i am majorly disapointed but they will be wearing their originals as their 3rd jersey for 15 home games. Somebody over on the Sabres forums mentioned that they will also wear the throwbacks for playoff games. I don't understand how these new jersey's even got approval from the marketing department or why the owner would do this when he knows the fans want the orginal jerseys back....doesn't make a bit of sense. I have a feeling that this will be just like when the Islanders changed their logo several years ago and the fans were very upset. It didn't take long for management to realize they made a mistake and go back to the original logo. At least I hope this is what happens. There is also the rumor that the NHL has signed a deal with Reebok for the uniforms starting next year and we are going to get that sleeker look like we see in the olympics. Reebok told the NHL that several teams will have to have changes to their logo's in order to get them to fit on the new style jerseys. For example the Blackhawks may have a smaller logo starting next year. I hate marketing people especially when they mess with history and tradition at the expense of dollar signs.Naples39 wrote:You know I love the direction the Sabres were going in reverting to gold and blue (the black and reds were way too trendy and never seemed right), but something went horribly wrong with those new jerseys. Pretty awful.

I don't know ANYONE who likes them. This new look could hit the dustbin of NHL team marketing history pretty quickly, much like the one season the Islanders wore the logo with the "Gorton's Fisherman" before returning to their classic crest.Naples39 wrote:You know I love the direction the Sabres were going in reverting to gold and blue (the black and reds were way too trendy and never seemed right), but something went horribly wrong with those new jerseys. Winner on the first try! Well done, James!10spro wrote:I think it's spelled Tahir. One of the guys I loved to hate, so he played his role very well. His biggest fight that I can remember was his rivalry with B. Probert, a classic. He joins TSN as an analyst now.pk500 wrote:Trivia question for the day: What is Domi's real first name?

Domi had his shared of cheapshots, and you probably hate him more for what he did to a Philly fan back in 01/02.Naples39 wrote:I hate that guy with a passion. Flyers fans should remember this clip;10spro wrote:One of the great enforers of our time retires. Tie Domi.

Let's just hope Domi is a better tough guy-turned-analyst than former Buffalo hit man Rob Ray, who is absolutely horrid as a studio analyst for Buffalo Sabres' TV broadcasts. One of the worst I've ever seen.

LOL that clip is priceless. I wish Domi had elbowed Stevens in the head instead of Niedermayer a few years ago.Naples39 wrote:I hate that guy with a passion. Flyers fans should remember this clip;10spro wrote:One of the great enforers of our time retires. Tie Domi.

Cause Niedermayer was a fair player who didn't deserve it, while Stevens went out his way to injure players his whole career. I just wish that slapshot to his head happened 10 years earlier.GameSeven wrote:I guess taking a slapshot off the side of his head wasn't good enough for you? Is it that debate again?
Stevens was one of the hardest, cleanest, open ice hitters in the history of the game. No fan wants to see anybody from any team's life or well being jeopardized but hockey is a physical game which requires extraordinary talent and toughness. Part of Stevens' legacy was changing the way forwards would enter the zone. Go back to your own Broad Street Bullies if you want dirty play. And if you are referring to, among others, Stevens' hit on Lindros in 2000, it was an ill-advised return to the ice for an already injured Eric. While it showed courage, it also showed he wasn't ready. That's his team's responsibility to manage, not Scott's
FWIW, squeaky clean Nidermayer was suspended and fined $150K in 2000 for a deliberate stick to the head of Peter Worrell. While as a Devil fan I miss his talent, I do agree that he is (for the most part) an incredibly classy player.

That is absolute horsesh*t, and I hate the Devils. Still pissed that the plodding Lindros couldn't skate with his head up?Feanor wrote:Cause Niedermayer was a fair player who didn't deserve it, while Stevens went out his way to injure players his whole career.GameSeven wrote:I guess taking a slapshot off the side of his head wasn't good enough for you? S. Stevens is one of the cleanest hitters I've ever seen. I think we need to educate some people as to what's a clean and what not. If you see Stevens hitting the opponent in the video reel, he always catches them with their head down and never raises his feet to do so. Straight shoulder impact. Great captain....And I hate the Devils as well.
Exciting finish for the Pens tonight as Crosby wins it with 3 seconds left in regulation, his 4th point of the night. Their young talent was on display tonight as Staal had a beautiful shorthanded breakaway goal for his first career goal, followed by another 19 year old Letang getting his first career goal, followed by a couple of goals from Ryan Whitney before Crosby won it. I think it took about a month last year before the Pens picked up two wins, so this has definitely been a more exciting start this season. Although if the Penguins keep taking penalty after penalty and forcing Fleury to make 40+ saves a game, they won't be over .500 for long.
