Since you've already taken it apart, if it happens again, open up the DVD drive itself and superglue the little magnet thing back in place. I did that to mine and it's been flawless since. Google unplayable disc fix and you'll find some youtube videos.

I've already got a PS3...so I'm covered at least. LOL. At least it's still under warranty...coffin on the way. Yes, the #3 club is a mighty fine club to be a part of. Now it's gonna take FOREVER for the Show 08 to come out. Crap.

fedex still has mine. but no hurry, i dont miss it at all. maybe I will get lucky one day and call in sick to work and stay at home , then I may get my 360 back when the fedex guy comes at lunchtime.

I don't know that that is entirely true. It just has design flaws...and they really haven't even fixed those and here we are, 2 1/2 years after release. People's brand new machines are still crapping out. They just did a crappy job designing it. Quality control isn't the issue. Engineering is the issue.

fedex still has mine too, i hope my wife is staying home today and will be there to sign. I am starting to miss my 360.

ok so i got it back ... wtf it works! :) it has a benq drive and i believe i see the copper heat sink added. It runs warm but pretty much like normal and the noise level is about average, i sense no change. It has a date of 6/06 but it looks all new.

now the return to nhl 2k8 until i figure out what to do ... sell or keep.

picked it up today and it's working.

hopefully it works for the next few weeks.

also noticed I get a sliver memebership free for xbl. Does this mean I can still play online?

They gave me 1 month free of gold too.

Now time will tell if I keep it or sell.

I was thinking of a PS3 for the show but 2k8 has me very excited (dont they every year though) and i think it would be best on the 360. I'm also looking for the wireless adapter on the cheap. Some baseball and xbox live is better then PS3 to me for now.

they want me to send in the power brick now too...

f this...getting a ps3.

how is there not a class action lawsuit?

I don't know ANYONE who hasn't sent theirs back in....

I just received mine here at work (a launch day refurb 11/20/05)...I'm afraid to take it home and plug it in now. I'm about to just sell the thing on ebay and go buy an Arcade system and use all of my peripherals. That way at least I know I'm getting a new system w/ the latest design.

biggest thing that pisses me off is the poor customer service when you call in.

I'm on my second; I begrudgingly got it AFTER buying a PS3 - Just in time for the PS3 to really hit its stride - go figure.

I think this pretty much sums it up:

WOW, I need to edit above to 7,while typing this I realized my math was off..continue below LOL.......

Its just embarrassing that I continue to deal with a shitty console. Sure I have a PS3 now, but it took sending off another coffin and realizing Blu was going to win.

I want to share a little something else that keeps me from getting too upset with them and really shows their ignorance and how craptapcular MS is. Something I felt pretty guilty about at first BUT......

Several months ago (6 or so) I got a call from UPS saying I had a delivery coming that required my signature. I was not expecting anything so I plugged the tracking number in and it showed an 8lb box coming from McAllen TX and being shipped to my work. I thought no big deal, must mean my console is about to crap out and they are getting me prepared with a coffin (the coffin says 8lb when shipped to you empty). So the next day I went to work and there was a new console in it, manufactured 9-2007. I couldn't believe it, I debated what to do with it, I had a power supply from the launch console I tried to fix and later sold on ebay "as is" and I also had my component cables from my premium as I use VGA cables. A few weeks went by and I head nothing from, researched some more and saw they used the same reference number from a previous warranty repair of mine. So I decided to register it and chance it being banned or something like that. I thought if it was someone else's then surely I could register it. It let me!!!

So about a month or so ago, the freebie quit reading disks (it had a toshiba drive in it) I called up support and the sent me an 05 refurb (got rid of that serial # on the free on) but it too had a Toshiba drive that was faulty from the time I fired it up. This console I sent back with the power supply, but they sent the same console back with a new dvd drive and a new power supply.

So as you can read, I have two consoles, one of which didn't cost me a dime. I felt a little bad about keeping it, but after all the problems I have been through I just wrote it off as they owed me!! Yea, 7 consoles sucks, but I have had my "spare" for 2 of the returns LOL.

I truly love the console though, I love LIVE, I love the controller and I love the games!
