I cant get passed 57,000...I remember being alot better in th 80s..ahh the glory of aging...Leebo33 wrote:Man, I really screwed up today on Galaga. I had over 90k on my first fighter, but only ended up with 98k after all 5![]()
Besides a Steelers gamer pic, Galaga was my first Arcade purchase but since then I bought the PSU theme, pics, and Geometry Wars. Pac Man and Lumines are a given when they roll out.
I bought the Rams pic and the Michigan theme...
You know, I was surprised at my feelings for the Saint's Row Demo. I knew it would be a GTA clone and thought I'd be fine with it since I generally like GTA type gameplay, but I just must be sick of the genre. After the GTAs and Godfather and stuff, I was really hit with a strong feeling of 'same ole, same ole' that had me powering it down pretty quickly. I think I'd still play GTA-type games (open cities and structures, etc) but they'd at least need to approach the gameplay from another, non-street-crime, angle.
I want the Dead Rising demo. The game could be mindless fun, or mindless suckage.

Agree 100% about Saint's Row. The "mature urban" setting is getting very old, and just kinda wrong.webdanzer wrote:You know, I was surprised at my feelings for the Saint's Row Demo. Also agree about Dead Rising. It seems like easily be a disaster (State of Emergency, anyone?), but I'm still looking forward to it for some reason.
Also if you can connect with your pc through windows media center or media connect you can use any picture on your pc for a background picture on your dashboard.XXXIV wrote:The gamer picture is the avatar...The theme is the background for Live dashboard.grtwhtsk wrote: Guys, what do you get with the purchased themes? Are you able to then use that for your avatar on live?

While people like us will think it's a waste of bits... I bet the PR guy hit a homerun with how much money this stupid thing brings in for them.bdunn13 wrote:Anyone else download the Madden PPV trailer last night? Did anyone actualy enjoy it?
What a complete and total waste of bits. Someone in the PR department of EA needs to find a new career.
Did it show any good game footage, or just a bunch of kids talking smack? *Pop! Pop! POP POP POP!*
Nah, I am not talking about the actualy PPV footage, there was a TRAILER for the PPV. It was free yet the whole time I was waiting on a punchline.PRBoom wrote:While people like us will think it's a waste of bits... Yesterday it was suppose to be a cool new Audioslave video yet it was sort of a documentary on Audioslave and their video. Very little of the video was actualy song. What a ripoff.

They are posting somethign for 20+ days and you know dam well they aren't going to give us something good like a gamer card or theme, so they need to make this junk stretch out.
I downloaded the first item, since then I have ignored it.

Hmm, the Demo unfortunately doesn't help in my purchasing decision at all, as it is pretty much what I thought it would be. It's like you dropped a Grand Theft Auto protagonist into State of Emergency.kevinpars wrote:Dead Rising demo is up on Live.
I will check this out over the weekend. I hope it is a good representation of the game because it will effect my purchase or non-purchase on Tuesday. I will also look forward to what you all think.
Now, I know some of you are going to take that as more of a knock than I intended. While I don't think SoE was a 'good' game, really, I don't think it was as awful as many thought. It was mindless 'arcadish' violence in a chaotic setting, which is pretty much what I see here. DR has the added bit of 'zombie humor,' though, (Thowing a stack of cds at a zombie, one by one; smashing a pie in one's face and taking a picture; the Lego heads, etc)
I like that sort of mindless gameplay for pick up and play sessions on occasion, and I like what I've played in the demo. The main question I had before and I still have now, however, is whether or not that sort of shallow gameplay is worth my $60. Ultimately, the game still seems to be about seeing in what ways you can kill the zombies, and what sort of 'fooling around' you can do in an open environment.
Again, that's cool, but I have to figure out if it's worth $60.
I stopped home at lunch to see my daughter, and started the dead rising download while I was home so I'll give it a shot tonight.
I understand that the gameplay will for the most part be simplistic, I mean zombie movies aren't really known for their in-depth story lines, but what I'm interested in seeing is if it captures the feel of the good zombie movies; fighting the endless tide of zombies, close escapes, never knowing whats around the corner. If it turns out to be nothing than an excuse to flame broil a group of zombies from a safe distance over and over then I probably will pass.
I'll find out tonight!

That's interesting because the webisodes don't make it look humors at all. that guy getting a shot gun blast to the belly was kind of graphic.webdanzer wrote:There are some close escapes, Gurantsu, but it's definitely more down the humor than horror aisle. More Shaun of the dead than Dawn of the dead. The focus is definitely on creative ways to bash zombies.

True, but most of the gameplay seems humorous. EVen Shaun of the Dead had it's share of scary and very graphic scenes.Danimal wrote:That's interesting because the webisodes don't make it look humors at all. that guy getting a shot gun blast to the belly was kind of graphic.webdanzer wrote:There are some close escapes, Gurantsu, but it's definitely more down the humor than horror aisle. I thought the Saints Row demo was pretty darn impressive. Sure, it's a GTA knock off, but it's a heck of a lot more polished than any of the GTAs I've played in the past. Animations, graphics, and framerate were all equally well fine tuned. And this is only the demo. I probably most likely won't purchase it new, but I'll definitely rent it and maybe pick it up on the cheap.webdanzer wrote:You know, I was surprised at my feelings for the Saint's Row Demo. My wife generally hates games. When I show her the latest sports game on the 360 she is pretty blah about it and once when playing GTA she said: "Hey, why did you just hit that woman?" as though I had done it in RL.
But she walked by when i was playing the Dead Rising demo and immediately got into the spirit of things, telling me to "grab the shopping cart" and "try hitting them with that stuffed bear!" I think that this could turn out to be a fun game.

Didn't like Saint's Row. I found it to be a complete knock off of GTA (obviously) that didn't bring anything new to the table.
As I side note, this is one of the few games I actually find insulting/borderline racist and if you knew me, you'd know that sort of thing never bothers me.
GTA has a sense of satire and humour about it....This game just feels like an Amos and Andy version of GTA.
