After getting a big high on Friday after avenging their lopsided loss to the Hawks with a SO from Luongo, the boys felt flat back at home losing to the Blues 3-2. Only Kesler and Hansen showed up on Sunday to play, they just took St Louis too lightly knowing that they've been struggling.
Want to see some skill? Any skater would tell you that receiving a late puck while going at full stride and then to kick it to your stick for an eventual assist is not easy to do. The kid did it last night as the Pens continue to roll in the East.
Closest goal call I have ever seen in Flyers Sharks game. OT, Briere tips a shot that goes in as horn goes off. Replay shows the puck a hair (and I mean hair) short of the goal line as time expires....damn! Unreal. On to the shootout...and the Sharks get it...son of a....

Couldn't have taken Dad to a better comeback win from the 'Nuckers as R. Kesler tied the game with 20 seconds left in the game.
Down 2-4 with eight minutes to go things looked really gloomy for the home team as they totally dominated the Quacks but just did not finish their numerous chances. Luongo gave a couple of softies and the way ANA was clogging the neutral zone, Canucks had little chance to mount a comeback.
Sedin on a PP and Kesler's heroics made the impossible comeback. Even though B. Burke is in TO, this ANA team is still the broadstreet bullies version of the West, they are intimidating, all big guys and the Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry is just so hard to contain.
Hate A. Voros who challenged K. Bieksa to a fight, but the gritty D-man just dropped him like a sack of potatoes.
Pops was happy to witness his first SO as Luongo stopped the final shot.

I've never held O'Marra in much regard. A bit of a bust.
But I've read nothing but rave reviews about Omark through David Staples' "Cult of Hockey" blog from the Edmonton Journal. He has a contact in Europe, Peter Adler, who is pretty harsh in his assessments of players. But Adler gushes over Omark.
Gang, check out "Cult of Hockey" if you haven't already. It's easily the most well-written, analytical, interesting Oilers' blog:
This season has been a blast so far. Say what you want about Bettman (there's a lot to be said lol), but this league is at a point where I am finding myself watching tons of games that do not even feature my favorite team. The play is up-and-down the ice, there are still big hits and good fights, there's a lot great young players seeing nice ice time, and of course there are the likes of Sidney and Ovi. Sure, idiots like Campbell still make some pretty dumb decisions and the league does a poor job of marketing itself, but for a big hockey fan such as myself times are good right now.

Right, except that when I see the lows, there are really disgustingly LOW. How about that dude M. Carkner flicking his own blood at the Rangers bench last night as he was cut in a tilt.

But I hesitate to anoint Omark until I see him in NHL action because all Oilers' fans remember that Robbie Schremp had incredible shootout and puck skills, and he has been a complete bust in NHL.

Former 'Nucks captain Markus Naslund gets his jersey retired at the Rogers Arena tonight. Well deserved, classy Swede, great contributor to society off the ice and a key figure in the 'West Coast Express' line considered one of the best lines in the league not long ago.
