Jack, the songs from itunes have an .m4p extension, the itunes interface lets you burn your songs to a cd as a music cd then you can convert the cd to mp3's on your computer then the songs can be played on any mp3 player.

Follow these tips:

This calculator also helps to determine settings. It works with uTorrent:

Using the hack to increase your maximum half-open connections is a MUST if you want vastly improved speeds.

The patch hack is NOT a virus. False positive. I've used it for three years without a hitch.

I tried the patch, increased the max TCP connections to 80, still no luck. :P

You don't want to make max connections 80. For me, the best way to increase your download speed is to allow for unlimited upload bandwidth. Sure, your internet connection slows WAY down when you do that, but it allows for the fastest download speeds.

Yeah max 80 connections had no effect on download speed. I set it to 8 which is default. What helped my download speed is disabling DHT whatever the hell that's for I have no clue. All I know is when I turn it on my speed drops like a mother. So I left it off even though the tracker is tracking DHT.

OK my speeds are now up to respectable levels. I followed a few more of PK's links and it's helped some more. My conclusion is the following.

Those tips and tricks don't necessarily mean your going to get faster speeds from a particular seeder. What I think this does it allows you to connect to more seeders and leechers in both swarms. So the end result is you pull more from both pools.

I did all my changes and tested it out on one seeder who I was having slow download speeds. I went back with my changes in hand and it didn't improve because he was the only seeder. I then went to another group and all my changes resulted in me seeing and connecting to more in both swarms and so my speeds when up.

Why, pray tell? Increasing my max connections to 80 created a dramatic improvement in my speeds.

There is no magic bullet that fits everyone's machine when trying to increase file sharing speeds. Some tweaks work for some machines and Internet service providers; some don't. You just need to tweak and play around to find what works best for you.

Yeah...that's true, no magic bullet. Having that many connections with my connection really dogs my computer, even more than not putting a limit on my upload speeds. And it ain't like I have a slow PC. It must be an internet provider thing, like you said.

It's gotta be an internet provider thing because I tested the speed of my download connection and it's like 2.6MB/sec where my real peak download is capped at 385KB/s and my upload is capped at 90KB/s.

In any event I got what I needed much faster by doing most of the tweaks that were recommended.

RIAA to drop strategy of mass lawsuits against file sharers. They also drop the company they had long used to collect "evidence" of piracy for their lawsuits.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1231093 ... d=djemTECH

However, they hired a Danish company to continue monitoring.

Their other tack will be to try to collect fees from ISPs, who'd no doubt pass on the fees and/or impose caps like Comcast has done.

Downloads sales are up but CD sales are down 20%, especially in the last 3-4 months when the financial crisis hit and consumer confidence plummeted.

They also attribute some of the decline to delays in albums from U2, Dr. Dre and others.
