Mega drool factor, Piggy. Hopefully this will re-create our "inside, inside, inside, INSIDE, F*CKIN' PIGGY, I'M INSIDE!" side-by-side races with IndyCar Series 2005 on the Xbox, without all of the connection issues.

Eager for this baby! Thanks for the link.

Take care,

Rodster wrote:In case anyone is interested I downloaded the BMW M3 Challenge sim from Blimey Games formerly known as Simbin. OMG is this sweet and shows that Blimey is the new Papyrus of the decade.

The car physics are sublime unfortunately I don't have a racing wheel yet. I'm tighter than PK when it comes to that. But man O man what an experience. Amazingly polished for a free game. Also I need to note the Ring has some very nice and believable track bump mapping although i've never been to the track. When you put the car on the track it feels and behaves like a road car on a race track, somewhat bumpy in certain areas.

It comes with a ton of BMW 3 cars but only the Neurburing short and long course but no biggie as I have no doubt the modders may figure out a way around that. You can also take the game online if you wish.

I forgot to mention the sound of the cars in and out of the car are tight and realistic.

I'm really looking forward to Blimey's next racing sim. Right now it's Blimey and everyone else. ;)
All that from 2 laps around the ring with a joystick ? Ill wait.

The BMW sim is actually very well done. The force feedback effects are really sweet, and the physics seem good. They aren't really race cars so they slide around a bit as they should. The AI was also very good.

It's only 350MB, and free. Give it a shot!

The ongoing saga of the Champ Car mod for rFactor continues with the release of version 1.4:

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... d%20Series

This mod is a classic case of the mod builders listening to the community TOO much, if that's possible. The original mod had WAY too much grip, and people rightfully b*tched about that. Version 1.1 fixed that, creating an excellent mod.

But the last two versions have screwed up this mod pretty bad, as the physics feel very screwy. Small segments of the community complained about version 1.1, which I thought was perfect, and it seems like the mod builders catered to those niche complainers with versions 1.2 and 1.3.

I hope 1.4 returns the physics to something closer to version 1.1, or I'm about ready to give up on this mod and its rampant schizophrenia. The mod builders claim 1.4 is the final version.

Take care,
PK

I never did update from 1.1, and I'm not sure I want to.

This newly released mod has the potential to be my favourite thing in the history of all things, and I'm really narked that I won't be available to try it until after Christmas. I've no idea if it's any good, having not played it, but if you've the slightest interest in the Group B rally cars of the 1980's, and on racing them at close quarters (they were deemed too dangerous to go off down a rally stage, but fine for racing side-by-side), have a gander at this:

Holy sh*t, Adam, you just may have evaporated my free time during Christmas vacation. Can't wait to try this. The ghost of Toivonen lives on virtual rallycross circuits. :)

In game screenshots from Blimey's new game "Ferrari Project" 8O

Also here's some screenshots from Blimey's Kart Attack. Looks good as well.

edit: It looks like these are console and PC games, nothing confirmed though.

Grant, it looks like your dream is finally coming true:
Grand Am 2006

As a joint effort IDT and Team Players will be completing the 2006 Grand Am mod.

As you know it was planned as a commercial release first by D3 and after the split it was picked up by IDT.

The project was being planed by Fusion Racing but due funding issues the project was dropped.

This will be a release on behalf of IDT /Team Players /D3 since we all had a hand in working on it.

I have been in contact with Dennis at Fusion Racing to get full permission to release this as a free mod and to use the name. Although I have not received a final answer it is looking very good at this point we will get permission. There is a fair amount of work to be done but we are making good progress on it and we hope to release it by the Rolex 24hr Race at Daytona in January.

AWESOME!

And it's now official, the Rolex series is coming to the New Jersey Motorsports Park, August 29-31, 2008. I can't wait to see the track, and hear what the drivers say about it.

ISI has just released rFactor Drift Revolution 1.0 and it comes with their scratch built Euro-Ring circuit. I am not big into the whole drifting scene, but this is actually a cool little Christmas present and the Euro-Ring is worth the download alone.

It froze my PC twice, it managed to somehow trigger the wizard for my wireless Internet connection, then managing to completely uninstall my wireless Internet, but finally, I've got me a working Grand Prix 4 and a working Internet connection at the same time.

Does anyone have any recommendations for mods and programs that I might want to install for it? I keep reading that GP4 is a pain in the arse to mod properly so any advice would be appreciated.

Adam are you referring to GP4 mods? If so let me know what mods your interested in. And yes GP4 can be a pain in the bum if you've never tried it before. Fortunately i've figured out how to mod GP4 so many times I don't run into any more problems.

Currently the GP4 mods that are out are for the following seasons:

1991
1995
2000
2003
2004
2005
2006
2007 and hopefully 2008. :D

Which ones are you interested in?

1991 and 1995 from that list, mate.

Edit: I should point out, for clarity, that I've owned GP4 for years. This, though, is the first time I've managed to get the bloody thing running properly on my computer for longer than 10 minutes, and so the first chance I've had to consider modding it.

Ok first your going to need the patch v9.6 and the no cd crack. If you don't have either of them you won't be able to mod it. Secondly i've found thru trial and error that season pack 2006 which includes season 2007 should be installed first in order to stabilize the program.

Do you have patch v9.6 and the nocd crack for patch v9.6?

Also let me point out thru trial and error that if you have 2D sound selected the bloody program will crash and in most cases causing your computer to reboot. Always select 3D audio. ;)

Ok go to this site and download:

1) CSM 1.26 Beta and RealGPX v3.91. You can get them here http://www.gp4db.com/index.php?category ... tion=Tools

2) Next download the 2006, 1995 and 1991 Season Mods.

3) Install CSM first. Choose install defaults

4) Install RealGPX v3.91, Choose install defaults.

5) Open Season Mod 2006 first.
a) select 2006 mod and double click on file 2006.cuh (CSM will do the rest)
b) select the 2006 tracks folder and double click on the file 2006mod_trackpack.tup (CSM will do the rest)
c) select 2006 plus season update and double click on the file "plus_update_2006.tup (CSM will do the rest)
d) select folder season 2007 and select subfolder "Plus Trackpack(PLUS) first! it's the 71meg file. Double click on the file and (CSM will do the rest)
f) select subfolder 2007 "PLUS Season Update (PLUS)" it's only a 3meg file. Double click on the file and CSM will do the rest

6) Now double click on the Zaz icon and you should see the F1 2006 and 2007 season in the selection menu.

7) Now start with the 2006 season select your driver and options from the CSM options screen. Start the 2006 season. Exit the program and do the same for the 2007 season. Start the 2007 game from CSM. Make sure it works then exit.

8) Install season 1995 the same way you install the previous mods. Start first with the file that ends in .cuh and then install your tracks with the file that ends in .tuh

9) Start CSM and you should see season 1995. Choose your driver and options from within CSM and start the 1995 season to make sure it works.

10) Do the same for season 1991. Be advised that some of the tracks in the 1991 season are not currently available so Indy takes the place of Phoenix.

*Keep in mind Adam in order to access any of the mods you need to bring up CSM.*

That's all I can think of for now. If you have any questions just ask.

Rod, when you said RealGPX v3.91, do you mean GPxPatch? If it is GPxPatch I want, there's a v.392 available - I definitely want 3.91?

Yeah it's GPxPatch 3.91 and I would suggest using 3.91 as I haven't had any problems with it. You could try 3.92 if you like but I base my instructions off of CSM 1.26 beta and GPxPatch 3.91

True, and I read the release notes. Nothing there that effects me or makes GPxPatch v3.92 a must have. I only upgrade when there are major updates like when GPxPatch included the F1 HUD on screen, that was nice.

A question to other users of the 1991 mod - no matter what I do I can't make the visors disappear in cockpit view, I'm always racing on the 2001 tracks regardless of which trackset I select in CSM and Murray and James only commentate if I tell them not to commentate. In addition, when commentary works my engine is almost inaudible, my rev counter sometimes stops working and the TV overlays won't appear even if they're switched on. What have I done?

Edit: It seems as if the mod is only half-loading somehow. Tried it again just now and the visor issue seems to have fixed itself, though everything else is still not right. Driver names are those from the original game and I'm getting the 2004 digital TV overlays instead of the 1991 ones.

All except one of the major categories had close votes too. The Champ Car mod would have done better if not for all the shaky updates.

My opinion, but the Champ Car mod isn't in the same league as the Grand Prix 79s. That should have been a landslide vote.
