I am warming up to PS4 mainly because of it's simplicity. The kids decided to try it out today and really enjoyed it. FIFA was very fun for everyone. I went ahead and downloaded that Regosun game from PSN+ and they liked it. But me, I wasn't very impressed.

Question about PSN Plus - what is the best things about it? I know they offer free games but dont think anything for PS4 just yet, only PS3. The games on old gen they offered I remember were of a better caliber than the ones XBL offered. But going thru what so far is offered, the games don't seem too great : pinball and some others. Maybe I just have to get use to PSN plus. On the other hand, on XBL, other than some nice arcade offerings, I guess I wasn't really overwhelmed by any free games there too.

btw- if you have a Kindle reader, the Amazon USB charger works on the PS4 to charge your 2nd controller.

PSN Plus is going to get you free games on the PS3, PS4 and Vita. When I dusted off my Vita last night I downloaded some free games. Other than that I'm not sure what other incentive there is, well except being able to play multiplayer.

I picked up AC4 - PS4
Ryse - XB1
BF4 - XB1

and Forza is on the way from Amazon.

Thanks for the info. It seems like with the influx of new users, this is just a bump in the road for PSN, but they should be extremely happy with all the new business they're going to get. I read they'll put some PS3 games out on PSN which will be able to be played on PS4. I sure would like to try the INFAMOUS series.

I had this same issue yesterday but it was my first time trying remote play so I thought I did something wrong.

The good news is it got me to blow the 6 inches of dust off my Vita.
How far away were your PS4 and Vita? I found out tonight that I had checked the option to connect directly so when I moved my PS4 from the bedroom to the basement over the weekend it was too far away to connect when I was in the bedroom. I unchecked the option to connect directly tonight and just connected over WiFi and it was fine anywhere in the house.

I am downloading Zen Pinball 2 right now and it says it is going to take 80 minutes 8O edit: only really took 10 though.

Ryse was on sale at Best Buy for $49.99 plus I had some rewards burning a hole in my pocket so I pulled the trigger.

Brings up another question - download time on PSN. I remember reading posts on here for demos on PS3, a EA Sports game demo to download would take hours compared to less than an hour on XBL. Is that still the case with PSN?

By far the worst part of this generation is the mandatory installs. I have been stuck on installing Ryse at 2% for the past half hour. Is there anyway to abort, start over, or at least see how long it is going to take?

J/K....but I agree with you. Can't we just freaking put the disc in and play the game!?!?!

At 4% it said I could start the game. Of course it just took me to another in game installation screen which is taking 15 minutes but at least there is dramatic music.

It's stuck on 2% because it's downloading the update. You could try installing the game disconnected from XBL. It may install and let you play without the patch. Most of the launch X1 games required a patch period cause they were released semi complete. Forza 5 is definitely in that group.

Picked up my XB1 today. Felt odd carrying it out of the store with it's bright green box.. just felt like I would get robbed on the way to the car.. LOL..

FIFA 14 is WOW.. beautiful and tighter than the 360 counterpart. It's just so fluid...

I like the voice commands.. took me awhile to figure it all out, but it's pretty neat to say, Xbox, watch ESPN.

I wish when you said, Xbox off, your TV would also turn off.

Skype is neat.. my wife is really going to love the redbox app.. haven't played much else yet. So far, I'm happy with it.

I believe there is an option for that buried in settings somewhere. I'd look for it for you, but I'm away from my system at the moment.

Fifa 14 is outstanding! There's something about the game on next gen that feels so right.

I believe it is suppose to set that up during the initial setup. Mine has always turned the tv on/off.
The option is under settings, tv and one guide, power settings.

You guys rock, thanks!

One last question.. if I have it set to instant on, but turn off after 1 hour, will it still come on if I say, Xbox on? I can't seem to get it to turn on in the AM after it's been off all night.

That's what I have mine set on and it comes on fine, I usually use my controller though as the "xbox on" voice command is by far, for me anyway, the hardest to use. I have to literally stand right next to the kinect and say it a few times for it to work.

Ok, it's not just me then. That's the only command that is a royal PITA. :)

Xbox On works maybe 50% of the time and I have the same issue. Mine turns everything on but when turning off it never turns off the TV.

Aristo wrote:My brother sent me Ryse for Christmas, and holy crap is it a great game. The gameplay is a lot more interesting than I assumed it would be, and it is stunning to look at.
I was finally able to play Ryse a good 1 to 1.5 hours after I put the disk in for the first time and I got 2 hours in. My initial impression is it is an extremely pretty but very average game. It has good combat, but so far the dozens and dozens of people I've killed all look and fight in generally the same manner except for the dude with fire. It's like Batman without any of the stealth or other interesting things to do. The graphics are amazing and certainly a bright glimpse of the future but you never get to venture out of the beaten path into an amazing open world which is the standard in flagship games of the previous generation like AC or GTA. After playing those games it gets frustrating to deal with situations where you run across things you can't climb, walk around, jump over, destroy, etc. The story is a little more interesting so far than I anticipated, but the voice commands are tacked on and my son looked at me like 'WTF are you doing?' So in other words, yeah, this game "looks" next gen but there is nothing about it that "feels" next gen IMO. If they would allow me to explore the world and it still looked this good then, yes, it would be amazing.

Maybe the game will open up. Maybe there are more diverse enemies later. It seems like the game is short...unless things change I imagine that is a good thing as I can't envision mashing buttons against the same enemies for much longer than that. I'm glad I bought it but my initial 2 hour impression is it is going to be something I enjoy for the eye candy, play through once for 6-8 hours, and sell (or trade...in fact if anyone is looking to trade for this next week I'm open to discuss a trade for most XB1 games except Forza and Marvel).

You guys know your stuff.. love DSP.

I have an XBL account and my daughter wants to add her own profile so that when she wants to play the XB1 it recognizes her and loads her profile, from what I've read she needs an email account, is that correct? Will she be able to use my account with her profile to go online?

Nope, that's pretty much spot on Leebo. That's the problem everybody had with it--the enemies are pretty much the same 7 or 8 versions of barbarians from start to finish, and it's short.

It's a fun way to waste a few minutes, but it's not a game you'll come back to and go "this was an awesome game!".

Say what you will about what the Next Gen doesn't do, but one thing it has done is entice me to play games again. I've really enjoyed the past month.

For XB1, does MS force you to setup all the non gaming related TV stuff? or can you just hook it up and start playing as only a gaming machine? I am digging PS4, but got to admit, I really am missing XBL and the interface. Maybe I'll pickup XB1 too but only if MS allows me to bypass all the non-gaming stuff. I just don't want the headache. I'm sure in a year or two they'll release a gaming only version of the console without kinect.
