Speaking of Shockey...couldn't the dude be down on the field with his teammates instead of up in a suite putting down the liquor at a records pace? I counted three drinks in front of him when they panned to him a couple times. The writing is on the wall if you ask me. Boss played well replacing him at a fraction of the cost. Think Shockey gets cut?
Best catch in Super Bowl History.....period! To go up and get that ball was one thing, but to land the way he did and NOT let that ball go or even hit the ground was sheer will and determination. It wasn't the prettiest catch ever, but it sure might have been the most difficult.Brando70 wrote: The Manning-Tyree play may be the greatest in Super Bowl history. I think it's even better than Lynn Swann's famous catch and The Tackle from the Titans-Rams Super Bowl.

God, it must be a good feeling to be a Giants' fan this morning. Just once, I would love to feel the elation of the Bills winning The Big One. My Oil has five Stanley Cups, and each put me on top of the world. But damn it, I want my team to win a Super Bowl -- WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!![]()
Take care,
PK
I watched the game on a outdoors club in which they set up 2 projection sets.
I went with my gf who has become a football fan the last couple of weeks.
That puts a smile on my face everyday.
They where a ton of Giants fans in attendance, the place blew up when Plax snagged the winning TD. Incredibly fun night indeed.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that, why isn't that guy on the field? Maybe they didn't want him there?

IMO Barber and Shockey were two big cancer-in-the-clubhouse type of guys. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Eli's step up in play happened right after the Shockey injury. The Giants offense is much better without Barber and Shockey. Maybe getting cut or traded would give Shockey the wake-up call he needs.Inuyasha wrote:dbdynsty25 wrote:Speaking of Shockey...couldn't the dude be down on the field with his teammates instead of up in a suite putting down the liquor at a records pace? Aside from the perfection upset, I can't really say that game was all that great. The first 3 quarters were okay but not exciting. The 4th quarter was great though.
It seems every year someone tries to claim it as the best Super Bowl ever.
There have been more exciting Super Bowl games. HOWEVER, from start to finish this actually felt like a football game and not your usual SB crapfest.

No, traded maybe? There's a TON of teams that would kill to have him.dbdynsty25 wrote:Speaking of Shockey...couldn't the dude be down on the field with his teammates instead of up in a suite putting down the liquor at a records pace? I guess it's a true testament to the game that we've gone this long since its' conclusion before mentioning the ads but I thought it was time to see what people thought of them. I personally didn't find any of them to be truly great but the Planters commercial with the ugly woman and the E*Trade commercial where the baby rents a clown with his extra coin were noteworthy.
Also noteworthy, but in a bad way, were the two Sales Genie ads. The first one featured an Indian saleperson with an over-the-top Indian accent while the second one featured 2 panda bears with even worse over-the-top Chinese accents. I literally cringed while watching those commercials and wondered if the next one would feature an animated Al Jolson.

I thought it was a very entertaining defensive chess match sort of game. It sort of fit the profile of a few other recent SB games (Rams-Titans, Pats-Rams), but I felt the game as a whole was better than those games, with the defenses stepping up rather than the offenses stepping down. The Pats going for perfection added to the drama.
My ranking of games I've watched (first SB I watched was Steelers-Rams in 1980):
1) Giants-Bills
2) Broncos-Packers
3) Pats-Panthers
4) Giants-Pats
5) Rams-Titans
Pats-Rams and the 1989 49ers-Bengals games had great fourth-quarter drama but were not as good overall as these games in my opinion.

I'd have to put the first Bengals-49ers superbowl up in the top 5.Brando70 wrote:I thought it was a very entertaining defensive chess match sort of game. Yeah, it does suck. I don't think the show has been nearly as good since they got rid of the old timers, but it's still been pretty darn good. It's sad to see it go. I do have to say, however, that it is long since time for NFL Films to switch to a super16 standard for the HD format, since that was a big let down for me once I went HD.greggsand wrote:I like Inside the NFL. Still, I'm sad to see it go. The final little montage of clips from the show over the years was very bittersweet to watch.
Oh, and on a side note, I know Chris Carter is bitter about not getting into the HOF on his first ballot. He can go to hell. At least for the eight years Art Monk had to sit and wait. But finally, justice has been served. Now I have to come up with a new avatar now that ol' #81 is finally in (Grimm should be in too. . . .hmmm. . . ).
