I prefer Colonel Kilgore's version
SMELLS LIKE VICTORY !
SMELLS LIKE VICTORY !
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."
Pretty ludicrous if he gets suspended for one game let alone a few weeks for what amounts to much ado about pretty much nothing. Ooh - celebrating in front of the opposing fans - someone should hand them a hankie if they're that put out.Feanor wrote:I'd be amazed if Adebayor isn't suspended for a few weeks, but he may be able to appeal and get the start of the ban delayed until after the Manchester derby.davet010 wrote:Horses for courses...will be 4-2-3-1 next week

Richards
Toure
Lescott

deJong
Barry
SWP

Bellamy
Adebayor
Honestly, considering what the fans should out at the players and opposing teams I'd think the occasional middle finger from the players wouldn't be entirely unwarranted.
Best wishes,
Doug

He also put his boot into van Persie's face.dougb wrote:Pretty ludicrous if he gets suspended for one game let alone a few weeks for what amounts to much ado about pretty much nothing. Ooh - celebrating in front of the opposing fans - someone should hand them a hankie if they're that put out.

"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious stamp on me,'' said Van Persie. "He set out to hurt me and I feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from my eye.
"I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful.''
Question for those out there with direct tv. Is Sentanta worth it? I don't know how many of you out there have it, but I'm thinking of getting it but I don't know if I should spend the money just to get a couple more games a week of soccer. I'm not sure how the champion league is broken up, don't FSC have all the games?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would take it over fsc and that goddamn constant phone dial any day of the week, fsc is un watchable for me anymore.

Unlike, say, The Dutch (Accused) Rapist running over to the City fans and shouting 'f*** off' at them as loud as he could ?Jimmydeicide wrote:He did run the whole length of the pitch to give them the finger.

Any excuse for a riot eh.
Class on and off the field.

It's definitely a poor value, but it's worth it to me and it's nice to know that you're basically never going to miss a big match. If you have even the slightest interest in rugby it'd be a no-brainer.JRod wrote:Question for those out there with direct tv. Is Sentanta worth it? City fans really aren't in any position to talk about classy footballers when you have Bellamy, (Accused) Rapist Robinho and now Adebayor on the team.davet010 wrote:Unlike, say, The Dutch (Accused) Rapist running over to the City fans and shouting 'f*** off' at them as loud as he could ?Jimmydeicide wrote:He did run the whole length of the pitch to give them the finger.

Kicking a guy in the face when he's down is about as vile as it gets on the field.

Oh, but we are. I guess we could only expect hysterical hypocrisy from Arsenal, after all they have specialised in it for years, from Arsene 'I didn't see Vieira's two footed challenge 2 yards away' Wenger on down.Feanor wrote:City fans really aren't in any position to talk about classy footballers when you have Bellamy, (Accused) Rapist Robinho and now Adebayor on the team.davet010 wrote:Unlike, say, The Dutch (Accused) Rapist running over to the City fans and shouting 'f*** off' at them as loud as he could ?Jimmydeicide wrote:He did run the whole length of the pitch to give them the finger.

Newsflash! Just about every sports team in the world has sociopathic a-holes on its roster and every team's fan base concocts elaborate rationalizations about why the behavior of their guys is excusable, or at least less heinous than those of a rival team's players. At the same time they condemn the rival fans for excusing the behavior.
It's just one of the less seemly aspects of sports tribalism.

So is this directed at Arsenal or City? The Premier League have introduced a home-grown player rule which will come into effect from next season, alongside a limit on squad sizes.
From the 2010/11 campaign, the 20 Premier League clubs have voted to introduce measures which will see all teams required to have eight home-grown players out of a squad of 25.
Chief executive Richard Scudamore confirmed the changes, with clubs only able to make alterations to their squads during the two transfer windows.
"As of next season clubs will be required to have a squad named of up to 25 players, of which no more than 17 can be over the age of 21 and not home grown," Scudamore said.
Liverpool and Chelsea because they both have the minimum. Actually, it doesn't hurt chelsea one bit, they'll be safe because that's all who they'll have left after the sanctions are lifted.miget33 wrote:So is this directed at Arsenal or City? The Premier League have introduced a home-grown player rule which will come into effect from next season, alongside a limit on squad sizes.

Man U are probably in the strongest positions. And Man City, have a few youngsters who'll provide enough cover so they can contintue to have buy players and still be safe.

So, that would be the Robinho who the Police did not charge because the allegation was completely false, would it ? The Adebayor who was the subject of a two-footed challenge from behind, and then had bananas thrown at him by Arsenal fans ?Feanor wrote:You are if you ignore the fact that you have Bellamy, Robinho and Adebayor on your team, but City fans do seem very good at ignoring things as obvious as a studded boot to the face of a defenseless player.
Would you like to give me any other examples of things that City fans have ignored, or does your reading of ESPN not give you that information ?
As for the 8 of 25 rule, I'm not sure what counts as home-grown. City won't have a problem with that...but it smacks of that berk Scudamore attempting to demonstrate to the Gallic Gonk that they are at least cocking half an ear to his moronic pronouncements.

So if you're the subject of a two footed tackle it's OK to kick a guy in the face. If you play for Man City.
City fans haven't ignored the fact that bananas were among the food items thrown at Adebayor after he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of them. I've seen it talked about in numerous places.

DTV's Champions Legue mix channel is freaking sweet! But it does raise a question. If they can give me 7 simultaneous CL games in HD on 7 channels, why the hell does it still look like they're broadcasting Setanta and FSC from a Slovenian cable station c. 1987?JRod wrote:Hopefully we'll see some good games today.
Marsielle v Milan might be good. And there's Chelsea v Porto.

There needs to be a Soccer "GoalZone" like the Sunday ticket's red zone package. That would be sweet!RobVarak wrote:DTV's Champions Legue mix channel is freaking sweet! But it does raise a question. No, but you are treating like with like, rather than kow-towing to the so-called 'Big 4' as usual. Interestingly enough, Premier League boss Richard Scudamore has already mouthed off about it....interesting because if he's actually on the panel, then he's already prejudiced his decision.Feanor wrote:So if you're the subject of a two footed tackle it's OK to kick a guy in the face. And who does this worthy individual support ? Oh that's right...Arsenal.
As far as I am concerned, now's the team for City to really get into siege mode and go to town. And maybe a time for Wenger to reflect that when you spend all your time on the high horse, it's gonna hurt even more when you fall off...not that Arsene will see it, of course, as he'll be 'unsighted'.
