Such a great place to watch hockey in Winnipeg. Despite being swept, no one left the barn, not a single soul. All thanking their Jets for making the playoffs. Every time they got close, the tandem duo of Silfverberg and Kesler just killed their momentum. With this team, the white out won't have to wait another 19 years.

In the beginning, I thought that goaltending was their weakest point, but F. Andersen was amazing.

Ducks look strong.

Goddamn it was sweet seeing the Blues look like themselves again. And I mean that literally.

Steen-Backes-Oshie
Schwartz-Lehtera-Tarasenko
Jaskin-Stastny-Berglund
Porter-Ott-Reaves

Those are the lines that won them the Central Division.

Schwartz-Stastny-Oshie
Steen-Lehtera-Tarasenko
Jaskin-Backes-Berglund
Goc-Ott-Reaves

It probably should not have taken three cruddy games to get the lines that they won with all season back, but here we are. But right now, Blues fans can feel pretty damn good about Friday night. If the Blues had won tonight, but still only scored 2 goals, I'd still be worried. But this feels like the team that tied Anaheim for the most points in the West.

Tarasenko and Etem's goals were a joy to watch. One thing for the Blues' player who had a similar goal during the regular season is that he's a pure talent. To do such moves during the playoffs takes confidence, guts and something he's got plenty of: skills.

Yeah, I saw guys picking the Jets to win it in a lot of places and I wondered if they'd seen the Ducks play. They don't fold when the game looks hopeless (see games 1-3). They are a playoff-tested bunch. I didn't see a sweep coming, and I was a little worried after that game 3 chant from the crowd to show support to the Jets. I have to say, that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in sports. The show of support the hometown fans have for their team is amazing.

I was almost sad to see game 4 play out like it did, but that team will be back. I'm not sure how far the Ducks can actually go unless they learn how to play strong in the second period consistently, and don't start so slowly. They rely on 3rd period heroics far too often.

I agree.. the real lines are back! Although I still think I'd find a way to get Bourtuzzo in there.

Regardless, the Blues finally showed up! Hope that carries over Friday!

Looks like they could face the Flames who can put my team out of their misery tonight. Talk about a team that never gives up. They are the 3rd period specialists.

The extra days should help ANA heal some wounds, that was a physical series. And should VAN do the impossible and come back in 7, although they managed to do rather well with the Ducks in the regular season, they don't have a chance.

Even though it would be fun to see Kesler being welcomed back with love. 8)

Good point. I guess games that drop the puck at 10 Eastern aren't big draws for the rest of the country.

When I tell some of the puck heads in the East to watch out for the next Toews-Kane duo AKA known as Gaudreau-Monahan, they asked what, who? :) How about Sam Bennett, 18 years old and thrown into the fire. Flames have a good future.

We are spoiled, we can watch all the games.

I whiffed hardcore on the Winnipeg series. I typically do much better picking the East than the West, and in hindsight I don't entirely regret the pick. I don't see the Western games very much, and on paper the Jets should've won.

You look at Anaheim you see a top heavy offense overly relying on Perry and Getzlaf. You see an inexperienced goal tandem. You see a head coach with a terrible playoff record. You see a team that was 19th in shot differential in close situations (only Ottawa and Calgary was worse among playoff teams). You see a team that was only +10 in goal differential, worst among all playoff teams.

You see them matchup with Winnipeg like this;
Image

All they really had going for them was a preposterous record of 33-1-7 in 1 goal games (nhl.com has stats on this category going back to 1998, and this is by far the best record any team has ever had), and the best record in the NHL when trailing after 2. I didn't think that would translate to postseason success.

The stats didn't show that Winnipeg wasn't ready for primetime, as this was the first time in NHL history a team won the first 3 games of the series when trailing after 2 in all of them.

Oh well. :?

That's the biggest thing that is missed when you don't get to see them play live. It's not really accidental. They just have brass balls and no fear. I've never watched a team in any sport where the final quarter/period comes into play, and they could be losing by a goal (or two) or a TD (or two) and I think "they've got this". It's bizarre.

I'm not ready to crown them or anything crazy, but whoever knocks them out of the playoffs will have done a hell of a job matching that third period intensity. And Andersen would have to come out of whatever zone he found himself in in that series. I guess that's the story with the Ducks--whether it's Jiggy or Hiller or whoever they put in net, they give them their Wheaties when it comes to the playoffs.

Entertaining club. Too bad they're on the West Coast and hidden from the world.

In truth when the Ducks moved Goldberg from goalie to defense in 1996 I stopped caring about them.

Felt like that breakneck 1st period just took their legs out from under them. They didn't have a single good zone entry in the second period and the third...well. Awful effort overall. Not worried in the least, but it would've been nice to get a breather. The cumulative effect of deep playoff runs on these guys is brutal and they could use it.

It was an awful effort and honestly that is my concern going forward. They just get really lazy on D sometimes and things like last night happen.

Price is wrong so far tonight with that first softy. Completely changed game.

Having said that. Sens impressive.

Karlsson is every where.

I have been unimpressed by the Habs offense all year as they are the lowest scoring play off team. The questions were/ are there. What happens when Price isnt perfect? What happens when the other teams goalie is playing great?
Seeing the answers last period last game and first period this game.

Poorly coached team.
