Thanks for the hard work Don...definitely down to do this again on some other tracks. Makes getting online to get a few runs in really fun.

Yeah, thanks a bunch, Don.

I hadn't fired up Forza 5 that much ever. I kept coming back to it over and over seeing what else I could get out of the cars. Was EXTREMELY fun. Thanks again!

Yes.....Thanks Don.

Was a blast beating your times just to have you beat mine the next day.

Bought many a car and you had me trying figuring out how to max out each car. I mostly failed but it was fun trying.

Totally up for another set at another track.

Yes, you were supposed to do all 8 to get the overall rank, but some guys that were just missing 1 or 2 (like Scott in the D class, which he couldn't be bothered with!!) were tossed it to increase head count, I assume.

I think you can borrow cars when you're just doing the time trial/rivals stuff.

jimmy I may not have you on my friends list, post your gamertag and I will make sure you are on there.

Also, since the real life Petit Le Mans goes through the weekend (don't forget to check out the race), I will be glad to update the stats for anyone who posts new times and fills in the missing gaps. I mainly had the end date of the challenge for 9/29 at midnight due to the fact that Horizon 2 would be released and we would all be playing that. db if you get a D Class time posted you are going to be right in the mix.

I didnt know you could rent a car either. Can you really? Talk about wasted credits. :P

I seem to have some friends that Don and I dont share. To name one, who is Topper? He did help push my times but I dont know who he is and he is not on Don's list.

If I may suggest the next track? I like the road thing...Road America. :D

Any sites with a handful of good setups for many Forza cars? I normally don't rely on setups too much, but I have a hankering to tinker.

Forza 5 is SO much better than every previous game in the series. I love it, and it's not stale or leaving me bored like previous Forzas.

Thanks.

I am just getting into "tuning" in the Forza series as well. I have not found a defnintive site, but I have found several helpful threads in the Turn 10 forums (see links below).

Even though I have been into racing sims for almost 25 years, I have never been a setup master by any means. Coming from the PC racing sim world, Forza 5's "tuning" is a little confusing to me. Basically, the term "Tuning" seems to get used for both what I would call a Build, which is the parts upgrades that you can add or swap on a car, and then the setup, which most of the time seems to be refered to as a tune. This would be your tire pressures, camber, gear ratios, aero changes, etc.

From what I can tell with FM5 (and FH2 for that matter), when you load someone's tune from the Sharefront, you are getting both the Build and the Setup combined. I believe they are "locked" so that you cannot make any edits to them, nor can you see the actual changes that were made.

However, I have found several builders who share "Open Source" builds, like Mick's Garage below, that are cool because they supply the Build (upgrade parts) along with the Setup so that you can create it yourself, and still have the ability to tweak what you like. You can also just download and apply directly from the Sharefront by searching on the Gamertag or Build Name, but again, then you will not be able to tweak it if you want to.

I really enjoyed Mick's builds. They make sense, they have a good balance of speed and handling, but most importantly I found them very fun to drive. I used several of them in the Road Atlanta Rivals Chanllenge.

Post here if you find anything better or if you find that any of the confusion I have above on the whole Build/Setup thing is incorrect. :)

Mega, The Donald. Thanks!

P.S.: Hope you and your son had fun Saturday at Road Atlanta. Gorgeous day! Sorry I missed you guys. I was done Friday night and flew home Saturday morning, just as the Petit Le Mans was entering its second of 10 hours. :)

So I login to FM5 and FH2 for the first time in a couple weeks and I see a Rivals notice that I had been waiting for. theycallhimsim has beaten my times...... What awesome news.

I don't know how I missed this news, but I haven't been posting, browsing, or playing so much lately so I guess that explains it.

So to celebrate the recent additions to the Xbox One racing world (Adam, Jimmy, Paul, among others), I thought it would be a fitting end to the F1 Racing Season to celebrate in style with some Forza 5 Rivals goodness.

DSP Yas Marina (Full GP Circuit) - F1 2014 Season Finale Challenge

Monday Nov 17, 2014 - Sunday Nov 23 at 11:59pm EST

Post a Rivals Lap in all 8 classes at Yas Marina (Full)

Use any car, setup/tune, and assists you like, but you must post a clean lap for it to count in the Rank.

Shoot for two Benchmarks (aka Ranks). The Mechberg Rank and the Mechberg 107% Rank

Our old friend Brian Ekberg's (Mechberg) times are not as stout at Yas Marina as they were at Road Atlanta, but he still tops the charts on my friends list in all classes (except for a couple by the new king of Rivals, XXXIV). Try to beat his times posted for all Classes, and if you can't do that, try to beat 107% of his times as a secondary benchmark. The 107% rule is a Formula One regulation where during the first phase of qualifying, any driver who fails to set a lap within 107 percent of the fastest lap time will not be allowed to start the race. Consider it the entry level benchmark. Your overall Rank is how positive or negative you are to the benchmark times.

At 11:59pm EST on Sunday Nov 23, 2014 I will compile the results and give each DSP member posting times for each class a Mechberg Rank and a Mechberg 107% Rank.

I will try to provide the times and scorecards like I did for the DSP Road Atlanta challenge, but I did not want that to hold up starting the competition. I will provide the current Mechberg Laps, Cars, Assists Used, etc. per Class at Yas Marina (Full), as well as the current World Record in Forza 5 and it's subsequent 107% time. Likewise, if there are some other cars that are consistently being used in the top 100 times, I will post those as well. But again, feel free to use your own and be creative.

PS - Click here to see the Road Atlanta Results if none of what I saw above makes any sense. :) viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16140&start=250#p400175

Make sure you have redeemed your most recent Forza Rewards, you may qualify for FM5 credits that will give you enough for those higher classes.

Only just seen this - busy week, busier weekend. I'm lousy around Yas Marina but I'll join Alex in trying to post a few times if we can have a little bit longer to start turning laps...

Don, I haven't properly got to grips with Forza 5's handling yet (ran a Rivals event at Bathurst against you the other week. I was very crashy. Very, very crashy) and I'm terrified of how my Drivatar behaves when I'm not looking, but some of my Horizon 2 times are OK. Mind, some of them aren't. I've only just unlocked clubs on FH and I'm only 3 or 4 seasons in on FM5, but these two games alone have pretty much justified the price of admission for me already.

Another week would be great so Don can pass me and I can trail and fail at passing him back as per Atlanta. I put the game in and then had to run at least one clean lap on every class. Hot lapping is addictive for me.

And yeah Adam, these two games kick all kinds of booty.
