Omark's spin-o-rama on a penalty shot is driving old-school purists crazy. Pretty ballsy to pull that kind of stuff near center ice. Thing is he delivered and won the game on that shot. Nothing wrong with trying to excite the fanbase of a team that is not very good at the moment.

Maybe T. Hall shouldn't have mentioned that the Leafs were easy pickings during the weekend because what happened last night, was the exactly the opposite. What's up with the cheerleaders in a hockey rink?

D. Phaneuf back to cowtown tomorrow. Hate the Flames, but I can't wait for Iggy to pop one on #3.

This is what happens when you're not selling tickets in ATL, and you want to get some attention:

Sidney Crosby is playing the best hockey of his career lately and with E. Malkin recently back from injury this dynamic duo will be hard to contain in the East.

Seems like the Habs are going to where their keeper C. Price is willing to take them. And lately is nowhere although he still leads in voting for the AS game.

Gotta give M. Crawford his due for bringing the Stars to where they are in the West. B. Richards is playing like his old days in TPA and they are all scoring by committee.

The whole team is sucking it with six losses in seven games...but yeah, he is leading the suckage charge. Last night the Stars scored 5 goals on like 3 shots.

The Flyers held a Skills competition last night and the surprise winner of the hardest shot was JVR with a best effort of 101.5 mph. When he saw the radar gun display he looked shocked.

It's not a surprise that J. Maclean got fired from NJ. It should have been done earlier, and since the owner didn't want to spend a penny more on anyone after the Kovy disaster, Lou managed to resuscitate J. Lemaire from retirement who was already on the organization's payroll and will try to salvage their dismal season.

My 'Nuckers continue to roll taking 5 out of 6 possible points on the road. The CBJ just didn't look interested in the game tonight, as the Twins and Burrows took them apart easily 7-3 after dropping a heartbreaker in OT the day before against the Wings. P. Datsuyk was injured in that game with a wrist injury and will miss action for 3 weeks, but DET is too deep and will continue to roll.

Check the standings in the West, it's tighter than a can of sardines.

Jaime Benn is not known as a pugilist but I've seen him answered the bell a few times and rather well. He's also one of the reasons the Stars are shining under the Crow and he fought tonight against J. Iginla who's a tough dude himself.

Benn bloodied the Flames captain with his longer reach and left him with a black eye although CAL had the last laugh taking the extra point in a SO.

The World Juniors started today in Buffalo. And what better opening than Canada-Russia? Brayden Schenn looked impressive for team Canada as he scored in a PP and was dangerous most of the night. The game opened up in the third when Canada put it away but a team to watch for in this tournament is Team USA.

My brother is heading over to Buffalo for a few games this week. I'm a jealous bastard.

Make that 2. :)

Canucks turned on the sixth gear tonight as they cane back to beat the Oils 3-2 with 20 seconds left in the game. Both teams had glorious chances to score but the more experienced home team capitalized on their last chance before going to OT.

Jeff Tambellini is s pleasant surprise so far playing along R. Kesler. With his speed and tenacity he more than makes up for his lack of size.

C. Schneider played another steady game, is yet to lose a game in regulation.

Early reports for the Winter Classic this upcoming weekend is temps in the low 50's with rain. The temperature has been below freezing pretty much for the last month and it figures it would warm up as the game gets near and the possibility of it being cancelled. :(

You knew this was going to happen at some point. They can't keep doing this outdoor game thing and expect for the weather to cooperate. Considering they once held an exhibition game in 80+ degree heat in Las Vegas it's not out of the question to play the game in 50 degree temps, but the rain will make it impossible.

It used to be tradition in our household on new Year's eve to watch the Flyers battle the Canucks on their annual visit. Of course the schedule has changed a lot but I still look forward to the game tonight. They have the best road record in the league, they've been camping nicely in Lotus land for a few days while staying away from all the nasty weather in the East. 'Nucks of course are tough to beat at home, so something has to give tonight. Should be a good one.

It was a 4 on 4 so there was more room out there, but yeah, Sharks looked terrible and the Kings were dominating the whole game. It could have easily been 7-0.

I was watching the sj/la game live when that pass happened. I was in disbelief when it happened. The timing, the pass itself, and especially the reception and move to make the goal were all terrific.

A bit of everything fell into the right place, at the right time in perfect circumstances (4 on 4). We have a couple of hot dogs in our beer league that try that type of passing and it's how the puck lands in your skates that's most important. When the puck has so much air time, you can't predict how it's going to bounce in front of you but everything was perfectly timed and executed. From Kopy's butter pass to the lethal Brown finish.
