And the Mets reign at the top begins to crumble...

Zambrano out for the year...torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Ouch.

Yeah... 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA.

Boy are the Mets going miss him.

I do feel bad for the guy, but he was a total bust.

Yeah but the rest of the staff doesn't exactly consist of spring chickens.

Bannister on the shelf. Zambrano done for the year. You know Pedro is going to make a stop eventually. What do they do? Lima? Heilman? If they move Heilman to the rotation, it really hurts their bullpen.

All true, but at least they are up 5, not down five with those problems.

Other teams still have to catch them.

Anyways, I'm waiting for the Phils to bring Cole Hamels up from AAA. He's forcing the issue.

2 starts, 2-0, 16 IP, 5 H, 26 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Nasty lefthander. He should take Floyd's spot soon.

Someone tell Billy Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgner to shush up....

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/14521728.htm
"I knew I was not well-liked there," he said, referring to his former teammates. "I felt like an outsider."

Worse, Wagner said, he got the feeling late in the season that his teammates, whom he described as overly sensitive about media coverage, were just waiting to see him fail.

Wagner said he became "everyone's least favorite Phillie in the clubhouse" after he called his teammates on the carpet for their spiritless play in an interview that appeared July 1 in The Inquirer.

In response to Wagner's critical comments, former teammate Kenny Lofton called a team meeting in the weight room. Wagner described the meeting as "24 against one," and added that Pat Burrell called him a "rat" during the meeting.

8 in a row, and the Mets coming to town. We have to take 2 of 3.

Should have been the season. I'm not surprised though. These days nothing surprises me when it comes to these governing bodies of sports.

50 games, they were sending a message.... 8O

And from what I have seen, this was his third incident. He is a spoiled punk kid. He needed to get at least 5 years. I would also think the DA would want to look at the incident, hitting an umpire in the face could easly constitute agg assault.

If an Umpire really pisses you off 50 games doesnt seem that bad a price to pay...If they guy is a real jerk I just can beat the f*** out of him right?

Seems to Me baseball just f***ed up again...but isnt that what they do best?...

Now the only issue is that the ump was hit in the chest, but that's neither here nor there.

9 in a row for the Phils. Gordon blew the save, but we found a way to win in the bottom of the 9th.

Clutch blast by Delgado.

But Heillman choked. That was LoDuca's play all the way.

The Royals are now 10-22... 5-21 vs. the rest of the league and 5-1 vs. the Tribe.

Ho hum. Pujols hits number 18 and the Cards keep pace with the Reds. If he stays healthy, he'll hit 60. That's a big if as he's had some back and shin issues the last few weeks. He's just ridiculously good. Leads in RBIs and runs scored. By the way, he's led in runs scored the past three years.

On a side note, I'm glad to see Renteria is having a great year so far with the Braves.

Without Renteria, the Braves would be 15 games behind the Mets. I guess he just didn't like the American League (but really, who does?).

Mets end the Phills winning streak at 9 with a nice ass-whooping.

Glavine keeps getting it done.

Watch Baseball Tonight or Sports Center if you want to see one of the best catches you will ever see. Xavier Nady hit a deep fly ball to dead center with the bases loaded, 2 out and Aaron Rowand "Willie Mays'd" it and crashed into the CF fence breaking his nose and gashing his face up pretty bad. Its a pleasure watching this guy play every night. Then Utley took the "human Rain Delay" Steve Trachsel deep in the bottom of the first...1-0 Phils.
