Last night I only had about 20 minute to play so I went into a Poker game and when I lost all my money I got up from the table and shot everyone. Then I killed everyone in the saloon, made my way out of town but eventually got hunted down and promptly quit before it could save :)

I am rolling in my elegant suit and face hankie. The gold revolver (Amazon pre-order bonus) tops off the ensemble nicely.

Those Williamson boys made me mad as hell with what they almost did to a certain lady. F*ckers are gonna pay!

Stealing from the great 21st century film classic Step Brothers and subbing this game for their night vision goggles.

Q:Can you imagine if we had this game when we were 12?

A: Even better we have it when we are 40.

No spoiler here, but...man I wish they didn't make Marsden such a moron when he gets to Mexico! LOL

I wonder where RDR 2 is going to be set at. My only guess is that they will probably make one in 1860-70s and maybe not even have Marston in it.

There are no spoilers here but there's just information...but you've been warned if you like to stay in the dark....

I still wish there was more to do once you beat the game. I know that's not the point, but I don't really want to stop running around the maps and you can only shoot animals for so long.

I think I'm going to give up trying to get 100%. I can't get the disarm 6 people to get the master level sharpshooter. And then there's beating all the hideouts in a 24 game period.

And there's the freaking car to unlock...my only guess is that if you unlock the Agents uniform you can get past the locked doors in the Federal Building.

***spoiler alert***

Rod, I'd set the second one up right after the end of this one, with the government coming after Jack for killing the agent. I'd have Jack leaving this area, and going somewhere else in the west, and them tracking him. Or have Jack hunt down all of the people responsible for John's death.

I dont know if this has been covered but will Rockstar give this game downloadable content GTA IV style?...I want more!...Which reminds me I need to go and finish the Gay Tony download thats been sitting idle on my 360 hard drive. 8)

Anyway...This game for me is Rockstar's crowning achievement. I had very high expectations and these bastards surpassed them. Just f***in awesome and I havent even touched multi player.

A 9.9 outta 10 on the XXXIV scale of gaming goodness.....I had to subtract the .1 for what I considered a couple of really annoying missions.

Surprisingly, I'm in no real rush to beat the main story even though I do finding it very intersting. I'm 17 hours in and spend 90% of my time just screwing around in the environment. This is the world's most engrossing flower-picking-simulator.

:)

XXXIV,
Not sure how the mechanics will stack up going from this back to GTAIV but Gay Tony is awesome - some of the later missions are fantastic.

I love when I'm picking flowers...in a manly fashion of course, and the ultra-creepy music kicks in like I'm wrestling with bobcats or something. LOL

It's funny. I finished the story, watched all the credits, then spent another two hours running around doing side missions and just shooting stuff. It's incredible.

What an awesome game. I never thought I'd get into an Old West game but this is so well done. Beautiful vistas, highly entertaining characters and voice acting, and a wide variety of things to do. I also like that it's much easier to play as good or bad than it was in GTA, where it was almost impossible not to kill at least a few innocent bystanders. I love being a hero to the common folk and a violent scourge to the wicked.

Just a couple things that have been problematic to me:

-Before you get to Mexico, your doing unpleasant favors for a triumvirate of manic, long winded asshats that felt like classic Rockstar, and I mean that in the worst way.

-I felt forced to do some immoral things in Mexico, again in the name of endless favors to gain information where things feel SO drawn out for "game" purposes that I nearly lose interest. There's got to be a better way to lengthen the game and maintain forward momentum then "I need to find this person" and everyone having you do six unsavory things until they throw you a frigging crumb.

I like how they straight up play a song when you get to Mexico though.

OMG, I spent the rest of the game missing Seth and Irish! :)

As I said earlier, there are definitely some incongruities and rough patches in the storytelling. It felt like the result of a too many cooks writing process and the integrity of the character is lost a bit. I don't mean morally, but rather he displays some attitudes and behaviors that aren't entirely consistent with the earlier parts of his story and back story.

None of this was fatal, and I absolutely adore the game. But it was a slight hiccup in an otherwise brilliant experience.

SLIGHT SPOILER

One example is the missions where you assist the old gunslinger in Mexico. Marsden is supposedly a lifelong gang member and gunslinger. You've just cleared New Austin of riffraff and chased Bill Williamson clear across to Mexico. And now, hours into the game no less, some old coot is going to teach you how to shoot birds?

It felt like that section was scripted independently of the entire rest of the game and then stuck in like a module. There are several other times that I felt that way about a character or a series of missions.

Last night I finally got a real taste of the 'Free Roam' mode online thanks to Teal's help! It's such a cool and interesting mode that I still am not sure I fully understand.

We had a Posse of 3 last night and Teal led us around to do the Gang Hideout missions. In between (and sometimes during) we'd encounter other P*ssies, I mean, Posses that would try to mess withs us. At first I found this annoying and kinda immature, however, I took it in stride as I chalked it up to truly being the 'wild west'. Then, after roaming pretty much the entire map and doing some absolutely incredible sightseeing, we decided to track down those as*hats that messed with us earlier. The hunted became the hunters. I set a waypoint on the map to exactly where the 2 or 3 douchebags were doing the 'thing' and we came storming in and took the ridge that they were trying to occupy. We had ourselves a good ol' fashion shootout and eventually drove them out. It was a classic online gaming moment for me. A ton of fun to cap off an overall great free roam experience.

The posse concept and the overall free roam mode started to really click for me as I realized how they combined the totally open world 'roaming' with some missions and then the interaction with other players/posses. I ended up thinking it was truly genius.

The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the lack official or structured missions/modes for free roam. As far as I could tell the only kind of Co-Op gaming is the Gang Hideouts of which there are only like 4 or 5. Other than that I could not find anything to do with my Posse. Hopefully they add some thing or I am able to find a bit more to do in between hunting down other posses.

Like an idiot, I noticed that my fame and honor were not updating, but never thought that it might be the fault of the black mask I liked wearing so much. My honor was near maxed already when I put the thing on, but I'm pretty far into Mexico now and my fame is like 25%, if that. Hopefully it doesn't affect things too much going forward.

Things were a little bit of a slog for a stretch, but getting into environment and hunting challenges has really improved things. If you're just single-mindedly going from mission to mission, it can get a little brainless, but it helps to be on the lookout for particular wildlife and flowers instead of just trudging from point A to B... nice to think about more than one thing at a time, I suppose.

My favorite stuff has been just chance combinations of setting and events, like getting jumped by bandits on a ridge above the road, while the sunset behind them turns them into these beautiful silhouettes against orange as I blast their faces in slo-mo.
