Two sides to it, I guess - do you say the mod team are giving those averse to Starforce a chance to play a GTL themed game without shafting the original developer, one whose original work they're borrowing from, or do you say it's Simbin's fault for having Starforce in the first place and you're developing everything except the 3D models yourselves so screw them and just give me the mod?
Since Starforce gives me no trouble at all, what I'll continue to say is, "sod it, I'll just play GTL instead, thanks."
The Power and Glory mod for GTR2 is the best current mod for GTR2 and in fact the only GTR2 mod I have installed. It is far more than just a straight conversion of the GT Legends cars. Anyone who wants to try it out I have plenty of GT Legends copies to go around. Great game in its own right and can be found for next to nothing. You don't need GTL installed for the Power and Glory mod to work. You just need the CD/DVD.

Only one side of it for me: I don't own GTL, and I'm not going to buy it to play a mod based on it. That's pretty pointless. Why buy a game so you can play a mod that's just like the game you just purchased?
This is an rFactor mod for GTL owners only. Limiting, I say. Bullsh*t, I say.
Take care,
PK

Has anyone tried this with an ISO mounted with Daemon Tools? I know those are the tools of piracy, but it's absolutely ridiculous that I need to own another game to play a mod for a different game.
Sorry for the whining if this is standard procedure for PC gaming. It doesn't seem right, but I'm still a relative newbie to this.
Take care,

I was thinking the same damn thing PK. I don't think you need Daemon tools for that. I think all that's needed is an ISO of GTL. Burn the image with PowerISO, UltraISO or my favorite Nero 6 or above and presto you have a 100% image of the CD disc. The only thing is you wouldn't be able to play from the disc but who cares anyway.
I bought a copy of GTL when it was released for $20 and threw it away after Starforce ruined two of my drives.
Thanks, Rod. I'll either use that burn method or give Daemon a go when and if this mod becomes reality. Hopefully the mod will read GTL mounted on the virtual drive as if it's a physical disc.
No way I'm buying GTL just so I can play this mod. Plus I'd dip my entire body in battery acid before I installed a game with Starforce protection on my rig.
Take care,
PK

PK i'd go the GTR2 route since you have the game already. It also has the GT Legends mod and that one I think is a remake of the original GTL and it comes with cars and tracks.
I agree, go for the GTR2 version of the mod PK. Thats the one I use and it's fantastic. I have no intention of grabbing the rFactor one.
I've never had a problam at all with the Starforce protection on my PC, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Of course the PC it runs on is my gaming rig, so it's pretty clean of other types of software. Heck, the only time it goes on the net is when I'm online in a game. My other PC is the one I use for recording my music, documents, finances, web surfing, downloading, etc.
Piggy, I've been looking forward to that one for a bit - it's from a period when CART was genuinely worth watching, and it's by iDT who put together the excellent 2006 Champ Car mod.
Had a go of the 2007 F1 demo last night and I'm not really all that keen on it. Everything is more understeery than I'd expected it to be, I'm lifting where I'd expect to stay flat out...just not really getting along with it yet. It's as much me as it is the mod, I guess, but I didn't have a lot of fun.

Did you try both physics versions ?
How was the sound ?
Ive got it but havnt loaded it yet.
My favorite 2007 F1 mod was for Grand Prix 4, simply awesome and the best AI ever. The best 2007 F1 mod for rFactor was made by ISI who did the 2007 F1 BMW cars. They sound and handle superb.
Jimmy, I didn't get to try both physics versions, and I don't recall finding out how to change between them - there's a patch out, already, which lets you change through the upgrades menu so I'll get that tonight and see how things go.
The sound was fairly unremarkable, I thought. Convincing enough but didn't have any great punch, which is true of a real F1 engine these days, I guess. The damage and collision physics seemed a bit broken - any time I tagged a wall even slightly, the car would lose a wheel, spin wildly into the air and then shed another couple of wheels on landing. I had some graphical issues with the Red Bull skins appearing sideways on the cars too, like they do in GP 79 if you've picked the wrong skin for the car model, so there's a bit to fix before the full release.

Agree on the 2007 BMW Saubers. A superb mod. Excellent physics and graphics.

According to the iDT forum, there's an Indy Oval setup included. Could be interesting if we're able to run it online one night. Otherwise, physics tweaks and a more robust rear wing are the main changes. Haven't tried it yet, so can't really comment.
Did anyone patch the MMG 2007 demo to 1.1? Ever since I did, rFactor has crashed to desktop as soon as I've selected the mod from my list.
Thanks for the Champ Car update, Adam. That's a good mod that we raced often upon its release but has fallen through our Poker Night cracks. We should revive it.
I don't have the MMG mod. Sorry.
Take care,
PK

Just letting you cats know that a new racing sim has been released as well as the demo. And get this the demo is the full game and you have 60 minutes before it times out (i'm not sure if it's 60 minutes total or 60 minutes per session). You can purchase a activation code from the company. I'm not sure what the price is because i'm still downloading the file.
Anyway this game is based on the ISI engine just like GTR2, Race '07 and rFactor. It features 60 cars and 12 tracks and it's based on the racing series in Argentina called Turismo Carretera. You guys PK and Adam are probably more familiar with the series than me.
I checked the racesimcentral formums and the impressions seem good, from car physics to a very good AI.
In case anyone is interested I downloaded the BMW M3 Challenge sim from Blimey Games formerly known as Simbin. OMG is this sweet and shows that Blimey is the new Papyrus of the decade.
The car physics are sublime unfortunately I don't have a racing wheel yet. I'm tighter than PK when it comes to that. But man O man what an experience. Amazingly polished for a free game. Also I need to note the Ring has some very nice and believable track bump mapping although i've never been to the track. When you put the car on the track it feels and behaves like a road car on a race track, somewhat bumpy in certain areas.
It comes with a ton of BMW 3 cars but only the Neurburing short and long course but no biggie as I have no doubt the modders may figure out a way around that. You can also take the game online if you wish.
I forgot to mention the sound of the cars in and out of the car are tight and realistic.
I'm really looking forward to Blimey's next racing sim. Right now it's Blimey and everyone else.
