Well, I think I'm going to wait to see if 2K can do anything to tighten up the graphics a bit on the PS3. While I love the game play, 2K boasted about the graphics being significantly updated. It obviously wasn't the case on one of the consoles. Maybe I'll look at Live '09.

Wait, let me get this straight...so you will play an CLEARLY inferior hoops game (has been since 2003) just because the graphics aren't as good? WHORE!

I've played both demos and the graphics on the 360 version are slightly better but not by much. The PS3 version has just a wee bit more jaggies. You shouldn't let that hold you back from buying 2K9. My biggest beef with 2K9 is the idiotic menu interface.

Live 09 should be good but 2K9 will be the more realistic game again.

Well, I'll wait to hear some PS3 reviews. If I don't purchase it on release day, I'm definitely going to rent it. I have read some frame rate issues with the 360 version, but how that really affects game play I'm not sure.

Is the Playstation Store down for everyone?

I get an error code if I try to log in on my PS3, and a "Site Server Down for Maintenance" when on my computer. It's been this way since Tuesday.

Please advise as I'm anxious to get SOCOM.

Thanks!

According to the PSBlog, it's down.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/

If only Sony could get its online sh*t together, the PS3 would be a superb machine. So much quieter and more reliable than my 360; I just have a fondness for it that isn't there on the XBox. BUT, the online play is crap and Home doesn't appear to be coming soon. MS is only going to pull further ahead with the New XBL Experience.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was down because of all of the problems with the SOCOM server stability. I still haven't decided if I'm keeping it or not.

FYI- Wipeout HD has just released a patch that makes the game A LOT easier...meaning that it's a far better experience when compared the insane difficulty of the first version. I played for a while last night and immediately noticed the difference.

I've been using my PS3 more for games now that my beloved 360 is no longer with me and while not playing MGS4 I was looking at the Japanese PSN store tonight and I was amazed at just how many bloody PSOne games Japanese gamers have access too!!!!

It's absolutely insane compared to the US PSN store that has very little. I think this is just another example of Sony not know what the f*** they're doing with their service.

I can't believe PSOne classics like FFVII, Metal Gear Solid haven't been put on the service. They could even tailor their releases to coincide with PS3 releases - i.e. when Resident Evil 5 comes out they could put out RE1 (out in Japan), RE2 and RE3.

I'm also surprised they haven't put PS2 games up there either (XBL has with original Xbox games).

Then again Sony are too busy with Home.....idiots.

Maybe the installed base of PS3s in Japan have a higher percentage with backwards compatibility than the PS3s in the US.

PS1 games downloaded from PSN can only be played on the PS3, right?

They can't be played on PS2 or PS1?

"Just in case you aren't content with the video delivery service offered by the PlayStation Network, Sony has announced plans to introduce a third party video provider onto the PS3 XMB. Starting November 23, VUDU will join a growing list of video apps available on the console, including Netflix, Hulu Plus and NHL GameCenter.

For those unfamiliar with the service, VUDU offers "more than 4,000 HD movies," which VUDU claims makes it the "world's largest HD library." The subscription-free service gives members access to on-demand rentals and purchases, in SD or the costlier "HDX" format -- 1080p HD with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. Prices are comparable to PSN's native video store, but thrifty PS3 owners will want to comparison shop. For example, VUDU's "$2 for 2 nights" rental specials generally undercut Sony's offerings, whereas PSN's "Deal of the Week" specials usually best VUDU's prices.

To encourage newcomers to try out the service, VUDU is offering a free $5.99 credit to new registrants, "enabling them to watch their first HD movie on the service for free." It's certainly an enticing offer, one that will encourage PS3 owners to make the switch. But remember to stop by PlayStation's video service once in a while, as well. After all, you can't get new episodes of The Tester anywhere else."

I'm definitely interested in DS2 although i'll wait for it to drop below $15 like the last one did within 6 months. The first one was a damn good game. :)

Mass Effect 2 has a demo as well. Having never played this series and with my plans to pick it up on day 1, I was anticipating downloading this one all day. As soon as I got into the store though, I thought that maybe the demo would give a bit away about the story/characters etc...so I decided to hold off. The PS3 version will come with an interactive comic so that gamers can catch up with ME1. Can't wait to immerse myself.

Saw this over at OS:

"The MotoGP 10/11 demo for the PS3 arrives today.

"Get your hands on the most realistic MotoGP gaming experience of the series so far with a demo for MotoGP 10/11. Releasing today on PlayStation Network in North America, players will be have the chance to experience two modes on one of the 18 circuits taken from the final game. Race in a single Championship or against the clock (and your ghost) in Time Trial on the challenging Mugello circuit near Florence Italy. As in the full game, players will be able to use the new player assists feature that allows them to fully customise their bike set up, making the MotoGP gaming experience as authentic as players can handle.
