I finally finished the campaign last night. Story was nonsense, and it was told in a confusing disjointed manner. May as well be a bunch of random levels.

I think they got away from basics too much, and made it too much of a thrill ride. Overall not as good as MW1, but at least there were no insanely frustrating moments in this game like in MW1.

Maybe go back and pick off some levels on Veteran, find some intel, now that I know what is going on in each level.

I don't think I've ever put more hours in a game in MP while totally ignoring the single player. As far as I'm concerned they could've just shipped this like Shadowrun as MP only.

Given my brief dalliance with the single-player, and the reviews and impressions here, there's just no way it stacks up against the tower of great games that I have to play instead.

Well a lot of the settings/scenes were really cool with crazy effects and attention to detail. It's just that it all happens so fast it's a blur rather than really sucking you in to the world.

I've only played the first chapter of the single player. Done about half of the Spec Ops though.

I understand people not wanting to play single player, but MW1 had a really good single player campaign. There is no reason the game couldn't have both, considering you can do the whole thing in about 6-8 hours anyway.

I can't believe I am going to say this but for me this game pales in comparison to MAG. I hate online gaming on the PS3 but MAG is a system seller as far as shooters go IMO.

Same here.I may play through some of it,but I know I won't finish.
I have CoD 2,3,4,5 and now 6 and haven't finished any of them.
Once you play MP,the SP game really doesn't hold up.

So now that the game has been out for a while, I would be interested to hear what some of you guys have settled on as far as weapons and perks.

My go to has been the M16A4 with Heartbeat, Red dot, Sleight of Hand, Stopping Power and Ninja but I just can't find anything I'm comfortable with when trying to go silent. I notice that quite a few of the really good players seem to use the ACOG, but it blocks so much of my vision and seems so dark that I have a hard time using it. When it comes down to 1v1, I come out on the losing end way more often than not.

On the leaderboards I see Naples in the solid 1.3's for K/D ratio, and Web has worked himself up there as well last I checked. I feel like I've just stalled out as far as improving my game over the last few days.

My favorite weapons to use are the AA-12, and the M16 with an ACOG for sniping. The AA-12 is a very powerful automatic shotgun, but sometimes I like to go with the striker which has a little more range. I use the M16 for long distance shots only.

I have tried the Barrett (sp?) with an ACOG too, but I can't get any kills with it when I aim for some reason.

As for perks, I go with cold blooded and ninja all the time. Cold blooded is very powerful because you're invisible to air strikes and sentry guns that way. Silent footsteps are good too.

Scavenger + claymores is a great combination. You can hide somewhere, and put up to two claymores down at any one time. If you manage to get a kill, you can get another claymore from the body and reset it for the next unsuspecting soul to come.

This strategy is really effective on the Terminal level if you sit within the airplane and plant them at the jetway entrance.

I like to experiment and use all the different weapons and perks occasionally, but I inevitably find I can't live without stopping power.

I also find I am far more effective with the low-kick assault rifles like the SCAR, M4 and ACR.

As for attachments, I pretty much stick to simple sights and sometimes with a noob tube (definitely use noob tube for objective games to clear capture points).

I mostly use Ninja Pro in slot 3 perk, and slot 1 I switch around with things like Marathon, sleight of hand and bling.

Killstreaks I keep it simple---UAV, care package, predator. Most people don't use UAVs and wait for the big killstreaks, but they do so to the detriment of their team as constant UAV scans gives your teams a huge advantage during a match. Care packages may often be crap, but preserve the possibility of getting the big killstreak rewards, and predators are an easy 1-3 kills when earned.

Eventually there's only so much room for improvement in your skills and it comes down outsmarting the other team with your movement to do really well. Knowing the fields of fire to protect, briefly stopping at good overlooks for an easy kill or two before getting flanked...etc. I try not to worry about my ratio though because that takes the fun away.

I've unlocked all the attachments on the M16 and RPD, but vastly prefer the light machine guns, often with the thermal scope. I'm working my way through the SCAR and AUG attachments now, though I do keep a Marathon, Cold-Blooded, Ninja, Mini-Uzi slot lying around for when I feel like trying to stab people.

My killstreaks are fairly settled at Predator Missile, Pave Low, and AC-130.

I've had some really bad runs lately, mostly when I was trying to work my way through the M16. Just didn't feel right to me.

My primary weapons varies on the map. But I usually use the Scar-H, M16 with the red dot or ACR. Perks are usually Scavenger pro or marathon, lightweight and Ninja pro. I don't think I'll ever get to Prestige like some out there.

I have 2 assault rifle builds, a Sniper Rifle build an LMG build and 1 crazy-ass close combat setup.

The AR both have M16A4's. One with HB sensor and the other with noob tube. For perks the HB sensor has Stopping Power and the other has Hardline.

The LMG is an AUG HBAR with thermal and grip + stopping power.

The weapon that has made the most difference to me is the M21 EBR sniper rifle. This thing changed my life. :) I put a silencer on it and use stopping power to compensate and it's still wickedly accurate and powerful. I have enormously improved my kill ratio since opening this thing up.

My close combat build is used almost exclusively on Rust and Highrise. I use akimbo P90's with FMJ and Rate of Fire added on plus stopping power. It's basically like carrying around 2 mini-guns.

On Domination maps I always, always, always use C4. Ask Naples how that works LOL It's always good for some easy kills, and I've won a few close games with it on my own. For Deathmatch I switch to Semtex or occasionally Frags.

All of my builds use the M1014 shotgun with grip. One shot kills all over the place.

Killstreaks are Care Pckg, Sentry and Attack Copter. I am basically the opposite of Naples. I rely on good Samaritans like him for the UAV's, and I am utterly obsessed with kill ratio.

Heh, I'm mid-sixties now and it's a stretch to say I've settled on anything. Very seriously, it's more usual than not for me to have modified and then used all 5 custom slots over the course of a single sitting. I'm always playing with new combos of weapons, attachments and perks.

That said, my favorite 'all rounder' gun at this point is the ACR. Second favorite is probably the AUG HBAR with grip and holo. Hardly ever use snipers (I don't like playing that way with this game + I'm bad with them) and shotguns (on principle), but everything else is fair game.

I too am having a hard time finding a mid/long range gun in a quiet class I like and use well. I was using a M16 for a while, but I think I actually like the FAMAS better.

My perk usage is pretty varied within a certain range.

Perk # 2 is always stopping power or cold blooded. I don't bother with anything else there.

Perk # 3 is almost always ninja, though I've toyed with commando, and use steady aim with the AUG from time to time

Perk # 1 can be any of them, though Bling is probably # 1 and sleight of hand last.

I'm surprised a bunch of you mentioned somewhat static killstreaks. I change these around both based on the build I am currently using and the map I'm on. For big, open maps like Wasteland I usually do the air support thing, with something like Predator/Harrier/Chopper Gunner, but in tight indoor maps like Skidrow, I'll run with UAV, Counter UAV and Sentry. If I'm not using a heartbeat sensor I'll usually use UAV, so maybe substitute something like UAV/Predator/Harrier on Wasteland if I'm running with a ACOG/Silenced M16. You have more than enough time between rounds to edit these, I find, so I change them from round to round.

My main concern at this point, however, remains trying to solve my lag issue. I found Brando online yesterday and joined him for like 4-5 rounds where I didn't have any issue. I'd like to try the same with Macca, and everyone shouldn't be surprised if you see me raiding your games to try to see if it's someone specific I'm having a problem with. Every once in a while I run into the problem 'in the wild,' but it's never nearly the problem as it is on DSP nights.

EDIT: Couple of other points:

One of more of my classes always has a Stinger or something in the secondary slot to take down air support. Even if it's the class I'm not favoring for the round, I want to be able to switch to take air support down.

I *love* Semtex. Very versatile: Use it as a frag, stealth tag one guy in a group of three to watch him blow up his buddies, throw it behind you in a door for a quick claymore, blast one of those riotshield F'ers, etc.

Anyone here feel free to jump in or invite me to a group so we will be on the same team anytime. Most of the time I don't have a mic as the family is usually retired for the night, but I enjoy knowing that there are others on my team that are playing the game like adults.

Rob's Akimbo P-90 setup sounds nasty!

It'll be great when I get extended mags. For now it's fantastic, but burns through a clip in about 1.1 seconds LOL

My favorite setup in the game:

Tar-21 with Silencer
Stinger
Slight of Hand
Stopping Power
Ninja

Care Package
Harrier Strike
Pavelow

Whenver I switch it up I still find that I have the most success using Assault Rifles over any other class.

I initially used the RPD to get used to the new maps and gameplay.
I got Mastery and over 1000 kils with it,and moved on to building up the ARs.

At first I thought the M4 was a pea shooter, but I eventually came to like its' dependability.I keep it (or swap M16) as my Rangers/TF 141 build( I am nerd that way).

I like the SCAR,particularly the iron sights, but the low ammo count keeps me from regularly using it.

The FAMAS(aka the Whispering Death) is my tool of choice on open maps.
Silenced,it is a thing of beauty.Great irons,as well.

TAR and UMP are actually interchangeable and are great for CQC.
I also have built up the P90 on Sub Base.

The AK is a horse, but poor irons keep it from being a go-to for distance maps. The F2000 is just plain wild and hard to control.

I also, will use the AUG on occasion. It and the RPD are the only LMGs worth hauling around, statistically.

For builds I am CP Pro and Ninja Pro always and usually Bling w/tube and silencer.

For streaks I used to got go UAV/CUAV/Pred,but as I've gotten better,I add more offense with Pred/Harrier/Pavelow. I'll swap the B2 strike in objective games to paste a point.

As far as prestige,I have been at 70 for ages,I am waiting for Double XP to do it,so I can at least get Cold Blooded(lvl25 or so) in a day.

I use the akimbo P-90's as my 'fast class' once in a while, but I literally can't hit anyone with it unless they are standing right smack in front of me. 1 on 1, I get owned by anyone from even shorter-medium ranges up on out with this build.

It works for me on those 'round the corner' kills, though.

I hit level 70 last night, and as I consider what I want to do next with this game I realize I'm probably equally likely to:

A) Trade it in while the value is still decent

B) Prestige and play through 70 levels and 3+ days again

I'm only 54 or so, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I get there. Maybe play through the single player finally, and then prestige after that. I enjoy it too much to trade it in.
