Way to go, Leebo. And thanks to Jack for doing this yet again. It was a lot of fun.

I also would like to go back to spreads if possible, just because it adds a lot more variety to the weekly outcomes. I'd be okay with spreads and all games or spreads and a selection of games. I don't care what line we use as long as it is the same source throughout the season (like we did last year).

But considering Jack does this for free, I'm fine with whatever he wants to do.

Again I am going to suggest that we revert back to picking your best 3 picks of the weekend with the spread next season - like we did a few seasons ago. That format takes alot more skill, is more fun, and is easier for you to score Jack.
That was the year you won right? I'll put it up for a vote about a month before the season starts next year. I'll give everyone at least three options on how to play the season. Two of the options will include spreads. Majority rules and we'll go with that.

By the way working with the spreads was not easier on me at all. The format we had this year was the easiest yet. We'll see how the vote goes next season and take it from there.

Congrats Leebo. Thanks again for running this Jack.

The problem I have with the old format was a lack of uniformity. I don't care if we go back to calling the spread but I would care if everybody didn't pick the same games. I'd prefer a confidence pool myself. Maybe we can do both if we can't decide on one.

Identifying and picking your favorite 3 games with the spread is a more realistic contest and a better simulation of gambling.

When you start picking every game luck pervades the entire process.

I'm not necessarily looking for something that simulates gambling. I thought it was cool that I had some sort of rooting interest in most games that I watched. Although it was nice winning, I pretty much do it for fun. If there is another format that is just as fun I will certainly consider it.

I'm not a statistics guru, but I can't believe that choosing a smaller sample rather than the entire population is less "lucky." I'm not even convinced that adding the point spread requires any more relative skill than just choosing straight up. That is, it may require more skill and thought to factor in the point spread, but I don't believe that anyone at DSP would do any better/worse relative to the other players just because we changed the method. It's still picking football games and everyone is pretty much still taking the same amount of knowledge/luck into it with them regardless of the format. Besides, the basic premise of the point spread is that it "evens" up the games for bettors. By its very nature, choosing your best three "even" games over three other "even" games involves a substantial amount of luck.

Congratulations to Leebo (The Pennsylvania Prognosticator? The Mechanicsburg Marvel? The Harrisburg Holupki?) on winning the football picks this year and for the impressive feat of going wire-to-wire!

Thank you Jack for running the show with precision and speed. It was most enjoyable again this year.

LOL

I almost never win these things or fantasy football. If anything, I usually finish close to the top in pools outside of the money or lose in the playoffs in FF. I actually won an elimination pool this year as well so luck was just on my side for once.
