100 percent agree AJ with your points. While the commmentary has grown a bit stale for me, I just can't ignore everything that this game does right from the gameplay and presentation perspective. It just feels very complete in regards to an equal balance between pitching, hitting, and fielding. It just feels so much like baseball which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your excitement for the game.
Spot on w / that assesment AJ.I've gotten only a couple of innings in last nite, and already have seen new animations that affect the gameplay, such as my SS booting a DP grounder that I immediately corraled, could'nt get the runner at 2nd,but still got the runner at 1st. Don't recall seeing that last year. Also the cpu wiped out my SS on a DP grounder that was slowly hit to 2nd. Good stuff, its early but I'm happyAJColossal wrote:In my opinion, here are the main ways 10 improves over 09 after one day of play:
-Hitting variety improved
-Check swings feel better
-User pitching seems a bit harder to control (good thing)
-Batted balls are much more lively, resulting in more extra base hits and randomness
-As a result of the livelier ball, all around defensive strategy becomes more important
-Presentation is much fresher
-Fielding much more dynamic feeling
-Errors more varied and random
It all depends on how important those changes sound to you. 09 was a fine game, and there was nothing at all wrong with it, but I couldn't be happier with the upgrade in 10.
Yeah, last night I hit a Baltimore chop that just got past the pitcher, the SS came charging in, barehanded it, kinda bobbled it and probably shouldn’t have thrown to first but did, the throw was in the dirt and the firstbaseman could only block it and the ball wound up in no-man’s land about 15-20 feet toward RF. If I had been more alert my batter probably could have made it to second, I was just so caught off-guard by what I was seeing. That bobbly baseball thing is definitely new this year.snaz16 wrote: Spot on w / that assesment AJ.I've gotten only a couple of innings in last nite, and already have seen new animations that affect the gameplay, such as my SS booting a DP grounder that I immediately corraled, could'nt get the runner at 2nd,but still got the runner at 1st. I may be off here, but have you completed a full game? I think they only save to your profile after you've completed a full game.matthewk wrote:Antone else having problems with some of the settings not sticking? Some of my adjusted settings stay, but there are a few that I have to reset before each game. I have a profile saved.

Yes, you have a profile saved, but you literally have to manually save from the main menu, the profile for settings that are changed "in game" to stick.matthewk wrote:Antone else having problems with some of the settings not sticking? Was wondering the same thing, but Db's answer makes sense. I too thought my settings would save as long as the profile saved.matthewk wrote:Antone else having problems with some of the settings not sticking? In my limited time so far I am loving it.
The Broadcast view is beautiful but is a little hard to get used to as I am having a little difficulty fielding. Have been tempted to change back to regular view, but I am just playing exhibition games. Will stick with it so I can use for when I start my season.
I am also having trouble locating my pitches, but nothing that alarms me. One, I am pitching with the Reds and two, I remember last year I had to find a rhythm with the Classic pitching. Hitting seems about the same, maybe a little more dynamic as the ball comes off the bat a little differently. That could be the Broadcast view also affecting it.
Fielding will be more difficult this year as it seems the ratings really affect range and arm strength. Throws off-line too, but that was in last years game also.
Had a great play where Volquez took one off the shin. The ball bounced towards Rolen who charged toward the mound, bare handed and threw a strike over to Votto to get the guy by a step. Awesome.

This is the first time with regards to this series that it really does seem that team defense may decide the outcome of a game. Which by the way is great!
I had a play last night that almost cost a run where Schumacker (2nd year playing second base) bobbled a grounder with two outs, but was able to recover and throw the runner out with the meter in the red. If I throw over lightly to first base, the runner is safe. Freese also took a lazer in hole at third in a separate inning, but his throw was not strong enough to beat the runner. If I had Rolen, that runner is gunned down for sure.

I got a couple of extra codes for the classic stadiums when I picked up my copy from Gamestop yesterday. (The manager didn't even know she had them, and said that she had told others earlier in the day that they hadn't arrived when really they were buried in a drawer.) If anyone is interested, first come first served.

It does seem that way. Playing as the Nats, they were kicking the ball all over the field. And seeing the Rockies speedy OFers track down balls in Coors Field is a thing of beauty.sportdan30 wrote:This is the first time with regards to this series that it really does seem that team defense may decide the outcome of a game. Gotta wait til Thursday when the PSN updates. That's seems to be what people are being told.dbdynsty25 wrote:I've got the code...entered it...nothing. Just said thanks for visiting the PSN Store. So, it appears they don't work yet and I'm gonna be pissed if I can't enter my code again when they are valid. Right now it just says it's invalid or it has already been used. It's six classic stadiums.
They're sneaky. I had to personally asked for it and the sales chic then said 'Oh yeah'. Then she went on saying that she only had one code and that I was lucky as the other pre-orders would be out of luck.Sport73 wrote:Gamestop didn't give me a code with my pre-order or when I picked it up... WTF?
Now, I recall putting down the code and it accept it. However I didn't check if the classic stadiums were loaded.
