Well this season we have a fierce battle for the Worst Team of the Year award.
Now that the Cowboys have beaten the Chiefs in OT, the Redskins, 2-3 so far on the season, next week will face their SIXTH team in a row that does not have a single win. The Giants game was the first game of the season, yes. But they have followed that with the Rams, the Lions, the Buccaneers, the Panthers, and next week the 0-5 Chiefs.
And they're still 2-3. I think we have a strong argument about being the worst team in football right now. I know, I know, other teams are worse. But can there be any argument that we have the worst ownership and management in football? Ok, ok, there is always Al Davis. But is he suing grandmothers who lost their jobs when they try to pull out of their season tickets? I don't think so!
Snyderrato (that's the two-headed monster that is The Danny and worthless GM toadie Vinny Cerrato) outdid themselves this week by hiring Sherman Lewis, out of football for five years, as an 'offensive consultant' without telling any of the coaches that they were going to do so.
And then Cerrato has the gumption to pull out this gem of a quote on a local TV show:
DC Sports Bog by Dan Steinberg wrote:And here's what Vinny Cerrato said about the Sherm Lewis hiring, Thursday on Redskins Nation:
"I give Jim a lot of credit for bringing a guy, you know, wanting another set of eyes, because we have struggled some. And for him to say, you know, 'That's a great thing, let's do it if it's the right guy who's had work in the system,' I give credit to Jim for wanting to add somebody, to take a look."
Wow. After Defensive Coordinator Greg Blache threw himself under the bus after the Lions game, the Redskins management are running out of busses to throw coaches under.
So there you have it, Ram, Raiders, Chiefs, Bills, and Bucs fans. We may end up with 4 or 5 wins on the season, but I think we're still the worst operation in football.
Ted Leonsis, please, please, please buy this team!
EDIT: Of course, Rush Limbaugh could snatch that distinction right back to the Rams if his bid to buy them goes through. Will we see another all-white team in the NFL, the first since the Redskins traded for Bobby Mitchell in 1962? One has to wonder. . . .
