sweep in LA this weekend will give them the west title. Wouldn't that upset the apple cart?
Dodgers 93 wins
Phillies 92 wins
Cards and Rockies w/ 91 wins
Tighter than a gnats @$$hole for home field
advantage. Only thing for sure is the Dodgers and Rockies won't meet in the 1st round. Good stuff.

About time they fired Paul Ricciardi. Fat contracts was his undoing, the next GM must decide whether to rebuild or compete next year.

Tigers'collapse is complete, they fought hard at least tonight, but it's Twins and Yankees. Some outstanding D on both sides in the 9th and 12th inning. Nathan was awesome.
