I'm curious how teambuilder actually works. From what I can tell, you create your own stadium, uniforms, logo, etc, correct? What about the players? Are they just randomally generated or do you have to recruit them out of high school? Additionally, wouldn't your first few years of a new university team be rather bad in terms of overall wins and losses because of the lack of talent?
You can adjust anything as far as design, color scheme, and import your own logos.
You choose one of the stadiums in the game and "retexture" it with your logo and team name in the end zones and midfield, etc.
You choose a default strength from 1 star scrub to powerhouse. You can auto generate rosters based on that.
I saw I was allowed to modify the name/number/ratings of the players, but didn't try it. Not sure if those "stick" or if they are left as their original names/ratings afterward, but the roster is auto generated at first.

There are some good historic teams already up for d/l on Teambuilder.
You are able to preview the entire roster before d/l,which is good,so you don't get stuck with a team with overblown ratings.Unfortunately, you can't edit a Teambuilder team.
I actually paid for the max slots(120),so over time I will have a huge variety of all-time and historic teams to use.

My first online game a few nights ago featured this Michigan 96 yd screen play vs Maryland in a 14-13 victory. Sadly, no highlights are available from the game Zeppo won.

I have not played NCAA but I thought that the pursuit angles were supposed to be majorly improved this year? If you look at the video, there's a Maryland defender who is running stratight across the field all the way back at the 15 yard line, instead of taking an angle back across the field so that he would have a chance of tackling the Michigan ball player. Dumb pursuit angles like that ensure that the single file chase takes place in every EA football game I've seen to date.XXXIV wrote:My first online game a few nights ago featured this Michigan 96 yd screen play vs Maryland in a 14-13 victory. Edit: The part I'm talking about happens at the 3-5 second mark on the video, towards the bottom of the screen.
Well, after considerable time with the game as well as the Madden 10 demo, I can now safely tuck my oft-used copy of NFL2K5 away. I am having an absolute blast with this game. I was a fan of last year's version in theory but there were a handful of things that drove me crazy. Those are all fixed. Interceptions are toned down, the computer can run and throws deep, not nearly as many fumbles/pick 6, the computer can run and defend the option a lot better, there are errant passes, etc. Player lock is great too. I see a little too much suction blocking, but the game is so much fun I can live with a minor annoyance here or there.MizzouRah wrote:They did a heck of a job on 2010 imho. There are so many improvements, I'm not sure where to start.
Running and passing are so much better.. animations have been improved.. the game overall just feels more like football and I loved 09. Doubt I could go back to it now.. the game just feels organic and I love the running game more than anything so far.
I'm liking the game but I should say that I haven't played the series in a few years. I think it plays a decent game of football and I find it to be pretty damn fun. I'm just hoping to try and get a couple of seasons completed before NHL 10 comes out in 6 weeks or so. It's definitely filling the void while waiting for the new hockey game.MUTTS wrote:Its raining sideways here in Syracuse today and I'm itching for some football.
How is this game holding up after a few weeks. Tried to read up over at OS but its the usual same old story.
Your comments appreciated.

It's holding up very well for me. I picked it up for $50 and intended to do the $40 trade in towards Madden, but this game is a keeper. The player lock feature alone is worth it for me. The CPU is a challenge, the sliders work, and the turnovers are reasonable this year. I just took back my first Kickoff return tonight!
The game IS a keeper for me too.
At least so far this year I cannot take a team(Im not talking about Delaware st etc) or game lightly or it bites me in the ass.
Scrapped and restarted my Michigan dynasty with the lanteri87 rosters. Started out 3-0 then something strange happened . I lost at home to Indiana. Then after a W over the Spartans(ding) I found myself down against Iowa when luckily? I fell asleep(aka past out
)....
9.5 outta 10 on the XXXIV scale of sports gaming love...At some point I became an EA fanboy.

Like the gameplay for the most part, but kickoff returns are a bit out of hand. Playing Indiana(me) vs Iowa, CPU had 4 kickoff return TDs and I had two. More of an NFL fan, so I am still doing what I planned and trading it in for the $40 toward Madden (never will get this trade in value for it again) May pick it up later when the price drops.XXXIV wrote:The game IS a keeper for me too.

I am not a big multi-year dynasty player, but it appears to be true and would most definitely hurt dynasty play. Fortunately, what I usually do is play a season with Penn State and also play a big game each week from the NCAA schedule as well as the major bowl games. By playing around 30-35 games each season, I usually don't even have time to make it far in year 2. Hopefully, it will be fixed if there is a "patch 2", but who knows.icvu42 wrote:Some people over at OS are saying the player progression between seasons is way too much and hurts dynasty mode... is that accurate or are they blowing it up more than it really is?
Thanks.

Finally had time to play another exhibition game in preparation for my Mizzou season.
I played Toledo at home and after struggling to them, down 17-0 after the first quarter, Gabbert gets in sync and we get it together to win 24-20.
The game on AP defaults plays harder than last year.. at least for me so far. I LOVE player lock and I really think that will kill my enjoyment somewhat with Madden on defense.
Running is better and more true to life as is the passing. I find it sometimes tough to get off a pass, which is great. Love the, "should I play this injured player or not" feature.
I like it better than 09 so far and I can't wait to rattle off some games this weekend!

Same boat as you. The dynasty progression problem doesnt bother me that much as I usually only play one season with a few different teams. A patch however would be nice as I am really loving this game an can seee myself creating a UIC football program and taking it to the top in about 3,000 seasons.Leebo33 wrote:I am not a big multi-year dynasty player, but it appears to be true and would most definitely hurt dynasty play. I play 7 minute qtrs as I get more plays in NCAA games than in Madden.MizzouRah wrote:I'm going to start my Missouri career tonight.
Are the normal 8 min quarters still applicable here?
Played further into my Michigan dynasty.
Took a real beating at the hands of Penn St. Down 31-21 at the end of 3 qtrs I start the fouth with a 1st and goal at the PSU 5. I still have a shot right? Wrong!. I proceed to throw a pick six as part of a 5 int 4th qtr. Final score PSU 52 Mich 21. Not good. All ints I threw were earned. UGLY stuff. Hopefully I will heed my own advice and pay attention to what the hell Im doing. The game usually makes you pay for stupidity.
Next two games went much better with an easy win at Illinois and a hard fought victory at home vs Purdue.
Game is harder than last years. Some of it is a lil cheap but it seems much less so than previous years.
Love this game.
