Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Thought I'd just be able to drop in my old hard drive from my crapped out ps4 but turns out that doesn't work. No idea why not but it pisses me off as now I lost all of my saves and game installs. Holy crap this sucks.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Nope...hadn't set that up. And can't get anything to power on and I can't get the old hard drive to work in the new system...so couldn't even get it setup regardless. Just horrible timing.Aristo wrote:No cloud saves?dbdynsty25 wrote:Thought I'd just be able to drop in my old hard drive from my crapped out ps4 but turns out that doesn't work. This guy is annoying and the fix is stupid (essentially try to put a disc in) but did you try this to get the ps4 to turn on -

No dice Bakes...literally doesn't make a single move to suggest there is any power at all. It's toast. And on its way back to Amazon as I've already gotten the replacement. A+ service for sure.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Yeah I figured it wouldn't work but thought what the hell. At least Amazon is hooking you up with a speedy replacement. Typing this on my g pad by the way. Thanks again for the recommendation!

My review of Halo: Spartan Assault on the XBONE;

Unless you utterly adore Halo, don't bother - especially at $15.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Nice review Macca! Very well written.
After two weeks, I'm finally ready to send back my copy of NFS Rivals. Great arcade racing, and I'm excited about playing more of these style games on the PS4. That said, I don't generally play many multi player games, but this was a lot of fun, albeit not much depth.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I pretty much hate most point and boost racing games. I didn't care for Burnout, either. But plenty of folks liked the Burnout games, and the same guys are making games for the NFS franchise. But I gave up waiting for EA to do a NFS game as good as High Stakes, and its been close to 15 years.
Right now, Forza has come pretty close to becoming my favorite racer. I still miss PGR and its Kudos, but you can leave assists on and get that perfect blend of arcade and sim. I think a new Forza: Horizon will come out for the One eventually, and hopefully add in a lot of the PGR modes, and lose the open world stuff. But for now, Forza 5 is just fantastic, and it will be hard to enjoy games that don't rely on the same Drivatar technology that they have here.
Drivatars are not sim, although you can boost their difficulty to the point that you are racing Drivatars created by the best racers out there. The problem is that most of the time you won't see any of your friends in the race. By just selecting a a Drivatar difficulty just above average, I find a nice challenge to finish in the top 3, and still see 4 or 5 people from my friends list racing.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I like Forza but I have really no idea wtf is going on during events. are they just individual races or an ongoing series of 10 or so.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Think of it as a medal-gathering game. Each event has a medal. You're trying to get Gold.
It's not really a series with points or anything like that. Just a bunch of races you're attempting to get the gold medal on.

If there are any other scorned-upon idiots like me looking forward to playing some of the highly regarded indie games on their PS4s, they may want to note that "Don't Starve" is supposed to be released today, free with PSN+.

Whoa. Had no idea the PS4 would outsell em by 25% (slightly less due to the head start I suppose). Guess that explains why you still can't go into a retailer to get one...and there are Xbox Ones all over the place. 4.2 million to 3.0 million through 2013.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
All things being even, it's about 15.5% more PS4s sold than Xbone's once you even out the time advantage (17.5% more days on sale for PS4), unless my quick calculations are way off.
Still a pretty impressive difference, but not as shocking as it seems from the raw numbers for a unit that costs $100 less (20% cheaper than the Xbone).

Absolutely awesome. If it works. LOL. Streaming services from a company with an iffy online service seems a little, well, aggressive.sportdan30 wrote:Sony announces Playstation Now.........freaking sweet!!!!!

That's true....and aparently, it's not a free service. There's a few games I'd love to play again, but it all depends on the price. Still, this essentially solves backward compatibility.dbdynsty25 wrote:Absolutely awesome. If it works. LOL. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
No surprise here.....I fully expected this. $100 more expensive, lower power and Sony beat them to launch = lower sales. It will likely continue this way for some time as Sony has done a much better job with this launch than the PS3. And they ended up almost catching the 360 after being a year behind with their launch, so anything can happen.dbdynsty25 wrote:http://bgr.com/2014/01/07/playstation-4-sales-2013/

Heading out to trade in my 360, Kinect, accessories and games for an XBone. Really liking what I see on the Fitness front for XBone and will likely get a PS4 in the future for my man-cave. I've lost 42 pounds in the past 7 weeks and have 50 more to reach my goal and I am hoping the Fitness apps can help me get there sooner as well as tone and shape this 55 year old body.....

Also to be fair, hasn't the PS4 shipped in almost double the countries than that of the Xbox One?Zeppo wrote:All things being even, it's about 15.5% more PS4s sold than Xbone's once you even out the time advantage (17.5% more days on sale for PS4), unless my quick calculations are way off.

Congrats...and good work. And it certainly can't hurt...that's one of the main reasons why I kept my Xbox One...the fitness apps. They work great. Sure, it's more expensive than a gym membership up front, but having the option in your home is a great thing to have.DivotMaker wrote:Heading out to trade in my 360, Kinect, accessories and games for an XBone. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I am sure that they'll charge for that. Question is will it be a subscription service as part of PS+ or will gamers have to buy the game again. I would be all over 'The Last of Us' again which us supposed to have a DL content.sportdan30 wrote:That's true....and aparently, it's not a free service. Regarding speed, my guess is that it doesn't necessarily require an extremely fast internet connection, but it does require one with very low latency, so that the time between you pressing a button, and the time you see the reaction, is as short as possible.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Hoping that the PS4 comes out with some fitness apps in the not too distant future. The PS4 camera is excellent, so I can't see why they wouldn't be able to develop some kind of fitness game.dbdynsty25 wrote:Congrats...and good work. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Thanks for the kind comments. I'm tired of fighting the yo-yo with my weight. I'm on a really good program and I hope to finally end my struggles with weight. If the PS4 had these apps, that is the system I would be getting due to it's better specs, etc. if they did have these apps I would still have to fork over $500 for the PS4 and camera. No worries though as I'll end up with both at some point.dbdynsty25 wrote:Congrats...and good work.
