The VAN-CHI rivalry may have taken a temporary backseat to the nasty VAN-BOS war but when these two top western teams face each other, it's hockey at its best as proved again tonight at Rogers arena as Canucks eked a thriller in OT. Both Crawford and Schneider were superb in keeping the game tight, a lot of good chances were just robbed by the stars of the night, in fact the Hawks were more determined in the second period and had clear chances in the third only to be stopped by Corey.

Good fast paced game, only 3 penalties were called as the refs seemed to enjoy this one too.

Another thriller at Rogers arena as the Wings beat the 'Nucks in a SO, a game VAN were lucky to get a point as the best team in the league just outplayed them overall. For the first 40 minutes, Canucks were just sent to school as all four DET lines were clicking in all cylinders. Thanks to Luongo the score was only 2-1 when the 3rd period started when coach AV decided to split the Twins, something he hasn't done in ages but it seemed to spark the team as they managed to go into OT tied 3-3.

The way the Wings are playing, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll win the presidents' trophy this year. They are playing by far in the toughest division in the league, they lead the hard western conference and have 4 lines that have a lot of speed and just keep coming at you.

Jimmy Howard is solid in net, they'll be serious contenders for the cup.

What a game by Sam Gagner tying Gretzky and Coffey with 8 points in a single game. Just unheard of these days.

It's a good night when you tie one of The Great One's club records.

Pretty cool video. We need linesmen cams in the NHL!

That's mega! NBC should push the NHL to allow that camera to be used during its national broadcasts. That could be the in-car camera of hockey.

That's a really cool perspective. I would like to see those in the NHL as well. I like the fact that you can hear the chatter on the ice as well. Would be fun to have those angles on replays, giving the producers time to edit out any bad language.

The way Henrik Sedin blocked a slap shot last night and limped off the ice, there was no way that he could have come back into the game. Not only did he do that but he also managed to set up an assist when he came back. Usually, while you wear skates, people would ask you to suck it up if you're hit with a puck, but obviously once the game was over the current Canucks iron man could hardly walk on his own. X rays and CT scan are underway, I am not keeping my hopes up. Still, the team managed to beat the hot Preds who under coach Trotz continue to overachieve. VAN is still not playing to the level I know they can play but the tandem duo of Luongo and Schneider have been the difference between a win and a loss.

Chris Pronger stopped by the Flyers workout today and evidently things aren't any better. He's still having fairly severe symptoms from the concussion. Supposedly he still has numerous bad days. Definitely feel for the guy.

Sam Gagner with 2 more goals tonight. That's something like 8 goals in his last 3 games. Guy is looking unstoppable.

I am sure Leafs nation is pumped up for the winter classic next year where they'll face the mighty Wings. More than 100.000 fans are expected to attend this original 6 match up.

The name Rick Nash is pretty much synonymous with he CBJ. Their franchise player. With all the money they wasted this season and still sitting at the bottom of the western conference, Nash is available for the right team if the right package comes to COL. The trading deadline got a lot more interesting according to B. Mckenzie.

Columbus is a disaster. They are looking to trade Carter, and are willing trade Nash.

Also looks like Burke really wants a big forward, whether it be Nash, Carter or JVR.

No surprise, considering Scott Howson is the Columbus GM. He trained under Kevin Lowe in the Edmonton front office, which is really all you need to know. Lowe is one of the most inept examples of teams keeping retired legends in the front office and trusting them to make smart business decisions based on brains, not emotion.

The VERY first move Daryl Katz should have made after buying the Oilers was handing a large, pink sheet of paper to Lowe.

As much a failure as he may be in the front office....I thought Kevin Lowe was a damn good player. Tough as nails and skilled defender to boot.

To think back to all the 3 on 2s and 2 on 1s he had to handle. Damn good soldier.

Lowe was a great player who became a lousy GM and team president.

Thats what she said! :D

We could start a list of those types in all sports no? My first thought is Michael Jordan with Washington .

I just thought about those Oiler teams.

I am with you here and unfortunately before they get rid of him in the office, they'll probably sack T. Renney first at the end of the season.

As a 'Nucks fan, I had my fair share of memories courtesy of #99, Lowe, Mess, Anderson, Kurri and Coffeey. I am OK with where they are today. 8)

I have fond memories of having stuff thrown at my father and I as a 13 yr old kid back in the old Chicago stadium as my father stood and cheered an Oiler goal. It was Gretzky's and the Olilers first NHL year. Was pretty cool to see what was to come.

Edmonton was my fathers first residence in the new world.... He is and always was a crazy man. I like him better now that he lives in Crete. 8)

M. Ribeiro made this goal look easy while trying to control the puck with his stick behind his back before ripping the winner. Incredible.

Kubina should add some muscle to the Flyers' D, but I still think their goaltending department is more in need.

Leafs nation continue to suck whenever they play the Canucks although for whatever reason in me, I am hoping that they can make it to the playoffs this year.
