So that you don't have to use your credit card directly?
According to PS3 Fanboy these cards are read for mass distribution to retailers including WalMart, Best Buy+ select Sam's Club locations and in November Barnes & Noble college locations.I called my local Gamestop and they said it should be out next year.
Expect to see them in October.

It's free when you buy the game new. (They include a code for you to enter)Rodster wrote:Whoa why are they charging $19.99 for Live 365? That's supposed to be built-in to the game and free.
When you buy the game 'used' is when you have to pay via XBL or PSN.
The crazy thing about that is if you buy a used copy from Gamestop, which only knocks off 5 bucks, you end up paying way more for a used version than a brand new copy.

What a difference a year makes. Just in playing the 2K9 demo, I already enjoy it a heck of a lot more than the 2K8 retail game. There's just a faster pace to the game. Responsiveness is better IMO, passes are crisp (some of them look phenomenal), and court spacing seems better as well. Now, I will say the graphics seem to have taken a hit, at least on the PS3. Cut scenes look amazing, but game play has taken a step back. I imagine it'll look better on the 360.

No not yet...I'm enjoying the Dodgers game at the moment. Will download it shortly.sportdan30 wrote:True Scott, but have you played the demo yet? By no means does it look terrible (it still looks like a next gen game), but something about it looks different than year's past. That said, I just love the flow of the game so much more from what little I've seen and played thus far.

Well, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. My excitement for this game initially had been rather tempered by the previews and videos I had seen. For the most part, it seemed like the same game. But until you actually play it, that's when you begin to notice the undeniable improvements.
Just off the top of my head, A.I. intelligence seems to have been ramped up (ball screens and cuts look great), free throw routines are unreal, dynamic passing by the A.I. is extraordinary in some instances, responsiveness of the controls is better although I'm struggling with Iso motion with the PS3 controller, in game cut scenes are gorgeous, and as stated, the flow is faster paced which I prefer. It's just more enjoyable to play. That's all I'll say for now as I don't want to overly hype this game before I play the full retail version.

HOLY SH*T. I was excited before...now I am REALLY excited. I'm not even typing with my hands!sportdan30 wrote:Well, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I definitely see what you're saying about the graphics. The Live graphics destroy 2k. 2k still plays a better game on the court...at least in the demo.
I am not as huge an NBA basketball guy as I used to be so keep that in mind but I was kind of underwhelmed by the demo. It seems to play typical 2K basketball which isn't a bad thing but it just seemed stale to me. Again, I didn't play the game too much the past two years. Graphically it seems deficient from last year. If I get an NBA game this year I am leaning towards Live believe it or not. I'll end up renting before I buy. Again, I am not exactly a grizzled vet with hoops games anymore. At least we have choices with this sport.

I totally agree Diablo. I have played the hell out of the 2k series since the first one came out and this demo did nothing but solidify the fact that I need a break from it. Sure, it seems tweaked and refined but it also feels like the same game I've been playing for 9 years now. I'm sure it will be a hell of a game but the demo did nothing for me. I will GF it for sure but I think I'm picking up Live as part of the Toys R Us deal in a couple of weeks.Diablo25 wrote:I am not as huge an NBA basketball guy as I used to be so keep that in mind but I was kind of underwhelmed by the demo. TRU deal is coming?
Last year it was at the end of September but this year, there wasn't anything, just a buy 1 get 50% off the second.
I haven't bought an NBA game in years. Rented Live 08 just for OTP and it was okay but the gameplay was unimpressive. NBA2K9 is suppose to have OTP so I'm going to see how it does. But the 2K Sports games haven't always had the greatest support for the Playstation, especially online. So a more wait and see attitude.

Last I heard the deal is going on the week of October 12th. And Murph, the deal is buy 2 get 1 free. Of course the cheapest game is free but if you get 3 $60 games it's a great deal. I'm looking at NBA Live, FIFA, and Dead Space that week.

Scoop is it just for that week? In the past TRU ran the sale for a couple of weeks.ScoopBrady wrote:Last I heard the deal is going on the week of October 12th. I have no idea...but it's bad. It's exactly the same as the NHL 2k9 interface. I cannot believe people sit in a room agree to use it for their entire line of sports games. Uggh...Rodster wrote:Agreed 2K9 looks better on the 360 but who the hell decided to bring back the horrid 2K7 menu interface.
I'm going to wait for the TRU buy 2 get 1 free deal.
That's the same right thumb stick interface everyone was b*tch*ing about in NBA 2K7. It's confusing as hell.dbdynsty25 wrote:I have no idea...but it's bad.
