-7 on that course for 72 holes is playing some golf Vader. I played with your ghost ball the last three rounds and was impressed with your course management. Your chipping game is very solid also. That 65 you shot in round 2 was epic! I actually stood at 5 under at one point in round 2. I holed out a 65 yard lob wedge for eagle on the first hole and holed a 56 yard pitch for eagle on the back. Where I really killed my chances for going really low in that round was when it took me 4 shots to get down from 16 yards out in a greenside bunker on the short part three on the back nine. I left the bunker shot short in the heavy rough between the bunker and the green, then hit a "checking chip" to the downhill sloped green that was 18 feet short, and two-putted for a double-bogey from there.

This course looked and played great, until it was time to putt. I just found the greens to be unrealistically fast for the severity of their slopes. I would love to see what the course would play like with medium speed greens. It would be a much more lifelike challenge, I think. I've never hit a 19 foot putt 52 feet past the hole on any course I've ever played in real life, and I did it twice in this tournament, plus an untold number of putts of less than 10 feet that went 15 feet past the hole. OTOH, I made a lot of 10-20 footers for par in this tournament and I hate to think of what I'd have shot if that make percentage had been more like it is in real life :)

I agree. At the end of the day it was the downhill putts and Captain Hooks that sank me deep into a deficit in round #2 and #3. Can't remember the hole but somewhere in the latter nine holes, I swear it was almost as if the water was plain talking straight to my controller to join in for a swim. Even after pausing and resetting my drive swing I went three times like a sucker in the first three rounds. Wind or no wind. But ultimately it was the unrealistic speed of the greens what ruin the experience for an otherwise fine course.

I watched the last couple of holes of the real tourney and Reed was tied with Casey at -10 on the 18th with a long uphill putt that he didn't hit hard enough and it came right back to the same spot he was standing so he then chipped it close but had to settle for a bogey, Tiger hit a 40 something putt on 17 to pull within one for a playoff but came up short on another long putt for birdie on the 18th.

Loved today's course, still didn't play well but really loved it.

Won my 1st official society event last week and I'm in 1st in the current one. Playing people who suck just like me :D

Tried to play a practice round at Bay Hill. I'll be skipping this weekend tourney, if you though Copperheads greens were bad wait until you get to this course. Try the 2nd hole par 3 at pin position 1, let me know how it works out for you. Or #3 fairways which slope 60 degrees away from the center of the fairway.

This course has a 3 star rating and I'm not sure how it is that high. I'd rather be repeatedly kicked in the nuts then attempt 4 rounds on this rendition.

Played a round with 10spro and after getting through the first 3 or 4 holes with the hilly greens it wasn't too bad, and if the greens weren't so fast it probably wouldn't be a bad course, finished at +4 for the round. Did change it to a Vol 2 version which looks to just change a little cosmetically with TGC2 signs in the game, played one round on it and finished -2.

Sorry I wasn't trying to b*tch and make you change it. Just that the course will be an exercise in frustration for me. If you're only shooting -2 that says something. For a game that looks so good and plays so well in 95% of the game the green physics and chipping are a major setback.

You had a point. The first few holes was like skating on the greens. We were discussing that probably a lot would be rage quitting in a hurry, so Vol 2 version is the right way to go about.

Vader, I’ll try to hook up again with you to try the new version...

I played a practice round of it last night, won't play it anymore until the tourney tomorrow or Friday, probably going to do 2 rounds of the official society tournament and then get caught up on some tv shows tonight.

Would anyone be interested in setting up a match play tournament? I'm not sure how many we can get as the turn outs for tourneys are down to about 4-6 recently.

Shot a brutal +11 on the first round alone at the Arnold Palmer tournament. No, it wasn’t the speed of the greens that bothered me, but the unpredictable wind. Come on, I play golf in real life. If I have a wind that’s going +15mph against me and I have only a pitch shot of about 80 yards, there’s no way that the wind can affect the ball path to the point where I land in the water a few times. As in 3 times, hole #8. Not with an 85 yards wedge. Come on...

Arghrrr, frustrated.

Funny enough with the same wind behind my back though, I had a few short pitches of less than 100 yards on a few holes, yet the wind had no effect whatsoever as I would land way short of the green.

Other than the unpredictable wind for me, I enjoyed the course.

Another course with firm/fast green setting leading to many missed putts rolling 15 feet passed the hole.

I doubt I will finish this tournament. Way too frustrating and not fun. :(

This is the main reason I would like to see adjustable course settings in TGC2019.

We all would, but they don't seem to care what the community wants. Or else it is so hard wired into the course creation that it would be a massive change beyond their scope at this point.

The wind screwed me up so much in all 4 rounds, especially as I kept getting fast and slow downswings that went extremely left or right, switched to player clubs for the 4th round but didn't help my score at all.

I played round one, I think I was +12 or 13. The course is just not to my liking. I don't like hitting greens to have the ball roll back off the front, maybe one or two holes but not as many as this course has.

True dat. But trust me compared to the earlier version we were supposed to play this weekend, this Vol 2 is a slight improvement. I had a putt just a couple of inches away from the hole until it rolled back 14 feet down. Check my feed, ridiculous.

Feel ya, I had to walk away in the middle of my 4th round when my 3rd straight chip roiled back down and off the green.

Yes, just like a Tiger, your game seems to be clicking again eh? I really didn’t mind the course in he beginning despite my early struggles. If it wasn’t for the unpredictable wind, it was the unrealistic speed of the greens. By the 12th hole of the third round, I just told myself to finish the tournament. I could NOT wait to finish the fourth round and it became speed golf. I don’t know why other than the two factors I mentioned, because it’s a nice course to play.

Regardless, good shooting out there.
