Go pick up a dead guy's weapon, JRod. No biggie.

I'm on level 23 right now, I believe, and have never had so much fun playing with randoms. Sometimes there are tools and prepubescent nutjobs, but not as often as in some other games (*cough*Halo*cough).

Played some team hardcore last night, and boy, that's intense. Knowing that one bullet will take you out for good slows the game WAY down, and makes it much more intense. All of a sudden, staying alive matters. We did search and destroy, which was even more intense. We gotta try it on a DSP night soon...

I could definitely see myself getting into hardcore mode as I love one hit kills, I just wish you could choose between team deathmatch and search and destroy. S&D 'IS' counterstrike, but as much as I played that game to death in college, I'm not really into that game anymore and want my respawns. There are tons of other slow-paced games I could play that I choose not to.

Just finished the single-player mode on the PC on Regular difficulty. COD 4 is the best first-person shooter I've ever played, when factoring in immersion, graphics, music, sound and fun.

Just an incredible game. It's my Game of the Year, hands down. May as well start engraving the plaque now.

I'll remember this gaming experience for a long, long time.

Take care,
PK

It was a great game no doubt but what it really needed was a cute little companion cube.

And the promise of cake!

PK, I agree wholeheartedly. I finished the SP yesterday, and was just blown away by the feeling of being IN a movie, rather than playing a FPS, especially there at the end (not the end of credits end, but the before credits end). How that played out was simply incredible.

This game supports DL content; it'd sure be nice to have some more levels like the epilogue thrown in along with the sure to be released MP maps...just in case anyone from Infinity Ward is reading... :)

I played some Team Hardcore with randoms last night and had a BLAST!! A solid group of 5 I was with and it was as Teal would say INTENSE. Even hardcore Team Deathmatch was slowed down, I took an MVP with 16 kills. Not THAT many for a deathmatch.

On the sniper issue, I too suck at it, but have my moments. Just a little hint (man I hate giving out advice that could work against me LOL) when I snipe, the first person near me that dies, take out your pistol and swap it for their assault rifle. Then you have your sniper and an assault weapon. Some of you may have known this, but if not it can be a blessing when sniping!!!

Ah, heck yeah, I do that all the time. The pistola is not much good to me, but having an assault weapon (I get shotguns at times as well, for those pesky bastards who try to sneak up on me!) at your side along with the sniper rifle is a good mix...

I tried sniper for the first time last night, and if you go up against a team that's not organized enough to send someone after you, you really can have a field day.

That's a good tip about replacing the pistol... I didn't know you could do that. You just have to have it selected when you pick the new weapon up?

I would love to use the sniper once I unlock the ability to carry 2 primaries. It is hard to camp in this game so your need for a med/short gun is very high.

It kills me to read this thread and then see my unopened CoD4 just sitting on my desk and not having a 360 to play it on.

I have heard that there could possibly be downloadable content that would allow to play the single player online with a buddy/buddies. Anyone hear or know more about this?

MS messed up and haven't even sent me the coffin yet. Been 10 days since I called.

So when I called today and checked on it, I cancelled the repair. Going to try the method below and see if I can save $110.

One thing that is irksome on occasion is the 'spawn into a death' syndrome. I went a pretty long time before it bothered me much, but last night I had an egregious round where I spawned into insta-death *4* times within a single round! Twice by grenades, and twice into the middle of gunfire. Overall I don't mind the spawn system, but maybe a 2 second-ish invulnerability(but can't fire) on respawn would be nice...
I'm not that great either but it is semi auto matic so I can squeeze off numerous shots :) I had a ton of fun with it the other night. The fact that I armed myself with 2 RPGs sure helped too :D

After finishing the single player campaign and enough random online battles to reach a whopping level 7, I can say this is the most enjoyable FPS I've ever played. I never play with anybody I know, only the random match whenever I get time, but I've only had a couple of times where the idiots sang into the mic or bitched about how the other guy was cheating because there's no way they could be better than him, etc etc. Incredible game, and I don't even dig shooters.

Randoms have been pretty good. Hell, I played with some kid yesterday who sounded like he was 12 but knew more tactics and military nomenclature than a West Point grad. He's barking about enfilade and withering fire, and I'm like "dude, you're playing with an old man and about 12 stoned southern guys.!" :)

I stumbled upon this last night. I was sniping a SOB 50+ ranked player on the russian warehouse map. I finally got him and than took the final sniper rifle that I don't have. He also had an assult weapon, so after that I figured that I better start to steal weapons.

For long range shots use the sniper. But if you have someone that is close enough to save some bullets just pull out the 2nd weapon and drop them.

Last night, I have probably the best series of kills in my life. On countdown-domination, at the start, the opposing team about 4-5 of them ran to the "B" location in the center of the map. I got there first and planted my C4. I took cover and let about 4-5 of them secure it then I hit the button. 3 died and 2 more were injured then died. I called in an airstrike that brought me up to ten and then the helicopter came in. I was up to 15-17 kills in about the first minute of the game.

At what point does the "poop a grenade upon dying" perk open up? I both despise it and can't wait to employ it. :)

I don't remember when Martyrdom opens up, but I think it is early/mid 20s.

Not very exciting, I rarely get killed (or get kills) from it. You learn to avoid it and most people are very good at avoiding it now. I rather use another perk.

That was great wasn't it? What a great way to show the horror of the a-bomb.

Anyway, finished this game on Veteran over the weekend and also unlock the Mile High Club. The last stage (Ultimatum) on Vet is ridiculously unfair.
