Crabtree can't be traded until March.

And if he's going to play this year, he has to sign by 11/17.

I'd trade his rights for the Dolphins' first-round pick. But it's going to be a buyer's market if he does sit out the season.
Actually I'm pretty sure Crabtree can't be traded at all. If he doesn't sign, he will go back into the draft next year, and I think the niners lose his rights something like two weeks before the draft. He can only be traded if they sign him first.

As to Gruden, he has easily become my favorite already. As much as I have liked Jaws in the past, especially with Vermiel those few times, now I'm just wishing he would shut up and let Gruden talk. I really wish the decision makers would put one offensive guy and one defensive guy in the booth. The defensive perspective is way under represented on TV.

Why would Mangini trade with the Jets unless he got a lot back in return?

Probably because he knows exactly what he's getting since he's worked with them before. It's definitely an interesting trade.

I'm pretty sure this was Lebron's doing, not Mangini's.

That's probably a lose-lose for the Jets and Browns. Cleveland gives up on a top 3 pick for spare parts and probably mid-round draft picks, and the Jets think they're getting a receiver who can catch. Plus you're sending a young player with behavior issues to New York. Good luck with all that.

The nightclubs in New York are lonely without Plaxico. Plus their patrons actually started showing up without Kevlar after Plax went upstate for a two-year vacation, and that makes the bouncers nervous.

Enter Braylon Edwards. All problems are solved. :)

Take care,

It'll be interesting to see how well the Phins stack up against the Jets who are definitely not playing like last years team. In fact i'm more inclined to favor the Jets over the Pats to win the AFC East this year.

I think the Jets are a year away. Sanchez has played well for a rookie but he's still a rookie. Thomas Jones looks like he may be wearing down, and Leon Washington is the AFC's Jerious Norwood, a home-run hitter who will be ruined if he has to carry the ball 20-25 times a game. I don't think Edwards will help a lot right away because it will take time for him to work with Sanchez. Their defense should keep things close most games, but their offense will slowly fall off unless Jones rebounds or Shonn Greene starts making an impact. I see the Pats passing them and the Jets making the wildcard.

The Rams looking good. Love the throwbacks!..I use em in every game :)

Too bad they are already losing 14-0. Their offense is following up last weeks -21 plus/minus with a -7 so far this week as Boller drops the ball and the Vikings return it for a TD.

I remember the 0-14 Bucs and know last years 0-16 Lions and both those teams would beat the f*** out of these Rams.

EDIT: Rams get the ball . Drive to the Vikings 2 with a 1st and goal. Steven Jackson drops the ball.
Now we have two unforced fumbles. The first results in a Viking TD and the second keeps the Rams from scoring.
Cant even make a clean hand off. This is f***in embarassing  and a I must admit a bit comical.

EDIT2: YES!!!...After a Favre INT the Rams move the ball into their second 1st and goal situation and this time they do NOT turn it over and get the FG....Thats right they are averaging 1.5 points per 1at and goal. They have now scored their 27th point of the season and our now only -4 on offense. Things are looking good :D

EDIT3:Lordy. Lordy. 3rd time inside the 10 and you guessed it no points. Passs to Fells going to be 1st and goal...Fumble!...Vikings ball. Their is a bright side though, The vikings did not return the ball for a TD.
Here we go Rams!...Here we go!

EDIT4: Half time 17-3. One of the Rams better halves this year. They are only -4 on offense. They did manage to score 3 points in 3 trips inside the Viking 10. The punter had a very good kick with excellent hang time.

Question to the NFL. Why no personal foul call on that blatant cheap shot?

You call all kinds of total f***in bullshit and embarrassing to the sport personal foul penalties but totally ignore an obvious attempt to injure.

Disgusting!

Amazing they are I tell you.

Rams make their 4th trip inside the Viking 10 and on 4th down Boller throws an INT.

So lets recap.... 4 trips inside the 10 and 3 points as the result. You are reading this correctly. Thats 4 trips inside the Viking 10 with 3 points and 3 turnovers.

That means .75 points per trip inside the opponents 10 yard line. Is that futility or what?

The Lions will bury these assholes.

EDIT: Maybe it will be close in Detroit. Be still my heart. What was that? A Ram TD? ...Yeah baby!....The Rams have now scored 34 points this season.

EDIT 2B: Vikings put in the subs and they proceed to drive the length of the field. TD Vikings. 38-10. That sounds about right.

EDIT 3B: Final thoughts on Rams week 5. They looked good. The play was disgraceful but damn did they look good in those uniforms. 0-16 is a very real possibilty. the Lion game looks they only real shot at a win and at this point I think the Lions will be having lamb.

So much for the Ravens' improved offense. Only 14 points and one of the TDs was a defensive TD.

The defense can only hold out so long, if you give the other team enough chances.

Bills are a bag of steaming excrement. How Dick Jauron managed to get the head coaching job is completely beyond me.

Best wishes,

They switched to the Bills game here at the end and all they needed was 3 points to go to OT.

But they seemed so disorganized running the no-huddle offense -- WRs not knowing where to line up, the QB trying to get the play from the sideline, etc.

This is the team which got rid of the OC right before the season?

Bengals 4-1 and should be 5-0 if not for the miracle of Orton.

Browns and Panthers have a win.

Favre is still a dildo.

Lions with a good effort. Dont worry Detroit fans. You will be having lamb soon.

Steelers alive and well.

McNabb is back.

Giants look Super to me.

That's pretty much the SOP for them - mass confusion, incredible brain farts resulting in penalties or missed assignments. Their offensive line is an absolute disaster as well.

There'd still be a ton of problems if they got rid of Jauron but I don't think there's any prospect of improvement without making that first step.

Best wishes,

Doug

I was sick enough watching the Rams play...Do I really need to be looking at the Bronco throwups ?

Cowboys win is just the perfect finish to a shitty set of early games.

Unlucky for the Rams that they don't get the Bills. They were the answer for the Browns winless streak!

Too bad the Cowboys escaped that mess. OTOH, I definitely picked the right week to start Miles Austin in my fantasy league.

Wow that was close. I was about to vow to stop ribbing StL Cards fans just to get a Cowboys win. Whew!! Great game for Miles Austin in his first NFL start. 10 catches for 250 yards 2 tds. who needs Roy Williams.

Well this season we have a fierce battle for the Worst Team of the Year award.

Now that the Cowboys have beaten the Chiefs in OT, the Redskins, 2-3 so far on the season, next week will face their SIXTH team in a row that does not have a single win. The Giants game was the first game of the season, yes. But they have followed that with the Rams, the Lions, the Buccaneers, the Panthers, and next week the 0-5 Chiefs.

And they're still 2-3. I think we have a strong argument about being the worst team in football right now. I know, I know, other teams are worse. But can there be any argument that we have the worst ownership and management in football? Ok, ok, there is always Al Davis. But is he suing grandmothers who lost their jobs when they try to pull out of their season tickets? I don't think so!

Snyderrato (that's the two-headed monster that is The Danny and worthless GM toadie Vinny Cerrato) outdid themselves this week by hiring Sherman Lewis, out of football for five years, as an 'offensive consultant' without telling any of the coaches that they were going to do so.

And then Cerrato has the gumption to pull out this gem of a quote on a local TV show:
DC Sports Bog by Dan Steinberg wrote:And here's what Vinny Cerrato said about the Sherm Lewis hiring, Thursday on Redskins Nation:

"I give Jim a lot of credit for bringing a guy, you know, wanting another set of eyes, because we have struggled some. And for him to say, you know, 'That's a great thing, let's do it if it's the right guy who's had work in the system,' I give credit to Jim for wanting to add somebody, to take a look."
Wow. After Defensive Coordinator Greg Blache threw himself under the bus after the Lions game, the Redskins management are running out of busses to throw coaches under.

So there you have it, Ram, Raiders, Chiefs, Bills, and Bucs fans. We may end up with 4 or 5 wins on the season, but I think we're still the worst operation in football.

Ted Leonsis, please, please, please buy this team!

EDIT: Of course, Rush Limbaugh could snatch that distinction right back to the Rams if his bid to buy them goes through. Will we see another all-white team in the NFL, the first since the Redskins traded for Bobby Mitchell in 1962? One has to wonder. . . .
