Also good news about Hubert's. Hubert's is a big part of Twins baseball and it'll be nice that it will still be around.
EDIT: Just watched a video of the stadium on YouTube. That stone overhang in right field is cool! I can see that leading to more than 1 inside the park hr this season when a right fielder mis-plays it and the ball bounces off of it and lands 80 feet away. Wood back seats in some sections of the stadium? Sweet! I take back my previously negative comments about Target Field now.

PS...I got season tickets. PM me if you want to catch a game.
Jack, I'm definitely up for making the drive from Bismarck to catch a game. In fact, we usually make one or two trips to the Cities each year. Would be awesome to meet you JD.
ball physics have improved as well(not that they were bad before). I smoked a liner 3/4 down the 1st base line and the ball hit the cut of the grass and dirt on the inside of the line and the ball went of on an angle just fair for a double. The ricchocet was decidely noticeable.
B.J. Upton cranked one down the 3rd base line and was giving it that lean to the right hoping it would stay fair, and it went foul at the last second. Good stuff.

My girlfriend is @ work until 5pm, and then when she gets home I think I am going to go pick this game up. One concern I have is that I have been reading online that the AI batters have too good of an eye. I read one guy saying that they almost NEVER swing at anything out of the strike zone. Is this accurate? If you are forced to throw a strike every pitch that would really bug me. Do the batters really lay off of every ball you throw? I read a guy at Gamespot claim that even a curve ball that starts off a strike and just misses by inches is nearly always laid off on. Is this true or internet bs?

No , that is bogus info. I know that was a problem in the 08 version but I have been getting CPU hitters looking and chasing.

I don't know if it's too early for baseball for me or if the limited game time I have with an infant in the house makes me want to avoid a game that takes at least an hour to finish. I've also noticed over the past couple of years that my interest in new baseball games wanes after a short amount of time. I think I'll Gamefly this one and just send it back when I lose interest in it. Thanks for the impressions though, it does make it harder to stick to this plan.
Well, since I have the willpower of a newt I ended up buying this today when I traded Madden in for $40 towards Madden 11. I had zero intention of picking it up but after seeing it on the shelf I suddenly heard myself say "I'll take The Show as well." when asked "Will that be all for you?"
Can't wait to try it.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.
The CPU batters will indeed chase bad pitches, but generally moreso when they have two strikes on them. I don't see them swing wildly on strike one and two. It's also possible to fool them and they will take a strike or a third strike, but it does not happen often. I get most of my strikeouts swinging.

Same here.
Yeah... Ive only played a few innings of a few different games and have struck em out both ways.
and speaking of DSPers getting together... Lets get that often talked about but never anything done about convention going...Chicago would be perfect! Though I would go to Vegas.
EDIT. Well not so much talked about. Its an early weekend for me

I can top that. I went to Gamestop yesterday to trade in Tekken 6 and NBA Live 10 towards The Show. I decided to also buy 2K10 for the 360 and I almost left with 2K10 for the PC. So that would have been three Baseball games.
It was my shear willpower that decided on only The Show and 2K10 for the 360.

As is Sportsman's Park! Wow, is it ever sweet looking.
Unfortunately, they didn't give Forbes Field as much attention as the other classic parks, and it was the one I was most looking forward to. It's really my only disappointment in an otherwise stellar game.

The country thanks Scoop and you by trying to get us out this recession singlehandedly.

Ditto. Last night in one game I got Figgins to K without him ever taking a swing. I also got a couple of hitters missing on pitches out of the zone.
Finally had the time and beer so I played a nine inning game on allstar. Lost a heart breaker with the Sox to the Cubs at Wrigley 7-6.
My highlight was a Kotsay 2 out 8 pitch pinch hit 3 run double off of Zambrano in the 6th whic at the time gave me a 6-3 lead...Then the catch up ai took over ...The lowlight was blowing a 4-6-3 double play that would have preserved a 6-5 lead in the 8th.
I did get three of the seven guys I K'd to strike out looking. You get a trophy for doing it on all star so maybe it is hard to do??? Didnt seem to be though. They really do have the picher batter battle down.
Beautiful game. Fun game.
At this point I can see attempting a season and playing this game well into the summer.

Got my first win last night! Forgive me, but I was excited!!!
After giving up 22 runs in my first two games, Jake Westbrook comes out of nowhere and almost shuts out the White Sox 8-1.
I think the pitching (control-wise) really is tougher this year, which is a good thing. As well as Westbrook pitched last night he still walked three and hit a guy.
It was cool, the guy he hit started waving his bat at Westbrook, I thought he was going to charge the mound, he seemed a little over upset, but then the announcer said it was the third game in a row he got beaned! It's cool the way they refer to stuff that happened in previous games like that.

The Polo Grounds are pretty great. I imagine I'll play a ton of my Mets home games there. Such bizarre geometry though... Jorge Cantu went deep three times in my first game on what would have been fly balls to right field in most places, but Daniel Murphy got us back in it with a line drive that just snuck inside the foul pole on the same side. Franceour got one over the left fielder's head that rattled around in that insane alley for a stand-up triple.
Still lost 8-7, but it was a great back and forth game. I think someone at SCEA hates Johan Santana though... I had trouble pitching with him last year, and it seems to be repeating itself now.
