Seriously? I have always had great success with them. I seem to get a MUCh stronger/further signal than with any other brand. Albeit it's been few years since I've used anything else. Any suggestions? Especially since I have mostly all Apple devices?

Huge fan of Asus equipment these days. My router: http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC66U-Dual-Ban ... B008ABOJKS

Then if you need to extend, they allow for that too. Cloud services, remote access...all available on their higher end routers. Fantastic products that are very highly rated.

It's probably not your issue, so don't go out and spend another 300-400 bucks upgrading your network, but in the future, replace the Apple stuff when it's run it's course.

I purchased an ASUS router about a month ago as our netgear kept disconnecting our phones.. couldn't be happier!!!

It was a cheap one too from newegg. Haven't had any issues since replacing it.

DOWN GOES FRAZIER. PS4...out of commission. Just will not power up at all anymore. Dead as a door nail. Sweet. Thankfully I got it through Amazon and their extended return window for the holidays and they'll cross ship me a replacement that'll be here by Friday. Love their service.

I did the advanced replacement option via Xbox and the replacement will be here Thursday. Not a bad way to swap things out.

I've been having some really weird issues with mine for a few weeks now that make me think trouble is ahead. I also got it through Amazon, how does this return window work?

That sucks, DB. I haven't had a problem at all running my PS4 yet (knocks on the wood of my desk), but every once in a while I hear the drive sort of "click" as it tries to read a disc. Usually when it tries to boot a game, so maybe it's just PS-weirdness.

Mine sounds like a hair dryer when it starts up, but then it's whisper quiet. I got the three year Squaretrade warranty for around $40, so I have peace of mind.

Downloaded Powerstar Golf last night and I'll echo what has been said in here many times - great game! Even though there is no true online multiplayer I really like how they integrated friends into the game (all the records and being able to play against a friends best round). I'm bakes716 on live if anyone wants to add me.

All four friends (their wives excluded) I had over last night for New Year's Eve are now considering picking up a next gen system after playing some NFS and NBA 2K14. I briefed them on both the Xbox One and PS4, and surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly none of them had any interest in the voice control. They simply want to play games.

I'd venture to guess that MS will put out a discounted Kinectless system by the end of the 2014.

It's funny you mentioned this.. I have an XB1 and we had our friends over and instead of playing games, people were more fascinated by the voice commands and skype. I'm saying, hey let me show you what NBA 2k14 looks like or FIFA 14 and they were using the voice commands to change channels, turning the volume up and down, etc.. I will say Just Dance 2014 was the hit for the kids... I'm too old for that game... lol.. our kids just love the kinect and always have. (it's MUCH better now, too)

I think the voice control is something you have to actually use in person... not that it's a huge deal to us gamers, but just the fact you can do some neat things with your voice made our friends say.. wow.. I had no idea how cool this would be. Our Direct TV controller is missing all the time, usually under a blanket or couch cushion, so it's nice to say "xbox turn off" while I'm half asleep. :)

I apologize if my last post came out harsh regarding the voice features of the X1. It wasn't meant that way. I personally am attracted to the X1 for the multi-media, voice commands, and exclusive titles. Unfortunately, there's not enough titles that interest me at this moment to own both.

With that said, I think because of the noise level last night (there were 8 kids under 12 running around) that the voice command wouldn't have worked well. It would have been more of a distraction. If it was a little quieter atmosphere, I'm sure they would have been quite intrigued. Then again, I don't have the X1, so I couldn't show them anyways. Still, these were guys who hadn't played or really seen many video games from the PS3 and 360 era. So, their mouths dropped when they saw how beautiful NBA 2K14 was.

I agree the voice commands need to be used in person before writing them off. MS would do themselves a big service if they had stores like BB with the X1 in an enclosed room so people could test out the Kinect voice features.

I didn't take you post that way at all Dan. I was close to getting a ps4 and then my buddy got his XB1 and showed me the voice/TV stuff and games like FIFA 14 and I immediately bought in.

I just don't think people understand what the voice command stuff is all about unless you are like us DSP'ers.

I was pressed for time today to drive to the gym, so I tried Xbox Fitness for the first time. Was very impressed. Did a 10 minute cardio and it was very thorough. The only issue was that I could use a little more space - at times I ended up a too close to Kinect and getting lost by the sensor.

Do you remember if you use to put the system in standby nightly or turned it off?

Mine so far is fine fingers crossed , but I noticed one night when I was using both USB's in front to charge, the disc made a weird squeky noise when loading, but then was quiet and ran fine.

I put mine in standby all the time without issue. I really don't think that is an issue with console failure. The bottom line is all these machines are being pressed and built somewhere and quality control is what it is. I don't think either the PS4 or XB1 are outside the normal failure rate at this point. These gaming "news" sites are just looking for anything to get eyes on their pages. All electronics can just break down for no apparent reason. I had a range extender I bought 2 months ago and yesterday it just decided to stop powering on and I can't count the number of DTV receiverds I have gone through.

Regarding Dan's post: I wouldn't describe the kinect as just a voice sensor. It certainly does that and thanks to NO launch titles(lame), that's all it is right now. Much like the workout stuff, I really look forward to the 2.0 version kinect for motion sensing games. The fact I can turn it off with my voice is just a bonus.

I turn my console off. In fact I hadn't played it for a week when I was out of town. So unless there was a freak power surge or something (to which it's protected of course) then it just s*** the bed. Happens to all electronics. Rough week for me as I lost an iPad mini as well. Assholes charged me 100 to replace it too.

The one odd issue I'm having with my PS4 is it is tripping my GFCI outlet when I boot it up. My family room is in our finished basement, and all of the outlets are on one circuit. I have plenty of things plugged in -- two computers, modem, TV, 360, PS3 -- and have never had any issues. I added my PS4 and it tripped the circuit the first time I powered it on. I unplugged a few things and then it was fine, but it did it again yesterday and wouldn't work until I turned off the power to one of the PCs on another outlet. Does the PS4 use that much more power than a PS3?

Both the XB1 and PS4 use approximately 3 times as much power as the old versions. Soooo yes.

Ha, yes, I did some Googling and saw that. I may start leaving it in standby mode as I don't have any issues once it starts, just when I have to do a full power up.
